What's All The Noise About!?

avatar

Unless you've been liviing under a very large rock, you certainly must have heard about noise.cash by now. There are daily articles by various authors on LeoFinance talking about their experience with the service. When I did my first Is It Worth Your Time article roughly two and a half weeks ago, I never expected this thing to go off as big as it did. By now, there are dozens of Lions and also other Hive communities active on the site. The deafening noise has changed into a lot of entertaining and informative chatter and both the site's activity as well as its rewards are growing daily. So... what's all the noise about!?

Personally, I never was a fan of Twitter and that's putting it mildly. To be more precise, I despise it. The cancel culture, them building a SJW safe space where certain opinions are simply not allowed. The so-called influencers, tweeting mindless rubbish. All that stuff is certainly not for me. And so I was highly skeptical about Crypto Twitter. But it turns out, the whole thing got a lot better than what I had expected.

First of all, as long as you don't look at Explore, the whole thing is actually pretty entertaining and informative. I'm following roughly 70-80 people on the site, with about 50% of the people coming from Hive and the rest being people I've either met on Torum or found through comments on other posts. This leads to an interesting mix of different topics with blockchain obviously being the focus. I have to admit this get's a bit addicting over time. Once you start to comment on other user's posts and throw in the occasional own post, the notification alarm doesn't stop turning red. I've caught myself a couple of time just mindlessly interacting with everything that came up.

So this is one of the main takeaways for me already - I have to try to focus on using noise.cash in meaningful ways, otherwise it will warp into a huge time waster for me pretty fast. And it can be used in meaningful ways a lot! I've found it to be a great way to build connections and, fun enough, meet a lot of new people active on Hive. Growing in our network is a painful process as a new user. It takes a lot of effort, time, and luck to build your network and find new readers for your content. On noise.cash, it's a lot easier to build these connections. All it takes is a random post or comment you come about and two or three comments later, you realize that you are interested in the other person's content, you subscribe to each other, but you also follow each other on Hive. This has led to a lot more interaction with my latest articles.

A lot of the votes are obviously coming from curation trails, but the comments are genuine and their amount is a lot higher than what I had prior to using noise.cash. So in a way, interacting with this platform can help to build your reputation on Hive faster than you'd ever be able to do by just sticking to it alone.

It doesn't stop there, though. Not only does my interaction on noise.cash help to promote my content back on LeoFinance it actually even serves as a means to monetize my content a little more. Every time I share my newest article, I get a lot of votes and tips on it.

Granted, it's nowhere near what I gain from the articles both on LeoFinance and Publish0x, but it's a nice bonus nevertheless and actually one that's probably scalable pretty well. Right now I have 169 subscribers and this number is growing rather fast. I often get tips from people I've never heard of before only to find them tip my next posts as well. So people really follow authors over there, looking for their content specially and reliably tipping content they enjoy.

My earnings from noise.cash have grown accordingly, netting me up to 3$ worth of BCH on good days by now. So far, I've made a bit more than 35$ worth of BCH in roughly 2.5 weeks. Considering the fact that I would have never touched Bitcoin Cash otherwise, this is a really cool way to build a stake in another major crypto currency without the need to invest any money myself. Since all tips are credited to my wallet instantly, everything I earn is mine to keep, even if the site should disappear for whatever reason.

This leads to another interesting question in that regard, though. What does the success of noise.cash mean for Project ______ - LeoFinance Twitter? Well first of all, it showcases that there's a market for this kind of thing. It proves that it easily attracts huge amounts of users and that even Twitter averse users like myself are likely to use it and understand the advantages it offers eventually. That alone is a great thing and makes me really hopeful for Leo Twitter.

There's more to it, though. Many of us copy&paste the content we publish on Hive to other platforms like Publish0x. Truthfully, there's no good reason not to do it - it doesn't take much effort and it's a great way to monetize your content more. I earn between 1$ and 4$ with each of my articles on Publish0x so that's basically free money on top of what I'm already earning. I don't think that this is going to work the same way for Leo Twitter and noise.cash, though.

In the case of articles, it's more or less a fire&forget kind of action. Post the article, maybe go over the comments once, and come back next time for your next article. On noise.cash, that's not going to work. It's a lot more focused on interaction, commenting on other peoples post, reacting to the comments you receive and so on. So basically, you can't just copy what you write on one platform and paste it to the other. This might work for a while because of your already existing network, but eventually votes and tips will die down without interaction. So as harsh as it may sound, eventually it will come down to either site becoming dominant and the other declining more and more.

Now there's no doubt in my mind that Leo Twitter is going to be the one that will prevail, but we have to be aware that we'll launch a new service facing a by then already somewhat established competitor. Because of that, it will come down to all of us already active on noise.cash to use our network, spread the word, and convert the relevant users from noise.cash over to Leo Twitter. With all the lions active over there, I feel like we are in a premier position do to just that. We are better connected and we provide better content than the average user - let's capitalize on it!

And that's all from me for today. I'll be gone hiking the next two days, so my next article is going to be published either Wednesday or Thursday, depending on how spent I'll be when I return home again. I won't respond to comments or curate during that time as well. Actually, I'll try to stay offline for the whole duration as much as possible. So have a great week everybody and see you again in a couple of days!

I have heard about it, but I basically thought it was just all about the hype with noise.cash. it's certainly decent to earn like 35$ in under 3 weeks to me that's pretty decent.

This time I saw your article on Torum ;-). I also see noise.cash as a nice way to build your network and to promote your posts in a soft way. Some may say that there is a lot of spamming on the platform but if you just don't follow these people, then it can become quite interesting and entertaining. I've never managed to get hooked on twitter but I like the simplicity of noise.cash. I hope that the new Leo project will be closer to noise.cash than to twitter :-)

I found the amount of spamming to be unbearable in the beginning to be honest. But if you build your subscriptions and stick to that it really becomes interesting.
I agree on the simplicity aspect, this is a huge pull factor in my opinion - the whole platform is super intuitive and requires zero explanation.

noise.cash is amazing and in a constant and good development. I'm like you, a very big fan of Twitter, but this seems to be a trend and here I think it will impact. I did not think to promote my leofinance.io posts in there, but it might be a good idea to do it as it seems you get some good votes from there.

Also your publish0x posts seem to have an amazing reach. I do on publish0x some few cents per post. :)

Keep up the good work!

Cheers!

It's really all about being put to Popular by the Publish0x algorithm. I don't know why he does it, put he puts all of my posts to popular so they'd get a lot of votes even without any followers :-)

and to add to that it's a nice way to attract new users to LEO! Also, i think it's fair to say that you are one of the most successful lions in Noise.cash!

Hmmm, this is interesting. So many testimonies from people who have earned from noise cash. Although I have an account there, but I am not consistent as I thought not really was happening there. It is great to earn such a huge amount there and also have great followers there and others stuffs.
