My investment in dCrops and unopened alpha packs
DCALPHA is the asset for dCrop's Alpha packs.
I hold 90 of those packs called Alpha packs, and each was purchased at USD $2 some time ago. That would be $180.
I just checked out the market situation for DCALPHA.
The Buy orders above suggest that there isn't much interest to buy DCALPHA. I can sell 9 at 8.003 Hive, and a few more above 6 Hive. That's it. My dCrops DCALPHA is basically illiquid.
My Alpha packs are literally unsellable.
That is not surprising since there are Beta packs on sale at USD $3 each.
So, is my foray into the dCrops game a bad decision? Am I losing money here?
Fortunately, since my Alpha packs are unopened, I am earning some staking rewards from them. Every day, I get approximately 0.3 Hive. That can be estimated to be 109.5 Hive per year. In today's price of about $0.35 per Hive, that will be USD 38.325.
Assuming my daily rewards are mostly due to the unopened packs alone, 38.325 divided by 180 or 21% per annum gains is not too bad. If I add that to the harvesting of CROPS I am getting, which is about $2 per month, the gain goes up to about 35% per year (i.e. $24 + $38.325 divided by $180). That does look pretty good!
If I were just starting to buy dCrops Beta packs today, assuming it pays the same staking benefits as the Alpha packs, 90 packs would cost $270, and a similar $38.325 accumulated yearly reward would mean the annual gain is about 14% based on today's Hive price.
Is it a good idea to buy up some Beta packs to stake it? I think much still depends on the price of Hive. The higher Hive moves north of today's price in a year's time, the better my ROI. Duh!
For now, I continue to hang on to my dCrops holdings. In 3 years, I should be able to break even. Since I am on it, I shall just play the game and try to make more CROP per week. Every 1000 CROP is a dollar.

I hold some of these two and in recent months I started to dump these on the market. I figured out that in $HIVE terms I'm happy with this investment. Now I put the profit into $LEO And still more than 200 ALPHA packs in my wallet.
How much are you collecting every day with your 200 unopened packs?
Right now it's around 1HIVE daily. I'm not sure if I don't have some ingame packs too.
It looks like that was a bad investment, but you never know, If they got famous like splinter lands, these packs will be worth many more than that.
It’s actually quite a good and simple game. So I hope it has longevity.
I believe that the price of packages can go up more because of the land that can be in them.

It's a tough choice but most game assets tend to be illiquid. It's up to you but if you are feeling uncomfortable, I would sell a portion of it and take some profits.

The buy order is quite the issue considering it's not that much. With a few $$ sell-off, the price per pack could go at around value-less.
I missed the game when it started, I am quite waiting for Genesis Soccer League to launch as I did have 110 unopened packs staked too. Earning around 6-7 Hive per day, with a $500 investment.
If I assume, considering most of my GLX rewards were immediately converted into Hive and I powered it up (if you check my wallet history), I think I already earned about 600-650 Hive already. The game has not yet started and if starts, I will open some packs and continue to stake some opened ones.
