Back on track

Bitcoin is back on track, if you like Bitcoin in a downward trend.Yes, everyone who always shouts “Buy the dip” is getting one more chance to buy cheap Bitcoin. Or is it maybe, expensive Bitcoin? I seriously hope those people still have cash left to buy this dip, because I feel like Bitcoin just keeps moving from dip to dip lately. But that can be just me who feels that way.

Anyway, if you don't have the cash to buy this dip, or because you just don't even WANT to buy the dip, (I don't think this is the bottom yet), then you have to do something else. I cannot completely ignore the cryptocurrency. That's another story… but now to keep my eyes on the screen 24 hours a day and follow a Bitcoin falling or bouncing, hmmm no, that's not the way either.

Crypto and Gaming

So take another side street. After all, we also have the world of gaming. And what has been known for a long time within the Hive ecosystem, is that you can merge Gaming and Cryptocurrency very well.

Of course, many more people have come to that now. And I thought, it might be worth looking for a new fun game for me, but a game that also has a link with Cryptocurrency. Wasting my time with games without getting anything in return, I've done long enough. If there's one thing I've learned over the years, it's that time is precious… you'll lose it before you know it. And you can't make more time, but if you get something in return for your time ... it's not so bad if you also enjoy it.

While searching, I came across a name that stuck. And now I have to admit, I haven't played this game at all. First, because I first want to know what it is, and what it does. Second, because I didn't feel like I had time to play the game yet… lol! I had to write a blog first. And that's what I'm doing today about a neighbor!

A neighbor you will think now? Yes, serious! My neighbor Alice!

And that's the title of the game. My neighbor Alice. The in-game currency is therefore Alice! But what exactly is it?

My neighbor Alice!

My Neighbor Alice is a multiplayer game, in which you actually build your own society. You will build by purchasing virtual islands, acquiring certain possessions and making new friends. The game is based on blockchain technology, so of course you will also come across game elements that help you monetize your gaming experience. This is not a requirement, so if you want to play nice and accessible games in a happy environment, that's perfectly fine too.

The experienced gamer will occasionally see recognition, because the game certainly has similarities with games like Farmville and Animal Crossing. Accessible, colorful and enthusing. Do you enjoy a simple game of gaming, then this is a must for you, but are you looking for more? If you are reading here, you are definitely interested in cryptocurrency, and this game is interesting for that too. Because here we are again dealing with NFTs. And so the in-game currency, the ALICE.

The entry level is very low as you just start playing a merry game. This game also focuses on the adoption of Cryptocurrency among the masses. And to start the game you don't need a wallet. And no knowledge of crypto or blockchain skills required. This game can also be played without Cryptocurrency. But of course we don't go for that. And it is precisely by using the in-game currency, Alice, that your gaming experience is expanded, and various possibilities arise to upgrade your gaming experience. The so-called in-game features, and here Alice comes into play of course.

The game is based on blockchain technology, which allows you to invest and earn passive income. Please note: this is of course no guarantee, because you do have to know what you are doing, financewise. But if you like games, and you like crypto, then this is recommended. Interestingly, My Neighbor Alice introduces itself effortlessly to millions of users worldwide. And because this game knows how to introduce itself so grandly, Cryptocurrency is also being introduced further into the world.

You can play the game via its own website, but from 2021 also via Steam. The game goes through all the steps of their growth strategy and hopes to be available to everyone everywhere by 2022. You can already add it to your wish list via Steam, but you can't play it yet! Keep an eye on this.

Which in-game features can you monetize?

Players of the game have several ways to level up in the game by visiting the in-game NFT marketplace. Here they can buy, sell and exchange houses, islands, plants, animals etc.

The game already has some options on the site to expand your game experience,

Such as:
Investing in pieces of land; virtual islands.

This is an important part of the infrastructure building game. Land is obviously scarce and the available tracts of land are available in the form of NFT tokens. You can purchase virtual plots by investing or exchanging ALICE. Did you manage to get hold of a piece of land? Then you can also rent this out to other players, so that you build up a passive income;

Personalize your avatar by purchasing cosmetic items. After creating your account you choose an avatar that suits you, but as you invest in NFTs you can upgrade your avatar;
Your imagination is the only limit in the world of in-game resources. Buy resources to strengthen your position in the game. Think of harvesters, vegetables, animals and houses.

Do you own a piece of land and are you a good, reliable landowner? Then you will be rewarded for this and even be part of the community council. Together with your online friends it is quite possible to enjoy the gaming experience and add a competitive factor.

Governance Token

The foundation of My Neighbor Alice. Maybe you thought you had it pretty good, up to now, but after this subheading you suddenly find yourself staring at your screen with wrinkles. Don't worry, it's not that difficult. My Neighbor Alice is a tokenized governance system which means it is managed by YOU and the other players! So if you are an ALICE token holder, you help decide the future of the game. You have something to say about certain proposals, requests or about the advice of the system itself.

A token does not have its own blockchain, which is also the difference between a token and a coin. A token runs on blockchain from other providers. Alice is an ERC-20.

What do you use ALICE for then?

My Neighbor Alice states on the website:

  • ALICE is used to purchase game items;
  • You can earn rewards with it;
  • By participating in game elements such as competitions with ALICE, you will learn more about the game and the technology;
  • By becoming a token holder you have something to contribute and you can make decisions about the growth of the multiplayer game.

My Neighbor Alice is a DAO.

How does My Neighbor Alice work?

If you're a Farmville fan, you'll find this game interesting too. It is an environment where you can build your own country and enjoy a tokenized gaming experience with other users. Above I have already explained somewhat that the basis of this game consists of ALICE tokens and NFTs, so you get the idea, there is also a marketplace associated with this game where you can trade these NFTs. My Neighbor Alice uses the OpenSea marketplace for this.

The website of the platform itself explains exactly which facets of gamified finance they use:

  • Stake yield
  • NFT Collateral
  • NFT rental

Quite a few tokens are allocated in the form of wagering rewards. As a result, they encourage players to keep their tokens and to use them smartly later, when the game develops further.

NFT Collateral

If you buy a non-fungible token as a player, a percentage of the purchase price is placed in a special collateral account. This allows you to later destroy the NFT, by selling it back to the platform. This is done for the price that is proportional to the locked collateral or a percentage thereof. In English we also call this cNFTs, which stands for collateral non-funigble token, because it offers you as a buyer extra security.

NFT rental

You can rent out NFTs including land to other players, allowing you to earn passive income. The borrower cannot resell or destroy the object, thanks to the smart contracts. At the end of the rental period, you simply get your property back! By renting out the NFTs, an extra profit point has been built into the game. And of course we as crypto enthusiasts love these facets. Play and earn at the same time! Monetizing your time…

What do you pay for ALICE?

Now you may be wondering what Alice is worth, and that may surprise you. For a game that isn't even available everywhere yet, their token has already grown quite a bit in value. When I looked today I saw a price of 4.19 USD per Alice. And the 24 hour high was even USD 5.05 according to Coinmarketcap. I was quite surprised because I actually didn't expect more than 10 cents at most. But hey, who am I?

The token is listed on Binance and Huobi, to name two. If you are interested. At least for now, I can say that I've put the game on my wishlist on Steam, and will seriously consider buying some Alice as well.

At times when I just want to play a game ... this is a very interesting option I think.

That is surprising as you say. I didn't expect that for a game you can't play yet. It's like the doctor who one where people are spending thousands and can't play. Although that's a little more understandable since it's already a big brand.

I was really surprised by this price too, but since it's with NFT's and maybe they already sold a lot of land ... that's really the only thing I can think of to explain a bit of the price.

4.19 for a relatively "not so new" game? I think that thats good, i'm not much of a gamer myself but it looks like with the right investment and time, there's some cool token to be made.

I think it can get a lot better with the right investment, but it should even be doable without that investment, just investment of time. A lot of time ...

I specifically should get involved then even if time isn't really what I have at the moment, what do you think?

So it is animal crossing with crypto?

Not saying I'm going to jump into Steam when it is available or anything, but $4 is not bad at all. It's about the same as $BAKE before all the crash.

I don't trust this project because it is taking too long to release from the moment they started building hype with their DEFI token. #scam

I can't say that I agree to that ... I only heard of them since last week. And I think that if a team takes their time, it's usually because they want to build something good. If it's something what is launched in a day ... I don't trust it.

(Edited)

And I am not at all talking about production time but about the fact that their token should have been released a few months before launch, not a whole year. It's fair to assume that this company made more than enough with DeFi to fast track the project and have it be launched now. So where did their profits go?

I think you can look at Splinterlands or Upland for examples of an honest Blockchain game. Have a working product and build from there.

A coin that basically does nothing worth more than 4 bucks, while hive is worth 20 times less.... At lest the exchange rate for HBD to Hive is pretty good and I bought a few hundred Hive and that made me forget all the crap that's going on

This looks interesting. I DO like games but with everything going on in crypto, it feels like a colossal waste of both time and potential money if I spend a few hours playing. I mean, those are hours I could be curating and creating content and making money rather than wasting it.

As you say, this may be a potential solution. I can scratch my gaming itch and at the same time maybe make a few bucks. Thanks for the write-up.
