Starting the Year Right, First HivePUD 2023

Happy New Year!

2023 is here na, whew!

And what better way to set off the year with a bang than to do something towards growth as one of our commitments for 2023. Didn't we say we have goals to keep? Oh yes, we do! One of which it is to continue growing our stakes here on Hive.

For the purpose of tracking my own progress, here's how my Hive Power has grown in the previous year:

I'm yet to put my 2023 Hive goals into writing but one of them is to continue with what I have been doing previously - staking not less than one HIVE daily in support for the Hive Power Up Month (HPUM) and to not miss any of the year's HivePUD too. And since today is the very first HPUD for 2023, it's better to take action early.

Okay, so here comes the boost!

Oops! That's some coffee!

Well, it is to say that powering up is like having a cup of my favorite coffee in the morning. Giving me some kind of additional boost. And that is why I always initiate my power up during the first hours of the UTC clock because it jumpstarts my Hive day.

Here it is! It isn't much but it's a good start and a step forward. The first of many to come throughout the year.

Why Power Up HIVE?

If you are new here, you might be wondering and asking why do we have to stake (power up) HIVE? These are what I can say:

To have more Resource Credits.
This is the very basic especially when you are just starting. Without Hive Power, you don't have any resource credits which are necessary for your activities on-chain, re:

• Posting an article or comment
• Voting on content
• Governance voting
• Transfer of $HIVE or the stablecoin, HBD
• Delegation of HP

Unless someone delegates RC to your account, you cannot do much during a given period if you do not have enough Hive Power. You have to wait for it to replenish before you can do another transaction.

To increase our influence on-chain.
Hive Power is more like a gauge on the weight of our vote (both in curating contents and governance) and the value too. It has impact on our curation rewards.

Staking HIVE also means we intend to be here long term and we want to grow with others.

To grow our savings & investment.
Our HIVE stakes are like our savings and also our investments. The more Hive Power we have, the faster we increase our vote value and curation rewards. As our stakes grow, our earnings through it also grow. Hive Power increases at around 3% APR which is better than what traditional banks offer on savings account.

Building our stakes will enable us to earn passive income too in the long run.

Personally, the last 3 are just some of the main reasons why I continue to grow my Hive Power. It's a long-term endeavor and it entails discipline and commitment. It may not provide me with instant gratification but it is the only way I can build my wealth here on Hive. The whales of today started somewhere too and built their accounts to where they are at now.
