It's certainly a very wise thing to set monthly — or at least quarterly — goals and benchmarking on a regular basis.

Having a goal of retiring by such-and-such a date is great, but have you also defined what "retiring" also means to you? What will you be doing with your assets? What will you be doing with your time? How do you envision funding the things you want to do?
