Money Is The Root Of All Good
Hey Jessavers
I think we’ve all heard the expression “money is the root of all evil” and I can totally see why people would say that! We have seen people do so many horrible things to one another for the sake of money, some direct like robbery and some indirect with the creation of poor food substitutes that make us sick to cut costs.
Living in a country where unemployment is sky high and opportunities are limited I’ve seen a lot of the things people are willing to do for money, to either survive or to thrive.
That I cannot deny but we also cannot discount the good money does too!
Money is just a tool
Like any tool it can be used for creation or used for destruction. A hammer on one mans hand can build something and in another mans hands can destroy something it’s all the intent behind the tool.
To me, money is the same! We can use it to better our societies, help our fellow man, provide a better quality of life or we can use it to oppress and enslave our fellow man.
Money amplifies the attributes of the holder and with it, you can drive any agenda good or bad.
There are both good and bad people in this world
I hear it all the time if only this company had a good CEO, if only this country had a good President they could use the resources properly. We focus so much on the centralisation of power around good people being the way we solve the issues plaguing society.
But to me, to get to those positions of power in the first place you need to strip yourself of a lot of good or you won’t get there! There’s a filter of compromise that is ensures very few good people do make it to those positions of power and if they do they are surrounded by those who would actively work against them.
The unlimited power that comes from the printing press amplify the ability to centralise decision making and flows of capital to serve a select few.
Decentralized hard money is not a silver bullet
I do believe in Bitcoin, I do think it can help but I don’t yet believe in the whole fix the money fix the world narrative. I do think it can help limit the influence of certain institutions and narratives and allow for counter narratives and competing institutions to sprout up.
The best way to keep someone honest is to be able to pull resources and give them to one another. The best way to keep someone honest is to be able to put resources in as many hands as possible and allow them to compete.
The best way to do this is with sound money that cannot be confiscated. Bitcoin to me is the greatest social experiment the world has ever seen, I am biased and I hope it works.
I know money will always be used to do harm, even with Bitcoin. But if we can try to tilt it a little bit more to good each day then I say it’s worth pushing forward.

I think the moment most of us see money as a tool, a very different approach to acquiring it will arise, an approach of going to extents of using people will reduce.
I like the idea of using money instead of people. It is only a poor mindset, an envious mind that will stick to the saying "money is the root of all evil"
It's currently a nightmare loading my feeds on Leofinance front end, can't wait for this issues to be fix, I assume am not the only one encountering this issue.
I can totally understand why people would hate it and shun it because they have been shafted by the way the current system works!
I don't blame them, but it doesn't solve the problem!

even with decen, hard money, the world will still always be political. as i say, our minds are still fucked, and as long as we're in these insane race and nationalism games of antagonism, we'll have a shit load of problems. we have to flip the entire script, along the lines of what y. varoufakis says (and others). we need to go from debt to abundance. everyone is born with credits, earn their own credits, and also have some type of social credits dispersed, continually cycling. generative and distributive society, instead of centralized blood sucking extraction antagonism. did i make my point as clear as mud ??!! 😆
Oh I get you it doesn't fix human nature and power structures overnight it might influence it a little but the fact remains we love control and love to get something for nothing
Bitcoin may offer an escape to some and enrich them but will it be enough to flip power structures and get more decision makers thinking an equity based system is better than a debt based one
And even then in an equity based system will we be able to maintain it without finding ways to break away into a fractional reserve system again and follow the same path we're in now
life is a continuing struggle, all we can do is try to bend the arc towards justice ... that's about all it know 👍
Second to this, yes it will help the current monetary situation, but not for bitcoin, we might have some other coin in the future. we can already see, how now big institutions are throwing big amounts of money toward bitcoin, when they have big control over it, then it might be used as the milking cow for them.

My view on this is they can throw was much money as they like they can only enrich the rest of us in the network by doing so, they can run the mining they only protect the network
In Bitcoin it's the nodes that provide the last line of defence and it's pretty hard to collide with 10 000+ noces
ys it can also benefit us by driving the price up, but what I fear is that they can easily coordinate the pump and dump scheme when they have lots of bitcoin holding, leaving the ordinary paper hands to lose money.
I understand that fear but what I feel about this is eveyeones fear of never being able to get back in again and as Bitcoin dumps continue to get picked up as new users come in trying to dump means you end up with less Bitcoin
I know it’s not always the case now since it’s still small but later when it’s bigger it could be the case
The thing is if Bitcoin can’t be anti fragile then there’s really no hope for the entire crypto market of which none are decentralized as Bitcoin is
It's basically my narrative as well. Just having BTC means the normal folk who have been holding will be richer. It won't be able to solve all issues but it has pretty much helped other cryptos such as ETH and HIVE get off on their own feet.

Yeah okay let's say Bitcoin and Cryptos make a bunch of people wealthy what does that really change apart from those individuals being better off? Unless these people use their wealth positively it hardly changes much in my view

I am sure that bad people would also get around bitcoin. Good part is that it’s decentralised but bad is that this can be centralised (theoretically) is but share of bitcoin is owned by a few people. They will be in a position to drive it. Is not it ? But I do believe that this solve the basic issue of money being centralised in first place.

Even if they owned a lot of Bitcoin if the nodes don't approve their transactions it won't matter, so there is still a fail safe and the worst case would be less coins in circulation that the nodes consider Bitcoin
In theory yes it can be corrupted but it would take a massive operation that's not easy to pull off
Lack of money/tool/resource in order to survive and thrive is the root of all evil I guess
Oh that for sure drives people to do evil things too, but it’s because money is misused by those who get special access to it
I say cut off all the access for everyone you want money it has to be proof of work
Interesting take that can be applied to just about anything.
