Paying Forward: Staking 1000 SPT Tokens

I've been playing splinterlands in my second season and while I'm a newb with not much knowledge of the "big picture" something is telling me that I'm seriously underestimating the future.

I do feel this game will reach critical mass and get a million if not millions of players. But, not playing before and not paying attention to the community over my over 4 years on steem/hive other than buying a few starter packs, has left me guessing and taking some shots in the dark.

I am loving game play and see why people are compelled to play and I know this has legs. My self questioning comes in the form of how I handle my Splinterland assets and capitalizing on them. I'm not trying to be greedy but I do want to recover some of the assets that I never earned because I couldn't figure out gameplay when the game started back in the day.

So I want to make solid decisions and recognize where the opportunities come from. One way I've been helped is by earning spt on Splintertalk.io. But what I figured it is that converting the SPT to DEC is personally more profitable right now than holding SPT liquid for the airdrop. I've calculated things at current prices but have never looked into the past.

I understand by reading splinter posts as I try to learn that DEC is very expensive compared to what it is supposed to pegged at. So my methods might be temporary and not part of the long financial game. I earned SPT from votes on my posts and as we all know, most come from the @monster-curator and when they add up, they wean some nice air drop ponts with sill over 300 days to go.

My math told me that I would fare a little better by selling the STP for DEC but morally I want to do my part. SPT offers airdrop rewards points though cut in 4 when compared to DEC. They don't convert to have at the same price but lately we will get more DEC than SPT. But I did that with the SPT voted for me last week.

So this week I am doing version two. I'm going to take 1000 liquid SPT to Stake in my account and curate 100% votes. This will help incourage authors and take a little heat off the monster. Then my next 1000 will to a delegation so I can help do a little dirty work. Manual Curation is not easy. I've done it for other communities. and it takes time.

Now some my disagree with me but I think we are still early in the drop and squooshing 1000 SPT into the fold will profit me over time.
