Hello Friends,

Bitcoin just surpassed $36,000!!!!!
Oh, my limited investment is more than double now and here I am with another blog for the Splinterlands Weekly Challenge of SHARE YOUR BATTLE and I share a battle fought against another Water splinter lineup.
This week's challenge features Water splinter monster of Sea Monster.

Sea Monster, as we know, belongs to rewards cards category and is an Earth Splinter common melee attack monster which has 2 nice abilities which we will see below:

The above screenshot provides level-wise details of the melee attack, speed and health this monster possess and also the details of abilities viz heal and thorn.
Melee attack starts at 4 and increases to 5 as it moves up to level 4 of the 10 levels.
speed varies between 1 to 3 with level 1 having single speed and level 2 to 6 having 2 and remaining ones 3.
Health is BIG positive for this healing monster which starts at 8 and increases upto 12 at final level.

Abilities as I mentioned above, healing to self heal just before it attacks in each round and thorns helps it to attack back the melee monsters by throwing thorns and reduce the health.

Battle and Lineup:

This was the battle with 23 MANA cap and there were rulesets of Unprotected(no armors) and Lost Magic(no magic attack monsters allowed in the battle).
Since the magic monsters not allowed to battle, I planned to use Sea Monster at the front since it can self heal and also keep melee monsters at check with thorns.
My lineup for this battle is as explained below:

Lineup:

1. Sea Monster:

image.png

Used this healing monster knowing that no magic to attack and remove this and the nice health of this monster is always an added advantage and unless there are magic monsters allowed, it will not be an easy task to remove this monster.

2. Wave Runner:

image.png

Waverunner is a good ally for Sea Monster as it also gives good attack of 3 and the additional bonus for this is, it has a speed of 5 and hence, can attack early in each round.

3. Albatross:

image.png

As the magic monsters not allowed in this battle, I thought of strengthening my front monster and hence, used this and Crustacean King in this lineup.

4. Crustacean King:

image.png

As mentioned above, Sea Monster needs to stay alive to win this battle and hence 2 healers in this lineup.

5. Pirate Captain:

image.png

As this inspires the melee monsters besides giving a snipe attack of 2, I thought of using this for a better melee attack.

6. Furious Chicken:

image.png

Last but not least, Furious Chicken to fill the last vacant slot for the monsters so as to delay the exposure of back end monsters to sneak attack if any.

Opponent used monsters Sea Monster, Furious Chicken, Crustacean King, Naga Windmaster and Water Elemental.

Battle:

The comfort of knowing that, there are no magic monsters is a great feeling when we want to use a particular melee monster and this battle was a battle of 2 Sea Monsters as both lineups were from Water Splinter.

Round 1:

Attack-wise, both lineups had same amount of attack, but the deciding factor in this battle was the speed of attack of monsters and Sea Monster I used had 1+ speed compared to the one used by opponent and that made opponent lose 2 monsters in the form of Sea Monster and Furious Chicken in this round.

Round 2:

I guess the removal of Sea Monster from opponent's lineup made his attack weak one as his remaining monsters all were ranged attack monsters and Crustacean King and Naga Windmaster have to bite the dust in this round leaving Water Elemental to face the music as it can't attack from front position.

Round 3:

It just took few iterations to take out Wave Elemental and this battle got over in just over 2 rounds!!11

Questions and Answers:

Did my strategy work? What will I try differently next time?

Yes, as we see those 3 rounds of battle, the strategy to use 2 healers to protect Sea Monster did work and also the monster having better speed than opponent's was also a plus for me.
If I have to try a different combination, may be, I would have used Creeping Ooze instead of Albatross to slow down monsters on other side.

Do you like the SEA MONSTER? Why or why not?

I do use it a lot either as front monster or backend monster when there is a super sneak battle, but mostly as front monster because of it's thorn ability and good attack with healing.

That was one of the shortest battle I had for these Weekly Challenges and I hope, as usual, you guys liked this battle and enjoyed going thru the step by step details of the battle.
