Hello Everyone,

Welcome to Saturday Savers Club with Susie Saver.

What's been happening in your world this week? anything exciting or fun? Tell us in the comments - you could win some EDS tokens 😁.

But first, this week's EDS winners!

Last week we had comments from @thegoliath, @gillianpearce, @erikah, @skylinebuds-leo, @ericburgoyne, @jfang003, @chrisparis, @metzli and newcomer, @bearmol!

I put them all in WheelofNames, spun the wheel (twice) and two winners came out:

@thegoliath and @ericburgoyne - Congratulations!

Check your Hive Engine wallets Saturday Savers!

Thank you, everyone, for taking part in Saturday Savers Club.

More about EDS tokens

EDS tokens are a low-risk income token, ideal for people who want to save. There are only 20,000 and they were all sold at 1 Hive each, with guaranteed earnings of 12% each year.

Earnings come from powering up and leasing out the Hive that came from selling the tokens, plus earnings from posts and comments each week. Each EDS token is now worth about 1.09 Hive, a nice slow steady increase - that's what we like. EDS pays out every Monday evening: last week the pay out was equivalent to nearly 15%, that's already 3% higher than the original guarantee!

There are 500 EDS for sale at 1 Hive this week (correct at the time of writing), and also 14 EDS at 0.999 Hive. Alternatively, you can put in a buy order at a lower price. Check the Hive-Engine market:

Back to business ...

We're going to be here every Saturday through the year growing a little savings honey pot, if you have plans for saving or getting to a different place this time next year - maybe $5 Hive by the end of the year 🤑?

Whatever it is, stick with Susie Saver through the year and we'll get there. Along the way, we'll share lots of tips and tricks for saving and how to get the knack of making your money work for you and not the other way round.

Let's Get Started

We're using the 365 Penny A Day Challenge framework for the Saturday Savers Club. We're aiming to save £667 worth of pennies by the end of the year.

You can use the sheet below to track your progress:

Right click on the image, save it to your computer and then print it out.

Okay, let's check in ...

1. Check Progress

Each week, we're going to check in through this post and see where we are up to. Our target for today, 20th February, was 3.36p. Next week, we'll be saving 3.85p and by Saturday we'll have savings of 17.14p.

Each week, I'll be buying Hive for @susie-saver's account with the pennies we've saved.

Here's this week's results - 3.36p buys 10.56 Hive.

saturday_saver_club.png

Still growing - 72 Hive in eight weeks! Plus we're earning inflation on powered up Hive: see how our 50HP has increased? Overall, the account is worth $23 at today's prices.

How much did you save this week? Did you meet your target? Or did you save even more?

Being accountable to another person or a group is a great way to motivate yourself to save (or anything you want to achieve). Of course, you need the right kind of people around you - ones that think what you're trying to do is worth doing ... or at least fun 😁.

2. The Golden Pig Tip

Every week, we're going to share a Golden Pig Tip for saving. By the time you've tried them all you'll have £670 saved.

Last week, we started making our savings work for us by powering up 50 Hive to start benefiting from Hive inflation.

This Week's Golden Pig Tip

This week's tip is:

Increase your savings by using them to earn an income

So, we're already benefiting from Hive inflation. There are two ways we could start to earn more from our savings - one is active income (we have to do something to earn) and passive income (we make one decision and then let time do the rest):

  • active income - we could earn by posting and curating.
An easy way to start earning through posting is using an app like @actifit. You simply download the app to your mobile phone; start recording steps that you are doing anyway, write a short post, add a picture, publish to Hive and Bob's your uncle!
How about curating? What curating strategies would you use to earn?
  • passive income - we could delegate to a curation trail.
Which curation trail offers the best income? Tell us in the comments.

For liquid Hive (the above options are for Hive Power), there is another passive income source, which is to buy income tokens - SPI, LBI, EDS and INDEX are all income tokens.

Have you got a favourite savings tip? Tell us in the comments.

And today is always a good day to start saving - you can start on Day 1 or make up the first eight weeks to catch up with @susie-saver.

That's it for this week. Hope you've enjoyed it and look forward to seeing you next Saturday with progress so far and our next Golden Pig tip.

Thank you, for another EDS to the collection! I did not expect it, but appreciate being a winner, keep it up.

👍 😁

Thank you for the win and thanks for the tip about the tokens for sale for cheap, managed to grab a few with some loose Hive I had. Keep up the great job. I am adding to my hive each week instead of saving pennies, and that is going well, Have a great week all

Yes, managed to get the token price right this week! 🤣🤣🤣!
Glad you managed to pick up some EDS - let's see if we can create a run on them! Good to hear your Hive additions are going well 🙂.

Hello @eddie-earner My 8th week of participation. I'm on target with my savings. Will publish my weekly post shortly about my week of savings with your Aunt. She's my inspiration. I forgot to participate last week in the spin.

I plan to purchase some EDS Tokens.

Also, congratulations to @thegoliath and @ericburgoyne on your EDS win this week. So happy to see other participants in the Saturday Savers Club.

See you next week.

Hello @justclickindiva 🙂,
So pleased @susie-saver is your inspiration!
Actually, I've just opened a new current (checking) account for managing buying and selling Hive and other crypto. I've been meaning to do it for ages, then Saturday Savers Club prompted me to get on with it 😁.
Well done on your savings, look forward to your post.

I have been buzzing on hive and made some decent amount with upvotes in the hive stock images community: @hive-118554
I hope some of the authors will use them and I will earn some extra.
It has been a cool first active week on the hive. I love it here and I am all about saving up to retire early, so if hive goes to the moon I am on board 🤑

Welcome @solymi, glad you have enjoyed your first week with Hive 🙂.
Are you thinking about joining the Saturday Savers Club? We post every week with tips for saving. If you're saving to retire early, you might want to have a look at the EDS tokens - good prices and brings a steady income.

As soon as I get my payouts from my posts I am eager to invest what makes passive income, I am not quite familiar with the tokenomics on Hive yet, do you have any good advice how to start?

From a quick look at your profile, it looks like you already have some good ideas 🙂.
You might like to have a look at:
@spinvest (SPI token) - weekly holdings and earnings post every Saturday, investment video every Sunday. SPI were originally the equivalent of 1 Hive, price varies daily, but currently worth 5.25 Hive - all backed by Hive and off-platform investments. Also has a 95% buyback option.
@lbi-token (LBI token) - younger than SPI but built on a similar model. Tokens about 1.10 LEO now, I think (check the profile), not paying out income for three months to grow the fund, also has 95% buy-back option.
You can also check the EDS token - there's more about it in the post.

I'm an old @actifit app participant and it's a good way to earn some AFIT + some Hives with the post.

Oh yes, AFIT! I had forgotten about those!

I'm turning my active income into passive on a daily basis as I buy tokens that earn passive income.

This week was exciting as I've found some tokens on the market that have been sold under the nominal value, so I rushed into buying some of them. :)

Do you have a plan or is it organic?

Always good, and a good reason to keep some liquid Hive!

I liked the presentation, I intend to do this challenge, and I wish success and wish you and good luck.

Good to have you with us @kaseldz 🙂.

I like Actifit as I can generalize a few things about the day. I treat it as a way to keep my body healthy and also to blog about whatever I fee like. Recently I have been using it to talk about earning passive income on the WAX blockchain. By playing games and earning NFTs, I can then stake them to earn crypto every hour.

Yes, Actifit can provide an easy way to blog regularly without too much work 😁.

This sounds good!

I think it's nice as it slowly grows over time. My earnings didn't exactly go up today because exchange rate dropped but things don't always go up. I expect a few dips but eventually it should compound over team as the increases per day are linear. I hope I didn't jinx the exchange rates and they keep declining.

😂 - any time I have bought Hive over the past three years it has always immediately dropped in price.

Time is an important factor - an eye on the long game is always good.

Thanks guys for doing this, and congrats @thegoliath and @ericburgoyne!

I've been procrastinating this thing, but it's time to see how can I implement this saving program adapted to my local currency. It's a good one I must admit, so why not use it, right?

Also put in action my own plan, by selling what I don't need and invest the earnings into crypto.

It made a big difference to me last year, really helped me focus and review what I was doing. I had other sorts of goals and savings, but hadn't really put them together as a plan. Apart from anything else, it made me scrutinise expenses, it's amazing how much I have saved simply by changing providers or negotiating a new deal (although my energy provider just went out of business)!

selling what I don't need and invest the earnings into crypto

Do you mean selling offline stuff? I was thinking of having a 50p garage/yard sale when the weather warms a little. I've been collecting things, fixing them and putting them in a box in the garage. I'm also growing some extra plants in re-cycled containers to sell as well. Perhaps we could make that a theme one month and see how much everyone could raise between us?

!ENGAGE 20

We don't have garage/yard sales here, only flea market, where you can't get much for your stuff, especially if you're selling clothes. Second hand shops have sales where you can buy as low as $0.2 a piece, so I chose to reuse clothes, make bags and sell those :D Reusing every piece is more fun and can get a whole lot more.

We have a couple of eBay-like platforms and I was thinking of listing my stuff on those. Spring cleaning is due, so it's a great occasion.

I'm not sure how happy the leofinance community would be about a topic like that but I believe it's a good idea, it can encourage others to turn into saving mode and transform their unnecessary things into something profitable.
