The well meaning shitcoiner

avatar

Hey Jesshitcoiners

Ever since Bitcoin was launched, there's been a literal explosion of coins, all with their pros and cons. I think we can all accept that the vast majority, upwards of 90% of coins, are blatant scams; anyone who knows anything about cryptocurrency and has read these whitepapers can see it's a lot of rubbish.

But since crypto isn't measured by what it does but what it's valued at relative to the dollar, people frenzy in to try and grab their share of the spoils. There are so many shitcoiners and dogetubers out there who are always bullish and pumping every coin to the moon.

We all know these shit coin accounts that pop up during bull runs ready to rek noobs and profit off of the greed in the market, but this is not the persona I want to tackle today. The one I want to look at is the shitcoiner who doesn't realise they are a shitcoin bag holder.

Paving a road of good intentions

Most of the time, it's well-meaning individuals who don't quite understand deeply enough what decentralisation means, how all the tokenomics work, why certain things are fundamentally a scam and how the founders benefit from your naivety.

These shitcoiners have swallowed the marketing pitch hook line and sinker and are going to parrot off the white paper, and their favourite projects bullshit claims on their Twitter account as if they cannot be disputed.

The sad thing is they don't realise they are suckering unsuspecting friends and family into scams and not only rek themselves but those they care about. If you had no morals, this would be fine, but these people actually have morals; they are just misguided.

I see it all the time; I think we all have our own shitcoin journey, and many will make the same mistakes. You cannot tell someone not to shitcoin; they need first to try it, realise that it's all a lie and then come to their conclusions.

There is no sense in reasoning with these people, and in a decentralised world, it's part of the game. No government is coming to save you; no bank will bail you out; only you can save yourself. If you're going to take risk you don't understand, and if you're going to make poor economic decisions, the best way to learn is to get burned.

Once you realise how quickly value can be stolen from you in the shitcoin market, you'll understand why Bitcoin is such a revolutionary asset.

Have your say

What do you good people of HIVE think?

I agree that We all have experience with shitcoin journey. Sometime even we do not realise that we are also misguide the others.
I think safe strategy is to do some research and make you decision and always invest that money that you don’t need immediately as you could loose it.
I use my test money in these new coins and only spent a little to test with a mindset that I could loose it and always withdraw my investment as soon as there is opportunity to take it out form the profit and leave the rest invested.

Yeah I'm also of the opinion shit coin as much as you want, the lesson is humbling, some get it after 1 roud of shitcoining others will take longer and well end up with zero. I don't see the point telling people what to do always best to learn on your own

Well yes there are a bunch of coins with zero use cases. For example, I recently saw coins for MuteElon, ElonSperm and a bunch of other ones. I don't think they hold any utility value so I didn't buy any. But occasionally, we will see a huge pump and someone gets rich such as those who got in early into Shiba Inu. So I feel like its more like a lottery ticket with horrible chances at winning.

I think you need to apply that thinking to a lot more coins than you think, those are just the most obvious ones, you can move up all the top 100 with that lense and you'll start to see the cracks in many of these coins

Do you have a specific token in mind? Does it start with an L and end with a K? That is the first one I would be thinking of! Heck, there is a good chance I fall into this category with some of my investments. Who knows...

Oh man I could go down the list and rip many of the current favourites apart as to why it is a shitcoin we're all guilty of it. I am a tough sell, I can't be won over by promises I would rather be late to the party and use a working product than believe all the hype around alts, I need to see it work and work well. Perhaps I miss out on the gains, but I can't take so much risk since I don't have that much capital to spare.

Lol the South African rand doesn't afford me much room for error, so it encourages me to try and research and not take too much risk
