The first episode of 'Hive Layer-II Tokens' received a very wholehearted response from our crypto community, last time I made a post on the FUN token by the LOLZ team.

Today, I am back with another Layer-II token on the HIVE blockchain and today we will throw some light on the ECU token. I will also announce the winners who took part in the #Threads Competition last week, the threads competition was an effort to engage our lions to participate in LeoThreads.

What is ECU Token?

ECU stands for "Electronic Coin Unit", and this token is the national currency of a virtual micronation called "Principality of Bastion". This virtual micronation has a ruler as well, and that ruler is none other than himself Prince @ItharaGaian.

Value of ECU Token:

ECU token is backed by HBD, which means 1 ECU equals 1 HBD. Anyone can order minting of new ECU tokens by interacting with @ItharaGaian on Hive or Discord channel, but the price of ECU will always remain 1 HBD.

To maintain the price of ECU, the management has created a special account to hold HBD against each ECU minted. If there are 100 ECU in the market regardless of circulation, there must be 100 HBD in that special account to maintain the price.

How to Get ECU?

ECU tokens can be obtained in the following ways:

• You may buy it from HIVE blockchain-based DEX's i.e. LEODEX.IO, HIVE-ENGINE.COM, TRIBALDEX.COM
• You may request @ItharaGaian to deliver your ECU by paying an equivalent amount in HBD
• You may order the minting of new ECU tokens by discussing with @ItharaGaian and paying him an equivalent amount in HBD + 1.8% minting fee.
• You may delegate some HP to https://peakd.com/@hive-143869 (La Taverne) community, and in return, you'll receive weekly ECU tokens according to your share of HP.

Exchange of ECU Tokens

There may be times when you want to sell your tokens in the market, you can do so at your will by using a Hive-Engine.com swap service or by selling them in the open market.

But, the good part of having this token is that you can also sell ECU tokens back to @ItharaGaian at an equivalent price in HBD, this way even if the market has a low ECU price, you'll get your HBD returned by exchanging your ECU tokens with the prince as 1:1 value.

Utility of ECU Token

This token is created to focus on mutual growth by helping each other using a HIVE community platform, where every person supports the community in different ways and earns ECU tokens in return.

Once you earn some ECU tokens, you can sell them in the market or exchange them with @ItharaGaian to receive an equivalent amount of HBD.

According to the project's website, the team is exploring some new ways to add more value and utility options to ECU tokens.

Final Remarks

I think the idea of delegating tokens and earning ECU tokens in return is a no-risk investment since your delegation control always remains in your hands.

There is another catch for having this token, you can buy from the market cheaper and swap it with the prince for 1 HBD, although crypto trading has always risks associated with it, it is very important to do some research and then think about investing in something.
