Competing with Tesla?
It has been back and forward around Apples plans to start their own vehicle
production. Now it seems that a physical car is in near in sight, with a possible start of production in 2024.
Apples "Project Titan" began in 2014, the goal was to develop a vehicle of its own and for some time, it has seemed as if Apple would mainly focus on the development of software for self-driving cars, but the company does not seem to have given up on its idea of owning the entire production.
Apple is aiming for car production by 2024, according to new information that the news agency Reuters has received from a unnamed source.

Total market turnover
This idea of developing their own vehicle has probably intensified when they look at the success of Tesla, which has destroyed all the rules of the old world of vehicle developers. Tesla has control of the entire production line, has the software and also can make upgrades a.k.a upsells on cars they already sold to customers. Apples sees this and realize the potential in this and knows they have the knowledge and capital to compete directly with Tesla.

Battery development
The planned passenger vehicle may also use a proprietary battery technology. With its own design of the battery, Apple should be able to cut down costs for the battery, and increase the car's range. This could potentially threaten Tesla as the battery champion of vehicles.
Apple is reportedly exploring batteries with LFP chemistry, that is, lithium iron phosphate, which are less likely to overheat than other lithium-ion batteries.
The fact that the range of the cars can increase is explained, among other things, by the fact that they have a design that enables more active material in the battery.

Apples doesn't comment
It is not clear if Apple would build its own vehicles. It is likely that you can cooperate with a manufacturer, according to sources.
Apple also snatches well-respected Tesla engineer which helps to raise speculation about electric vehicles. Apple does not want to comment on any of the recent stories.
It may also be the case that Apple in the end still chooses to focus on its self-developed system for self-driving cars, with the aim that this will be integrated into other manufacturers' vehicles.

Is this a stunt to just raise the stockprice of Apple or is this something that might happen?
