Hello Everyone,

Welcome to Saturday Savers Club with Susie Saver.

CUBLIFE - A new savings opportunity

PRE-SALE
The pre-sale for CUBLIFE (CL) tokens runs until Thursday 20th May at 20:59 UTC. Here is the full story. You can purchase CL tokens now using either LEO or HIVE(p) on Hive-Engine by sending any amount to @cublife.

1st CL TOKEN ISSUE
Friday 21 May 2021 at 22:00 UTC: the first CL tokens will be issued to everyone who bought them over the previous three weeks.

1st Dividend Pay Out
Friday 28 May (and every Friday after that) at 21:00 UTC, the first dividends will be released to CL holders.

Why this is a good savings opportunity

  1. Each month, you can set aside Hive you have earned to buy CL tokens (or send it to @cublife every week) and receive the next round of CL tokens issued on 21st of the month.
  2. Each week, you can choose to re-invest your dividends and buy more CL tokens, increasing your stake and your dividends.
  3. There are a million CL tokens, so plenty of time to get into your CL savings groove, without feeling FOMO and that you have to rush.

What do you think Saturday Savers? CL or EDSM? Tell us in the comments!

Now then - this week's EDS winners!

Every week, you have the chance to win EDS tokens for commenting. Last week we had comments from @gillianpearce @ericburgoyne @bearmol @justclickindiva @missaj @jfang003 @chrisparis, @riandeuk and @preparedwombat.

Okay, everyone who commented last week went into the WheelofNames and two winners came out: @missaj and @preparedwombat - yay!

This week we have an extra prize: @ericburgoyne has reached (and passed) 5,000HP and there's an extra EDS heading your way - double yay!

- Congratulations!

Check your Hive Engine wallets Saturday Savers!

Thank you for taking part in Saturday Savers Club, everyone!

What's been happening in your world this week? anything exciting or fun? Tell us in the comments - you could win some EDS tokens 😁.

More about EDS tokens

EDS tokens are a low-risk income token, ideal for people who want to save. There were only 20,000 originally and they were all sold at 1 Hive each, with guaranteed earnings of 12% each year. You can now acquire EDS tokens through the EDS Miner token.

Earnings come from powering up and leasing out the Hive that came from selling the tokens, plus earnings from posts and comments each week. EDS pays out every Monday evening. Last week the pay out was equivalent to 22%.

Back to business ...

We're going to be here every Saturday through the year growing a little savings honey pot, if you have plans for saving or getting to a different place this time next year - maybe $5 Hive by the end of the year 🤑?

Whatever it is, stick with Susie Saver through the year and we'll get there. Along the way, we'll share lots of tips and tricks for saving and how to get the knack of making your money work for you and not the other way round.

Let's Get Started

saturday_savers_club.jpg

Image by Andy M. from Pixabay Yep, it's that chicken again, I might never change it. 😂

We're using the 365 Penny A Day Challenge framework for the Saturday Savers Club. We're aiming to save £667 worth of pennies by the end of the year.

Penny a Day Tracker Sheet

Right click on the image, save it to your computer and then print it out.

Okay, let's check in ...

1. Check Progress

Each week, we're going to check in through this post and see where we are up to. Our target for today, 8th May, was 8.75p. Next week, we'll be saving 9.24p and by Saturday we'll have savings of 91.83p (look how that is growing)!

Each week, I'll be buying Hive for @susie-saver's account with the pennies we've saved.

Here's this week's results - 8.75p buys 14.44 Hive.
Nearly 215 Hive saved in 19 weeks! Plus we're earning 3.22% inflation on powered up Hive, and 22% on EDS tokens!

@susie-saver has powered this week's savings; she's also been voting following a curation trail and started posting using @actifit app, bringing her account to 113.676HP. She's aiming for 500HP - what's your goal?

How much did you save this week? Did you meet your target? Or did you save even more?

Being accountable to another person or a group is a great way to motivate yourself to save (or anything you want to achieve). Of course, you need the right kind of people around you - ones that think what you're trying to do is worth doing ... or at least fun 😁.

Sign up here with us to start your savings journey:

  • just leave a comment below if you want to join the challenge.
  • follow @eddie-earner so you never miss a post (Eddie has lots of ideas about how to make money - he's the earner, I'm the saver - you'll like his posts).
  • share this post if you think your followers might be interested.

2. The Golden Pig Tip

saturday savers club.jpg

Image by 3D Animation Production Company from Pixabay

Every week, we're going to share a Golden Pig Tip for saving. By the time you've tried them all you'll have £670 saved.

This Week's Golden Pig Tip

This week's Golden Pig Tip is from @riandeuk, who wins an extra EDS token (more yay!):

"I think automating your savings and transfer only what is left to spend (after bills and fixed expenditure for rent/mortgage yada yada) is the best way to go. Last year had a long tough look at all coming in and going out monthly and separated everything into dedicated accounts, setting up auto transfers for saving and investing and for both of us a fixed amount we can freely spend however we see fit. Works like a charm and we've been able to save more than ever!

"It's a game changer, doesn't even have to be much to add up over time! As it never reaches my spending account I don't even miss it :-) ... I think having it automated and send away right after the money comes in is the most important.

As @bearmol said, "It’s like automating a car 🚙 payment or mortgage. Only this time it’s your saving. Awesome 😎"

And today is always a good day to start saving - you can start on Day 1 or make up the first nineteen weeks to catch up with @susie-saver. Or join our 100 day savings backwards challenge 😁.

That's it for this week. Hope you've enjoyed it and look forward to seeing you next Saturday with progress so far and our next Golden Pig tip.

@eddie-earner content contributed by @silverstackeruk and @shanibeer.
Today's post by @shanibeer writing as @susie-saver.

EDS, @eddie-earner's income token, is part of the SPinvest family including SPI (@spinvest), LBI (@lbi-token) and the @spinvest-leo account - a cool club in the making. Spinvest Family Motto: Get Rich Slowly.

I actually bought a couple of dips of bitcoin this week so that was good. Even better was I finally got around to staking my odd tokens to Brofi and am now earning a small amount of BRO with them every day.

I've also staked my excess Starbits to earn VFT tokens.

Next I need to come up with some sort of cashing out plan. I'm a bit stumped at this point since I don't want to cash out to Fiat but I feel like the amount of Hive I've be cashing out would be too small to make it worth it to buy another token with it. I'm still mulling it over. 😂

I shall be keeping an eye out for Susiesaver's actifit posts.

I'm impressed that you're buying in the dips, I always seem to look just after the dip. I would be better setting up a daily fiat amount to buy and just doing it 😂. Also good that you've found a way to get drips from your other tokens. I heard yesterday that millionaires have, on average, seven different sources of passive income (they don't do the grind like the rest of us)!

Hmm, my move in this situation is always "do nothing", especially if I can add small amounts through curation etc. (not financial advice etc).

@susiesaver's new dedicated mobile phone came a cropper yesterday and fell out of my back pocket into a bucket of water (this sort of mishap occurs every time I attempt housework). I was looking at mobile purses only last week, but they are all too glamorous for everyday wear: @marblely came up with a design for a crocheted one with an additional waist band to stabilise the purse (otherwise they bang against your hip or work their way round to the middle of your front). Never mind, I'm getting in some pretty impressive steps - 19k+ on Friday - and the health benefits are there regardless of the blockchain.

I always seem to look just after the dip.

I just look and see what the lowest point was in the last 24 hours and put a limit order in around that point.

It worked again this morning. My order was filled around 11 a.m. it seems. it's gone up by about $350 since then. Mind you since I only bought 0.001 it's hardly worth the effort. Feels good though. 😁

It's exactly this sort of thing that makes exercising and housework so dangerous in my opinion. 😂 😂 😂

Your steps are impressive. I struggle to do 5K on a lot of days. When I'm away from home doing large numbers is a piece of cake but in my usual routine it's a bit of a challenge.

I agree - makes investing in crypto look risk-free!
I'm a bit erratic with the steps, when work gets heavy-duty, steps go out the window so I wanted something that motivated me a bit.

I am saving the amount I required for the two ongoing challenges. I did forget and missed meeting the UTC for it to count on chain but I did make sure to get it in before the day ended on my side.

Well done, consistency is all!

Were you adding LBI for the CL snapshot or are you talking about something else?

I was talking about the Saturday Saver Challenges.

I have over 100 LBI and I think I want to diversify into other tokens before going back to LBI. So I guess I will get a few CL tokens but it wouldn't exactly be a bunch. I did send them an additional 25 LEO to convert into CL tokens.

Yes I plan on adding some INDEX for now. Afterwards, I want to add some others like DEHEDGE, BRO and SPI. I have an EDS miner so I will just wait for those lottery chances.

Hello @eddie-earner and @shanibeer what a good week for me. After buying Btc in the dip, I then cooled a bit and took a look at all I was doing and where I stood as far as my investments. I feel I'm in good shape as to where I want to be at this time.

I read LBI's new venture, CubLife, and decided to participate. I'm utilizing half of my savings in the Savers Club to invest in it.

Congratulations to @missaj and @preparedwombat for winning in the WheelOfNames!

Also congratulations to @ericburgoyne for reaching DOLPHINhood. What an accomplishment!

Here is my Week 19 status report of my participation in the Saturday Savers Club:

https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@justclickindiva/week-19-going-strong-with-the-100-days-of-saving-backwards-challenge-plus-new-venture-or-saturday-savers-club

In reading the TIP, I totally agree with the concept of automated savings. I have offline various financial institutions in which I transfer each month funds into savings account. It's so nice to set-and-forget. Besides, it adds up to quickly. And the good thing about it is I don't miss it.

Thanks everyone and see you next week.

Wow, well done buying in the dip - it passed me by!
Always a good plan to take a little time to review abnd plan your next steps.

It's great to see a progression for your savings from the Challenge: you said your goal was to invest in crypto and here you are doing it. Excellent!

I agree with the automated commitment for savings (although I actually enjoy doing it manually at the beginning of the month - it pleases me 😂). Automating is great, though, for people who are busy or may find it more difficult to put savings aside. I love the expression "pay yourself first" - the idea that savings are a payment that has to be made just like taxes and utilities.

Hello. How was your week? Yes, I had a very productive week. I look forward to just relaxing a bit next couple weeks and sorting out all my token buys and stakes.

I love the automated savings. Pay yourself first off the top just like paying your mortgage or car payment and insurance. Otherwise, you'll convince yourself that there's something pressing your need that you can't possibly save $25 this month. When I realized I would never actually hold back the $25 once the first of the month ended at midnight. I knew then I had to do something different. Just eliminating 1 take-out meal a week...and voila...there was my savings. Or better still, buying that amount of items at the thrift store to accumulate more items I'd later toss.

It's a mindset. Once I decided to set-and-forget, it's been part of my life for the past ten years. That $25 monthly savings has helped many family members so I didn't have to use my budgeted monthly income.

Take care and thanks for the engagement.

I had a good week, thanks, I visited family earlier in the week and tried playing golf. I'm planning a quieter week this week, catching up with myself and getting a few jobs done.
I agree about putting savings away, set and forget is right. I love it when I check the balance and see how much it's grown. And I find that I make sure I manage with whatever is left in my current account. Like you, takeaway and idle buys in thrift shops don't get done. I've also started making smaller savings in my current account so I don't break into my savings account when I need something like new spectacles 😂.

Yeah the set-and-forget so you won't miss a month is important, people are distracted too easily. If you can get to grips with that flaw and accept it you're ahead :-)

Hello Saturday Savers @eddie-earner @shanibear,

Congratulations to the winners for this week @missaj @preparedwombat and what a great golden pig tip@riandeuk.

@ericburgoyne I see you’ve surpassed your goal of 5000HP- congratulations!!😎

Like @susie-saver I’m aiming to reach over 500HP ...actually 530HP in my first six months on HIVE. This month I reached my initial goal of building a reputation of 60. I’m now at 60.04 and I’m still working towards becoming a minnow.

You can read my monthly report by clicking the link below.

I reached my initial goal of building a reputation of 60.

Congratulations, this is fabulous to see! I like that you have incremental goals on the way, milestones that you can tick off as you achieve them. Excellent!

Thank you for sharing your progress update, too. Writing these at regular intervals is a really good way of keeping track of how you are doing and very re-inforcing. Minnowhood is not too far away, I'm sure 😍.

Greetings savers!Thank you for the love ❤️.Congratulations to @preparedwombat and @ericburgoyne. @riandeuk this is something I have set up but I might need to make some adjustments. The way I have it now is to save after the bills but I think I might need to adjust those dates and make sure the savings comes first. Thanks a million.
Re my savings - my 500 yen coin can is getting heavier. Five hundred yen is about 4.60 US at today’s exchange rate. Each time I come across one of these coins , I save it. It’s been going well and I’m even trying to get more by adding a couple coins here and there when I pay so the shop keeper will give be a 500 yen coin. I’m also trying to put away a few dollars each month from my private lessons. In these one could easily spend on bills and other expenses. I hope the coins and funds from lessons will pay for a trip to Jamaica 🇯🇲.

You're welcome missaj, good to hear you did! Never be afraid to make adjustments where needed. Life isn't lineair and we all have different financial needs at different times in our lives. Important thing is to have a plan and do what you can.

The bills need to be paid one way or another so I don't think it's bad to save after that. I just make sure there's enough left in the checking account (and a bit extra just as a safety margin), than transfer spending money, savings and investments all at the same day.
