those pegged coins are a terrible idea 🤦‍♂️

I bring you an express post making a logical reflection on the pegged tokens. In any case this post its only a way of looking at tokenomics . you should also know that in Academia Libertad we are pro free market.

Basically I have a huge disgust with the decision to make a token "pegged" at a price determined by the owner of the project, mostly because it is an attempt to control prices and we all know that trying to control the economy never it works out ..

For examples there are several but we can see the case of FIAT of Argentina with the pesos, basically the pesos are the official currency of the Argentine country and at a certain point they decided to place a restriction on the price of the peso making there an immutable value for the currency decided by the government...

What happened? The black market and the so-called blue dollar appeared where people exchange Argentine pesos at the real market price, which is born from supply and demand.

But the case is not limited to FIAT, we have several examples within HIVE as we can mention several such as:

  • DEC
  • SIM
  • FARM
  • STARBITS

I add that I am a player of the 4 games to which the coins belong and that this, in the end, is a constructive criticism, plus i love all of them! (specially risingstar game which has a really incredible team and community! and those nfts are amazing well done and worth of collecting, you should give it a look!!)

because if the prices are released there is nothing to fear since it can even be much more beneficial than creating a price pegged to nothing realistic. The only way to have a pegged price its to having as a back assets with that real market value backing the token. example you have some stablecoins. And the price of the coins will go up as the potential of each game/project its developed too (more players, more demand, etc)

Do you know why the above coins are never pegged at their price?

1000 DEC = $ 1

Actual Price:

1000 DEC = $ 0.68

SIM

800 SIM = 4 HIVE

Actual Price:

800 SIM = 2.90 HIVE

FARM

1 FARM = $ 1

Actual Price:

1 FARM = $ 0.14

Starbits

10k STARBITS = 5 HIVE

Actual Price:

10k STARBITS = 3.7 HIVE

As you can see in none of the previous cases, the currency has been able to stay at the "pegged and safe" price that its creators set it and the reason is so simple and that is that the MARKET decided that this is not the real value of those currencies.

Prices do not come from costs or something arbitrary, but rather purely from the supply and demand of users. So if you want the price of your currency to rise, it is as simple as releasing prices so as not to create an artificial ceiling for the growth of your project and create more sinks for the respective currencies.

sinks = More value = Demand = Higher price

That's it, for example in hashkings we will opt for a token (MOTA) with a relatively low supply, a totally free price and that will be the heart and base of the entire game economy.

@hashkings is a simulator of an experience from the world of cannabis, there will be different roles in the final gameplay and one of them is that of a seed supplier. Cannabis seeds are obtained through the STAKING of MOTA, therefore while there is demand for seeds (the base of the game) there will be demand for MOTA and therefore it will positively affect the price, in addition to there are burn systems and inflation based on the market reaction.

1000 DEC = $1

Precio actual:

1000 DEC = $0.68

SIM

800 SIM = 4 HIVE

Precio actual:

800 SIM = 2.90 HIVE

FARM

1 FARM = $1

Precio actual:

1 FARM = $0.14

Starbits

10k STARBITS = 5 HIVE

Precio actual:

10k STARBITS = 3.7 HIVE

This is a really good point. I am enjoying Splinterlands, however, it does feel like these games are skimming value by having their own tokens.

I imagine what the #Splinterlands reward system and market could have been if they used HIVE or HBD (specifically SWAP.HIVE or SWAP.HBD) as their in-game currency. 🤔😁
