What transactions are being performed by accounts created through LeoFinance ?

Good morning to everyone , I hope you all are doing good . This is yet another statistical post which focuses on new accounts created through LeoFinance .

Transactions

What do you mean by transaction in this context ?

Anything done on a blockchain is considered as a transaction . It might be

  • Post / Comment
  • Vote
  • Custom_JSON
  • Account Update

Accounts created via LeoFinance

As we all know LeoFinance is doing a great job in onboarding new users . It has made it simple and easy with 0 cost .

This is one of the many reasons why I have voted them as witness.

10 HP

When a new account is created , it is delegated 10 HP by @leo.voter account so that the account can start transacting instantly since all transactions need RC and RC depends on HP .

  • Currently @leo.voter has delegated to 391 accounts .

25 random accounts data

  1. I have picked 25 random accounts which has received delegation of 10 HP by @leo.voter .
  2. All these accounts have been created a week ago so as they should have had enough time to transact .

These are the random 25 accounts -

image.png

Out of these 25 accounts , how many accounts haven't transacted at all till now ?

  • 17 accounts has done atleast 1 transaction and 8 haven't .

Accounts active_inactive.png

How many transactions has been done by these 17 active accounts in total till date?

  • 327
  • Daily average = 46-47 transactions
  • Per account average per day - 2.7 ( round up to 3 )

Per user transaction average ( only active accounts -> 17 accounts )

  • 19.23 ( rounds off to 19 transaction per user )

What type of transactions are these accounts doing the most?

Type of transaction done.png

  • Nice , they feel like they should upvote even though they have less voting value , this tells us one of the two things

    • They are addicted to FB and twitter so they feel this works the same way . In other words , they don't know how upvotes work here actually .
    • They like the content they are reading :)
  • Custom_json is in second position , which can be transferring tokens or various other types like staking , claiming tokens etc .

  • Out of 36 comment/posts , how many are posts and how many are comments ?

    • Comment count vs Post count.png

    • This tells us that they are not more inclined towards engaging at the beginning . The comment and posts count are almost equal .

How much time does a user on an average take to make his first transaction on Hive ?

This is calculated by taking= First transaction time - Account creation time

Time taken for first transaction on an average = 00:53:58

Almost an hour ? Is this too much ?

Which transaction is the first transaction for most users ?

  1. Comment
  2. Custom_Json
  3. Vote
  4. Account_update

Don't mistake this with "ORDER of transaction" . The above is rankings .

Means - The above doesn't state = First transaction of most users is Comment , second transaction is Custom_JSON , so on - NO , this is not right .

Correct example - For most users , first transaction is COMMENT .

Second in ranking is Custom_Json as first transaction .

Third in ranking is Vote as first transaction etc .

Note

  1. All these need not be accurate representation of all accounts which has received delegation by @leo.voter .
  2. 25 seems to be good enough sample to extract data .
  3. All transaction are performed by account holders itself . Meaning - If ABC creates an account and if @amr008 stakes ABC 10 HP , it isn't considered as transaction because ABC didn't do the transaction ( no RC cost for ABC account )
I just hope if LeoFinance team comes across this post , it will help them in some or the other way . Maybe to decide if 10 HP is enough or not , what to do about inactive accounts etc .

I think delegating RC directly could be much more beneficial to the blockchain, you give more value to the RCs that you don't use and keep those nice curation rewards

Totally , I think I recently read a dev post in which he mentioned he is working on RC delegation so it is good news :)

I personally feel it will change the whole onboarding process and make it whole lot smoother .

I guess it takes a while for some to post enough to run out of RC's, How many comments and posts can they do with that?

Actually there is no fixed RC for comments and posts , all I can tell you is the average one .

Why? Because it depends on the length , the greater bytes a comment has the greater the RC . It is not constant .

Their may be other reason also that the account are upvoting in majority - those may be the second account create for the second layer tokens for curation...
Thanks for sharing the information....
Keep doing the good work...

Very interesting. 8 out of 25 doing nothing is a bit concerning though. I know sometimes it takes a little bit for you to wade into the Hive waters. Maybe that is what is happening. That or you create an account spur of the moment and it takes you a week or two to really dig into it. I'd like to see this place really grow.

I agree but voting is very simple and especially on Leofinance it just takes a click to vote so I am not sure if they are even hopping on to the platform after they create the account though .

..might be part of a larger strategy with good intentions, beyond the fact that you have made it very clear for me how things need to work, ideally.
Thank you! It's good to have reliable insight since I am new and ...innocent/candid about Hive matters. But I'm learning.

I have a simple wonder for the last 2 days, @amr008...a friend of mine who came into Hive recently asked me if she can swap her tokens from leo.dex or hive-engine directly into Hive or Leo without selling them on the market. I don't know what to tell her. Thank you for being kind enough to offer me some guidance!

You mean swap the second-layer tokens ?

Like say you have CTP token and you want Hive for it? Then you have to sell it on the market .

If you just want to keep CTP as it is , you need not withdraw it since whatever is shown on Hive-engine wallet exists on your second-layer wallet itself .

Thank you for telling me, @amr008
I'll tell my friend about this today, as well.
Have a wonderful day!

More upvotes and less posts makes sense as people first tests the water by reading other posts.
I wonder if this trend would change after a mont or so.
Can we check the behaviour of same accounts after a month and see if there is increase in posts. This will help visualise the journey of new users.

I felt the same . Although the no transactions part is a bit worrying to be honest .

I will check those users posts after a month as you advised , let's check .

This is cool, something to keep an eye on. I would like to see the 30% of inactive accounts decrease, not sure how this could be talked though. On the other hand it looks healthy that the majority of new account are both commenting and voting.

I felt the same . Maybe after a couple of weeks I will try to gather more info of more new accounts .

Also I am planning to retrieve data for paid accounts ( like ones created by giving 3 Hive ) and free accounts .

Right on, would definitely be interested in comparing results of paid accounts vs free accounts. some good insights possible there..
