Hello Everyone,

Welcome to Saturday Savers Club with Susie Saver.

Interesting posts this week

@eddie-earner has been out and about with an update about EDS tokens. There are now only 929 EDSM tokens left, so now is the time to start picking up one a week if you want to build your stack.

@solymi has been writing about investments including EDSM, plus a chance to win one CUB. Have a look and see if you can work out the puzzle.

Now then - this week's EDS winners!

Every week, you have the chance to win EDS tokens for commenting. Last week we had comments from @gillianpearce @ericburgoyne @solymi @bearmol @no-advice @justclickindiva @missaj @jfang003 and @chrisparis (who is fine) 😁.

Okay, everyone who commented last week went into the WheelofNames and two winners came out: @chrisparis and @no-advice - yay!

- Congratulations!

Check your Hive Engine wallets Saturday Savers!

Thank you for taking part in Saturday Savers Club, everyone!

What's been happening in your world this week? anything exciting or fun? Tell us in the comments - you could win some EDS tokens 😁.

More about EDS tokens

EDS tokens are a low-risk income token, ideal for people who want to save. There were only 20,000 originally and they were all sold at 1 Hive each, with guaranteed earnings of 12% each year. You can now acquire EDS tokens through the EDS Miner token.

Earnings come from powering up and leasing out the Hive that came from selling the tokens, plus earnings from posts and comments each week. EDS pays out every Monday evening. Last week the pay out was equivalent to 22%.

Back to business ...

We're going to be here every Saturday through the year growing a little savings honey pot, if you have plans for saving or getting to a different place this time next year - maybe $5 Hive by the end of the year 🤑?

Whatever it is, stick with Susie Saver through the year and we'll get there. Along the way, we'll share lots of tips and tricks for saving and how to get the knack of making your money work for you and not the other way round.

Let's Get Started

We're using the 365 Penny A Day Challenge framework for the Saturday Savers Club. We're aiming to save £667 worth of pennies by the end of the year.

Right click on the image, save it to your computer and then print it out.

Okay, let's check in ...

1. Check Progress

Each week, we're going to check in through this post and see where we are up to. Our target for today, 1st May, was 8.26p. Next week, we'll be saving 8.75p and by Saturday we'll have savings of 82.59p (look how that is growing)!

Each week, I'll be buying Hive for @susie-saver's account with the pennies we've saved.

Here's this week's results - 8.26p buys 13.152 Hive.
Nearly 200 Hive saved in 18 weeks! Plus we're earning 3.22% inflation on powered up Hive, and 22% on EDS tokens!

@susie-saver has powered this week's savings bringing her account to 98.557 HP. She's aiming for 500HP - what's your goal?

How much did you save this week? Did you meet your target? Or did you save even more?

Being accountable to another person or a group is a great way to motivate yourself to save (or anything you want to achieve). Of course, you need the right kind of people around you - ones that think what you're trying to do is worth doing ... or at least fun 😁.

Sign up here with us to start your savings journey:

  • just leave a comment below if you want to join the challenge.
  • follow @eddie-earner so you never miss a post (Eddie has lots of ideas about how to make money - he's the earner, I'm the saver - you'll like his posts).

2. The Golden Pig Tip

saturday savers club.jpg

Every week, we're going to share a Golden Pig Tip for saving. By the time you've tried them all you'll have £670 saved.

This Week's Golden Pig Tip

This week's Golden Pig Tip is from a super-saver in @susie-saver's family who has nearly saved enough to renovate her house:

Check your spending everyday by checking your bank balance - are you on target with your savings? Is there somewhere you could save a few pennies tomorrow? Maybe a meatless meal or not buying takeaway food and drink?

And today is always a good day to start saving - you can start on Day 1 or make up the first seventeen weeks to catch up with @susie-saver. Or join our 100 day savings backwards challenge 😁.

That's it for this week. Hope you've enjoyed it and look forward to seeing you next Saturday with progress so far and our next Golden Pig tip.

@eddie-earner content contributed by @silverstackeruk and @shanibeer.
Today's post by @shanibeer writing as @susie-saver.

EDS, @eddie-earner's income token, is part of the SPinvest family including SPI (@spinvest), LBI (@lbi-token) and the @spinvest-leo account - a cool club in the making. Spinvest Family Motto: Get Rich Slowly.

Nearly 200 Hive Hive saved in 18 weeks!

That's great!

I'm a bit all over the place with what to do with my little bit of Hive right now. I reached my 1000 LEO target and I did my BTC dollar cost averaging last weekend so that's good. I'm still trying to get my figures together but I keep getting distracted by something new to get involved with. It's like for everything I stop doing there's 2 new opportunities. 😂

Yes - got to catch them all! 😁

What are your figures about?

What are your figures about?

Just a record of what tokens I have and how much, if anything, they earn me.

Once I have that I can then decide what I want to do next.

Ah, I see. Have you got a big spread of tokens? I keep my portfolio fairly small.

Have you got a big spread of tokens?

Difficult to say. It's all relative isn't it? But I seem to spend more time than I'd like trying to keep track of them. I have 5 or 6 on crypto.com for example that I got from supercharger events that are useless in that the amounts earned are smaller than the minimum withdrawal cost. I need to work out how to switch that off and then decide what to do with the crypto.com tokens that I don't need if I'm out of the supercharger.

That's just one of the examples of the chaos I find myself in.

I'm also in the the CUB den and the DEC-BUSD liquidity pools. And then this week I put some of my Starbits into the VFT farm so yet another thing to monitor.

I'm trying to get it all recorded so I know were I stand now and can decide what I want to keep and what I want to get rid of moving forward. But, as I said, for everything I let go of another 2 opportunities present themselves. 😂

I see your challenge! You're much more adventurous than me 🙂. I'm really busy at the moment, so Saturday Savers Club is about my limit. I was impressed I managed to screenshot wallets on 5th April 😂. I have an idea to look at NFTs, though, when things settle down a little, maybe collect some art - something genteel and soothing 😂

That is impressive.

Can't say I get the point of art NFTs although I've looked into it from the other side - turning some of my art into an NFT. It will pose the same challenges as selling the real thing I think though - photography and marketing.

Hope you're having a fun weekend! 😊

I think NFTs are at an early stage of what will be an interesting development for all kinds of creatives. We're a long way off normalising NFTS but, as with everything, there's a years-long adoption cycle.

I’m really surprised that EDSM sales have been a bit lackluster. Is locking in a 20% annual return just too boring for some people? 😄

I think that might be exactly right.

There's a lot of distractions at the moment, and some look much more sexy, even if they do involve a lot of work.

I know EDSM is a fairly good investment but I don't mind if it takes a little longer to sell out. It would give the rest of us staking our miners a better chance at the lottery.

Are there EDSMM coming out after the EDSM are sold out?

Great tips, although I think automating your savings and transfer only what is left to spend (after bills and fixed expenditure for rent/mortgage yada yada) is the best way to go. Last year had a long tough look at all coming in and going out monthly and separated everything into dedicated accounts, setting up auto transfers for saving and investing and for both of us a fixed amount we can freely spend however we see fit. Works like a charm and we've been able to save more than ever! Only thing I'd recommend is to be flexible and adjust the amounts if necessary..

I like the idea of saving a fixed amount every month.

It's a game changer, doesn't even have to be much to add up over time! As it never reaches my spending account I don't even miss it :-)

I think having it automated and send away right after the money comes in is the most important.

It’s like automating a car 🚙 payment or mortgage. Only this time it’s your saving. Awesome 😎

Indeed, we actually automated some extra mortgage payments in the process too. It's not much but like with investing after some time a snow ball effect will happen and it will get easier too.

Sure feels that way, but I realize how fortunate of a situation I'm in to be able to do this now. How are you doing?

That's a great idea @riandeuk and one I follow myself. If someone is able to do that, it's a great way to go. An interesting thing that happens, when you start saving, is that you become more aware of what you are spending and create even more savings, sometimes almost advertently.

0

avatar

Yeah it started by getting a good overview of monthly spending with fixed and variable separated. Then seeing what was necessary and what wasn't adding any value anymore. Then checking which of the necessary could be gotten at a lower cost and finally setting up a budget based of of these numbers and the automated transfers.

Very happy we did :-)

And like you said, the awareness creates more opportunities.

She's aiming for 500HP - what's your goal?

Hi @shanibeer
I’m aiming for 500 Hive Power by July 5th. I’m now at 374HP.

I’ll be posting a complete report of my progress up to May 5th on May 6th. Hopefully by then I’ll earn a few more HP from my content to make the report look better😉.

Congratulations to this week’s winners.

Thanks. Will do.
The reputation score is now at 59.98. Only .02 more to reach 60.

I wonder at what level minnow status will kick in?

Around 523HP. Good to know. That means a reasonable goal 🥅 would be the next two months.
Thanks again @shanibeer

Greetings club members,
My 500 yen saving is going on fine. I’ve reached about 6000 yen($60) in two weeks . I’m dedicated to this process. I’ll start putting away a little from my private lessons for the Jamaica trip. I plan to start that this month. Forward ever backward never.

Hello @eddie-earner It was a good week for me as far as investments and savings. Check out my post here:

https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@justclickindiva/continuing-my-2nd-100-days-of-saving-during-week-18-by-justclickindiva-or-saturday-savers-club

Also, congratulations to @chrisparis and @no-advice for being the lucky winner of the WheelOfNames spin.

It's good to see @susie-saver powered up again this week growing the account. Did you participate in the Hive PUD day today?

Finally, I just returned home as I went out to vote in our May 1st run-off election in our county. After we finished, we decided to get some take out from our favorite bar-be-que restaurant. Total cost $49. When I logged on and just your TIP just now, I had to laugh about the spending money on take out. Yes, I'll have to make up for the $49 spent today. But in my defense, we delicious food we bought was worth it. I did include a chef salad that will last at least 3 days with the two of us eating on it. That's my justification, mind you!

But you're correct. We have to think about how and when we spend to see areas where we can save. I've been doing that diligently for a while. When weak moments occur, I have to give in because I'm thrifty and not overly indulgent.

As Weight Watchers always said, "don't beat yourself up about it. Just do better next time." Thanks WW for the reminder. I have to say though, this restaurant has the best Southern Potato Salad in Texas. Now, let me go find $49 to replace this expense.

Hope everyone had a good week of saving and investing.

For those who are trying to decide whether to participate in the Saturday Savers Club, please read the post above. Starting small is the key to success as mentioned last week.

See you next week and keep on track until then.

Hehe - sometimes takeout is the only thing that will do 😍. The food you have in the States sounds soooooo delicious. I'm looking forward to making a trip one time - I might never step outside eating houses 😂.

I think it is right to have treats every now and then, within your budget, otherwise it can be too much of a grind and then people give up. When we're looking at personal survival budgets in our business courses, we always make people factor in things like festivals and anniversaries, gift-giving and small treats.

Actually, that would be a good challenge - ideas for money-saving or no cost treats! I'll try and remember that for a future post.

Yes, @susie-saver is doing fine - much better than I did my first time round 😂.

Great to see you and good to see your wonderful progress. Have a lovely week.
