Finally, I swapped my HUNT for ETH

avatar

Two days ago I asked on my blog and here on Leofinance what can someone do with a few Eth in his Ethereum Metamask account.

I didn't get a response and I interpreted this as another way of saying: nope, stick to a lower fee blockchain.

Which was pretty much my initial idea, that I should stay away from Ethereum.

Well... sort of stay away... Because I needed to go there and swap my HUNT tokens to ETH.

There was of course the option to leave them there longer. I had been doing that for quite some time. I rediscovered my HUNT tokens on Metamask for a few months already, but the apparent lack of good options kept me from doing anything. And they kept appreciating... About 7-8 times (in USD) since the first time I tracked their price.

It's not extremely exciting as I only had a couple of thousand of them, but still, they counted.

Anyway, after a long wait due to BlockFi security delay, I finally received my ETH in my Metamask account yesterday night, my time. No fees.

Then, this afternoon the fun begins.

When I checked the swap options available from HUNT to ETH via Metamask, I discovered there was a 14.88% slippage. No kidding? No.

At this point I pondered for a few minutes... Should I just wait hoping they will eventually rebalance their LP, or swap it taking the slippage loss.

I decided to do the swap. Who knows when or if they'll rebalance their LP.

The first fee would have been around 58$. That doesn't take into consideration the slippage, it's on top of it.

But as I was deciding whether or not to take the swap, the offer expired and I had to ask for the swap again.

At the next offer, the fee would have been 63$.

I was about to regret I didn't act earlier, when the fee would have been 58$.

But I tried again... Oops: 94$ fee.

I wasn't going to take that one. So again: 51$. Phew! It almost sounds acceptable when you have 94$ to compare with.

Should I take this one? Ok, one more time, maybe I'm lucky! 54$ fee. I should have taken the other one!

But wait! Slippage is now 14.4%, not 14.88%. That's it, I'm taking it!

And I took it. Swap went through. Wow, my first Ethereum mainnet transaction via Metamask! Can you believe that?

What was I decided to do with the ETH?

Half into BTC and back to BlockFi, half into BNB and into Cub Finance. One of my priorities is still to have more bitcoin. And on the other, I believe BNB will outperform ETH at least until the end of the bull run. Just an opinion though.

So I moved the ETH to Binance (around 4$ fee). Traded half (a little more actually) for LTC, moved it to BlockFi (0.001 LTC fee), traded it for BTC.

Traded the rest to BNB, moved it to BSC (0.20$+ fee), swapped some for CUB on Cub Finance, removed all my CUB from the den (I actually kept some there for situations like this), harvested all, then added to the CUB-BNB farm.

End result:

No more ETH.
No more HUNT.
No more CUB in the den.
More BTC.
More CUB-BNB.

Congrats, I think you made the right choice, having more cub; btc and bnb is the best we can do right now.

Thanks! There's little chance to go wrong in a bull market, unless you keep jumping from coin to coin. The rest are personal choices which may result in a higher ROI or not, but maybe they help in other ways.

I'll be saving this article as a small guide for when I need it.
Thank you so much for writing it, @gadrian.
Bravo!
