Leaving Or Staying In Nigeria? (A Shocking Perspective)

While Nigeria might be less expensive to survive in compared to some other countries, I believe this advantage cannot be mitigated by the danger of living in Nigeria every day. There's danger from law enforcement who mistakes every young person for a criminal, there's the danger of the real cyber criminals who are constantly texting and calling you to collect a huge sum of money only by sending a single code that's been texted to your phone, you have the danger of the physical criminals who are armed with guns parading any time of the day to maim, kill or rob you.

Should we now talk about the financial danger of cost-push Inflation in comparison to the stagnation of income to people who are earning from 9 to 5? In reality the general mindset that Nigeria is cheaper to live in, is an illusion. This is because when you look at the ability of Nigeria to provide income, platform and security, you'll understand that these socioeconomic conditions are supposed to create a balance. It's true that some countries are expensive to live in, but all-round, these countries makes up for this in good paying Jobs, working systems and the guarantee of security.

The Non-financial Dangers

Of course these factors would never create a sense of urgency to leave Nigeria neither will it create a sense of hesitation in me to stay back in me. What it does is to create a reasonable sense of balance in me. In all honestly, I see essence to this balance because of my financial background. I had it very difficult growing up. I couldn't afford to make too many mistakes because the luxury of multiple choices weren't available to me.

The choice of leaving Nigeria seems juicy, but I wouldn't overestimate my financial capacity by thinking I'm capable of competing against a solid or better currency than the naira. Inasmuch as I understand this, I believe that we're all stew meat if we keep living in Nigeria. This is largely dependent on law enforcement hunting crypto owners like mad rats, and it's just a matter of time before they start putting out bounties on crypto owners, nevertheless, you'll be surprised that this is even a bigger concern than the slow death that's heralding as a result of crypto.

However, leaving Nigeria is more of a "near-future" goal, I'll say in the space of 6 to 7 years, while many might feel this is far, I do believe that the time frame of planning eventually balances out the illusion of it being more distant than near. My health conditions are huge motivation to leave, but I must not allow this hastens a process of a move that should see me never coming back to Nigeria. This includes, money, more money and even more money.

If you think you don't need money to leave Nigeria then you're mistaken and let this post bring you back to reality. The fact that you might be earning well in naira in whatever business venture you're doing doesn't guarantee you a pass. While money is 80% requirements, you'll still need the logistics of making the right choice. For someone like me without a skill, it becomes a hassle, this is why my goals are saving, living minimally and spending on prospects that will ensure symbiotic dividends.

Living For Now, Saving For Later

One of the biggest expense of the regular Nigerian person man is food, housing, alcohol and women and for someone who is married to a full time housewife, you've incurred what I call the "expense of double trouble". I have avoided the aspects of alcohol, and women, but it's probably gotten to that time when a woman will eventually come into the mix.

You see, a sizeable percentage of Nigerian women are all about fruitless spending, like I told @nonsowrites. However, in my life, every cent I spend must fulfill at least two purpose, if not, I'll consider it futile and less productive. This might probably be because I live the crypto life, I'm all about the ROIs and scrapping more ROI for further APR. This is because the Ultimate goal is saving or building to leave, but before then we'd still spend to live before then.

Building An Affordable Family

Some Nigerian women are from humble beginning, but the wholefakeryof the internet has made them adopted some aggrandizing lifestyles which they cannot afford hence they make it the responsibility of a man to shoulder these needs. The tides are changing, an economically inept woman will only end up broke and at loss, dependent on others for survival all their lives. I know times are hard and this is why having solid goals are Important.

If you have a partner with this mentality, then cheers brother/sister, you're in luck. It's probably why I've been single too long. The goal was to get the all-round * "economical woman". I might have finally gotten one though, but I'm a bit of a skeptic when it comes to these things, but only time will tell. @nonsowrites asked me to tell a story, so I did it in a different-ish sort of way as it wasn't a full-blown love story

This is for sharing your story as they are both important supports for the everyday Nigerian man--finance and relationship.

Migrating costs a lot and I understand why many will rather not embark on such a journey. I was skeptical as well but then I had to weigh both the finance, security, and social cost of staying back and it is more than it would cost me for leaving. Rome wasn't built in a day, so I would advise anyone who wants to migrate to take baby steps.

Maaaan hahah I shared the relationship aspect because I believe that, when you have a right partner, it sort of makes things work better.
As per leaving Nigeria, I'm eager to, by all means but I'm not in a rush, less haste for me, more speed. Abroad no be beans. This country is certainly messed up. I'm scared everyday stepping out of my house. Area dey red this constant fear is not really good.

"expense of double trouble".

When I read this line, I just couldn't stop laughing. That's why some people say, if you are not capable, better stay back.
I don't think things were tougher for a married man those days when compared to these days. Omo man needs to take calculated risks before making any move these days - especially in the aspect of marrying a liability.

On the other, leaving the country is almost everyone's dream but then I think one needs to have a business(s) or investment(s) over here before leaving - at least to have something to fall back on if things don't work out on reaching there.

Hahaha in reality, I think this is the best time to actually get a good person as a man and this is because when you don get money, you'll be attractive people who are attracted to your money.
The way people are spending 8 million, 10 million on bride price and wedding these days is appalling. To leave this country eh, one needs to manage and save up.

Yeah, it is and you are right. But most naija ladies are after already made men....and don't care about a coming up man with visionary nor willing to work with/support him to achieve his dreams. Yet still, later some of those men will end up frustrating their lives cause they have nothing to offer.

Exactly. Find work, them no go find work it's really pathetic. Love is something alien to us these days. It's Just this money looool. I wonder why they mostly think their beauty will save them from poverty. The mentality in this country is shitty.

It's quite tough to balance life and it makes me realize how life in the US is so great. If we want to leave, there isn't that many restriction. I also think you have some skills such as blogging so there is no need to put yourself down so much.

Blogging? Well off hive, there are no real-time platforms to monetize blogging in Nigeria, except for external writing gigs on the internet. It's how bad it's currently gotten

interesting, rehive! I researched the social collapse and over-aging of westernized countries and found out that they all have stopped reproducing. Japan, Germany, Portugal, Taiwan are the obvious ones, but when you look at only the native population it even happens to Brazil, China, the US and as we see in the USA, migration does not substitute the loss of productivity. I wondered WHY men and women stopped being compatible (its like a virus around the world) - you can always say "the internet" and "modern careers", but this trend started in Japan long before Facebook and Insta. It is a catalyst, yes but there is something biological going on. I think it is a so-called behavioral sink. I always wondered if Nigeria is still "healthy" in that regard. Your population is so young and one could think that there is no "Single-Epidemic" and that you will all have a relationship and will make 3 or 4 children. But I have the feeling that even Nigerian the demographic will change within one generation

You're not the first person from Nigeria that has shared their intention of leaving the country so it seems to me that you guys have it pretty rough in there.

At least you have a set goal to try and make a better life for yourself somewhere else and a solid plan to go about it so I wish you good luck in that journey.

I have similar ideas myself because while Brazil isn't as rough at the moment, I'm afraid the situation is only getting worse so maybe the time will come when I also think about leaving.

It is very hard here and Nigeria problem is probably almost impossible to be solve, but leaving is not always the solution

Leaving is one of the solution as threat to one's life is something that's become predominant to crypto owners.

Brazil? Well I don't the economic conditions in Brazil but the truth is Nigeria isn't just harmful economically, its harmful in terms of security. People are into ritual killings, law enforcement agencies are hunting crypto holders, and people are being beaten and harassed for holding crypto.

Staying as a full time house wife is not something that should be accepted by any man or woman because it makes the man not to meet his future plans.

It’s a blessing when the man and woman thrive together in other to archive a better future.🙂

Many girls don't want to thrive, they just want to collect and collect and collect.

That is what we see now, if you find a good one keep her. Because serious girls are now rare.

They want to use the latest phones and wear the latest clothes.

Sometimes I feel like a fraudster when I travel because of the fact that I have crypto wallets on my phone.

If I see an opportunity to leave, I surely will oooo.

Amazing post as usual sir.🙇🙇🙇

Hello bro, thanks for dropping by. In reality this country is messed up. Truth is, legalizing crypto in Nigeria is bound to stop all these. The Nigeria law enforcement are the biggest problem to crypto holders in Nigeria.

Legalizing crypto will cause a major loss in the banking sector and for them to get back their losses, leave it to Nigerians to increase transaction fees
