The Hive playground

I was triggered to create this post by a blog I read from @themarkymark I read today. The titel was: "How did you get here and why are you still here?".

Registering on Hive

I've been playing around with crypto's on exchanges for quite some years. I had registered an account on Steem years ago, but never used it really since I didn't really had interesting stuff to blog about.
I was actually a bit fed up with crypto since I'm a terrible trader and my couple hundred dollars of 'playing money' only got less and less.

Then in august 2020 I accidentally found a great article on Publish0x. I browsed some more articles and saw there were more subjects being discussed there as well. I saw authors were earning money for their blogs and I remembered that I still had a Steem account and decided to check out what had become of Steem.
I saw an overload of blogs written in Chinese, so I decided to look for alternatives. And then I found Hive.
First I found the Hive.Blog interface and discovered numerous communities. Since I am an amateur photographer I thought Hive could be a good platform to share my photographs. And to it began.... only 7 moths ago.

My first blog with some bird photos got 123 votes and earned 2.76 Hive. Which was around $0.50 at the moment. I was really excited about earning money with my photos, so I decided to stay.

Why am I still here?

I'm still here because Hive is one big playground. I still frequently post my photos in the #pictureaday community and follow a lot of other great photographers.
But apart from photography I found a lot of other interesting things on Hive. The Leofinance community relighted my interest in crypto. This encouraged me to invest the leftovers of my crypto history in this project.

And I keep finding interesting things on Hive. I'm playing some Hive games like Cryptobrewmaster and dCity and also made my first steps in DeFi because I received some free CUB for my staked Leo tokens.

And I've also found some projects on other blockchains. I'm playing Alien Worlds and Sorare Fantasy Football and also created a Micro blogging account on Noise Cash (https://noise.cash/u/FriendlyMoose) where I have over 750 followers already and post a lot of photographs.

And there is still more to come. With #projectblank Hive soon will get a new microblogging app and so are many other interesting projects.

For me Hive is a big playground and instead of having to pay an entrance fee, I'm being paid to play here.

That's true. Hive paid you for your content and you enjoy it. Thank God you found a place to share your photos and also meet great photographers as you here.

@theterminal community is great! Especially for new users since things can be quite overwhelming in the beginning.
I've learned a lot and still often take a peak there.

I always redirect new users to the Discord channel of The Terminal. I think it would be good if all new Hive users started in TheTerminal.

Also arrived here through publish0x, seems like this is the gateway from the rest of the internet maybe? Also enjoy not being bombarded with endless streams of garbage ads like traditional social media. Matter of fact I'm hardly using those apps anymore and it's great :-)

Gonna check out the pictureaday community later, sounds interesting

Hey that's super interesting that you WERE on Steem, left it for ages and then found your way back to HIVE! Crazy. Glad you found your way to us eventually - it's so much better than Steem, that's for sure!
