Engagement project up and running again . A backup script using BEEM Api.

Good evening to everyone , hope you all are having a great day .

Yesterday I posted about pausing the Engagement project because HiveSQL went to subscription mode . I worked on a new script yesterday ( which took some considerable time to be honest ) to find an alternative . I knew BEEM Api would offer a solution to this but I also knew it is not as effective and effetient as HiveSQL .

Up and running - upvotes delivered for today

I completed the whole script just now to make sure there is no difference between the older formulas and factors and the new one .

The upvotes has been delivered for 13th April right now :)

Good news and Bad news

Good news

  1. We didn't miss any day , yesterday using HiveSQL I delivered the upvotes and after the upvoting was done it went to subscription mode and today we were able to deliver using the new script.
  2. We now have 2 scripts which depends on two different services - 1 = HiveSQL and 2 = BEEM Api .
    • So even if one gives us problem we can use another

Bad news

  1. The new script takes 15x more time to retrieve the same data when compared to HiveSQL .
  2. Bulk data still cannot be retrieved effectively ( not related to this project though )
  3. I have decided to take my cut ( atleast 70% of my own delegation - not from others delegation ) from this week
    • This is to improve the project , I constantly work on the project to make sure everything is going smooth and constantly add new factors to calculate quality , I feel that now it is necessary to take my cut . Till last week although I delegate good amounts to curation accounts I wasn't taking my dividends and it was being distributed to other delegators , from this week I will take a potion of my dividends . I am sure it will still be the best APR provided here on Hive , I can guarantee that .

HiveSQL proposal .

I still support HiveSQL proposal to make it free since a lot of users and applications use this to retrieve data and make Hive better . I understand the costs required to run it .

Since it is a new script , some formulas or some other factors might be wrong , I have tried my best to cross-check each and every line but still if you see any irregularities , please let me know .

From tomorrow , the ranking with the values ( images ) will be uploaded directly to the post itself through @amr008.ctp account and not on https://hivelayers-stats.herokuapp.com .

This is done for 2 reasons

  1. Let's try to keep everything on Hive blockchain
  2. Too many images on the herokuapp = server response will be slow .

This is great news! Good work! Hopefully they can get the issues with HiveSQL resolved and get you back to running things the regular way at some point soon. In the meantime, I have no problem with you "taking your cut". You've obviously earned it in my opinion.

I hope HiveSQL becomes free too because it is by far the quickest to retrieve Hive related data ( and easiest too).

I feel sad for all the remaining projects who aren't able to find an alternative .

Awesome news! I just went over and supported the proposal. Hopefully it pushes though. The price seems high for developers to take advantage of it, so having it funded and free would be a really good thing.

Right now a lot of funding is just going to HBD proposal alone which is sad to be honest.

To be honest , same with me . I haven't checked out all proposals in detail too which I should . It is one of the most important features of Hive which is being neglected by us .

Yeah, I agree. I need to somehow work that into my weekly routine. The other problem is some of them are so technical that I could be voting on something not beneficial and not even realize it.

I think this is the best news of the day. I am happy you dint miss even a single day but i am more happy that you will take your share of profit. There has to be some incentive for everyone to work. The script that you have built is superb and helps people to keep hooked to the platforms, generally termed as tribes. Keep doing good work friend

Awesome news! It's great that you were able to find a workaround so quickly. Even if execution time is a lot slower with BEEM, at least you can keep your project running :)

Nice. I am glad that we found a solution to the project but it does suck that it takes 15x as long. I continued to use the front-ends yesterday so I guess I got rewarded for doing so.

Oh I didnt see the new delegations yet but that you very much . Since we didn't miss any days , the curation reward will remain unaffected . Everything is automatic so you will receive the dividends this sunday .

I'll take more time these days to look into the projects. I know I want to personally help and engage in the GAMIFICATION one if possible, as I am a Gamification Designer. I'll look into others also.
Don't thank me. I have seen you active and I trust that project. I also believe you to be one of the people that cares a lot about hive's development. Plus, I don't know when you have time to curate everywhere and to work on others things. That's why you have my appreciation.

We can't expect poor Arcange to pay all the expenses of keeping the SQL free. He did for some time. It was nice DHF funding it while it lasted!
