Did you Read Hive's Roadmap by BlockTrades?

Almost a day ago @blocktrades made a post regarding their future plans for Hive! I know that for a couple of weeks most of us kept on wondering what's happening with Hive!

You see in a way it's logical after watching Leo and @khaleelkazi making all these updates and videos each week as well as all the cryptos to pump! That's overexcitement for you!

So it was Hive's turn to shine a bit and inform all of us of what's coming next! In a longass post with many replies and questions, the roadmap was unveiled

Roadmap for Hive-related work by BlockTrades in the next 6 months

Ι will mention briefly a couple of things because i don't wanna say the same stuff but with other words, (which probably gonna do). You can easily read the post above as well as the replies and simply ask any question there!

Vote Expiration

This is something that bugs many people, hopefully until now. According to the initial post, there will be a yearly vote expiration for witnesses, proxies, proposal.

So after the last time, you make an action lie that the time will be refreshed and count down again till one year is over. A little before it expires you will be informed in case you wanna make changes!

Change 5min vote window

Another thing that we all be bothered by was the 5min vote window. What's happening now is that if you vote earlier than 5 minutes after a post is up you earn fewer curation rewards.

That will change, we can vote whenever we want to but there will be a new time window (between 2-24 hours) that will help manual curators earn a little something.

Development of 2nd layer ecosystem

I won't say much about this, they know that the 2nd layer ecosystem rules and that it can attract many new users, as well as onboard new investors. Thus, they set their eyes on helping this ecosystem grow because at the of the day Hive will grow as well.

A new decentralized reputation/rating system

@blocktrades said he is very interested in this one and i really am the same, although it may not be that important compared with everything above.

Reputation is something i was really happy about, when i managed to increase it because it showed all my hard work and ofc after a certain period it also showed a little bit of prestige, a sense of accomplishment if you want to!

After the bid-bots came to our lives, this system completely ruined. You could basically pay in order to increase your rep level...Hopefully, when the time comes and they change it, all those feelings i had back then, will return...

A Few Last Words

As you can see many things are about to begin and i believe everything will add value to the whole ecosystem. If you check the initial post, you will find many questions as well as many proposals, because to be honest, this post came out of nowhere!

What's your take about the RoadMap?

Great to see things moving into the right direction and we need Hive to progress and come with new features and keep up the pace with the other blockchains and DeFi world as well. I'd love to see HiveFi models, SMTs and other features that soon will become regular things. We need to hurry up!

It's really a big bummer to gain fewer rewards from curation just because you voted after 5mins.
That would literally discourage some people from voting older contents that should have gotten some deserving votes!
Glad Leofinance doesn't vote with that perspective.

So then, the new projects are promising and will really kill the bugs, can't wait :)

I agree. The best time to get one's post visible is within 24 hours because that's when people review what happened within 24 hours on their feed at least. Once the post has been around for more than that it's difficult to drive it through trending unless a big stake holder upvotes it.

Cool composition! Have a look at the detailed article anyway, but ask a question here (since you'll probably answer it sooner :P).

I've read about so-called SMT's in older posts. But I don't see this term in newer posts. Is this topic solved by this hive engine token environment or is it still on the agenda? I ask because it seems to me that a direct integration would simplify things.

Best regards!

(since you'll probably answer it sooner :P)

hahaha wrong guess :P

Anyway as far as i can tell i think it's the token environment we got now on Hive. smt literally stands for Smart Media Tokens and we sure got quite some!

but they still need to develop it and help these tokens/tribes to grow!

sorry for the late reply!

I was very busy the last couple of days and I didn't have time to check a lot of things on HIVE... So, thanks for this short summary of the blocktrades post! Appreciate it!

It's nice to see a roadmap and a path in front of us... ;)

Honestly, as long as they don't change to the linear reward curve Leofinance is using I simply won't care about Hive curation. The vote early, get rewards system is simply outdated and I'm really annoyed by the fact that there's no intention to change it.

So true. It's safer to vote authors that have proven to produce consistent quality content early than miss out on rewards due to manual curation because you want to explore other authors on the platform. The linear reward curve Leo has is the reason why I think Leo has a fair curation system for all.

Exactly. On LeoFinance, I can just vote whatever I enjoyed whenever I enjoyed it.
No matter if it's a new article from taskmaster4450 or a 3 day old comment from thenewguy123, I get the same rewards and can in turn reward what I deem worthy instead of what is promising me the best returns.

Leo has a strong community and one of the highest activity in terms of users engaging. One of the reasons why a post can still be visible even after days since it came out unlike Hive that somehow makes your posts invisible after 24 hours on trending because of competition for visibility.

In a system where whoever votes first gets more rewards, I think manual curators would thrive if they voted on posts that receives more comments from unique users thus adding engagement to the value earned. I know there are a lot of authors that no longer bother talking to other members of the community because they already have the secured rewards consistently.

This defeats the point of being part in the community. This way, auto voters would rather change their patterns to support authors that actually want to be part of the community through engagement. Well that's just my opinion anyway. Leo curation is better, Hive curation needs a rework.

i think they will be "forced" to follow a linear reward curve system. As for now, what i understood was that they gonna stop this madness with the 5-minute window! that's progress if you ask me.

Also, they try to find ways as they say to provide manual curators with better rewards. I don't know what they are thinking exactly but at least we gonna get rid of this mess with the 5-minute voting window :P

No matter if it's a new article from taskmaster4450 or a 3 day old comment from thenewguy123

i totally agree with that though. To go a step further i have said multiple times since steemit ear that something must be done with our older posts. It's not like after 7 days our posts worth 0.

their value is timeless!

Read it within the first 30 minutes their post was up. I was more excited on the 2nd layer development planned out. We need that and more of that. Though the changes in the curation reward system is something to keep speculating on how it would serve manual curators vs autovoters. I don't think it solves the most of the reasons why auto voters thrive.

When one opts to autovote they would rationally be picking on authors that have had a track record producing quality content. That raises their chances of that author's content to be raised even further. It's unlikely that most of these authors supported will change their posting patterns.

Auto voters would just have to adjust when is the best time to do it with the new system but I doubt that it would change the usual folks that enjoy the consistent high rewards.
