Ask Leo: You choose the projects you are willing to invest your money in based on what?

in LeoFinance5 months ago (edited)

Lately these type of posts are really popular.

If you ask me why I'd probably say that it's because Leo tribe might be all about economics / investments etc but the community members have repeatedly proved to everyone that they are the most engaging members of the whole ecosystem.

An article without readers engaging with the author is like a football game without fans...Do you enjoy watching football games now that fans aren't allowed to attend to stadiums? Personally I hate it...

And while you're not going to see charts or learn something new this time it's really important to preserve what we already have. Every little bit helps, and the more time more time one spend reading a post or typing a thoughtful comment the more it helps Leo climb Alexa rankings.

This the first "Ask Leo" post I make and if it goes well I'll start doing it once per week and probably share some small prizes too every time I make one. That's until #ProjectBlank which I think these type of posts would suit better there.

So you probably read the title and what I want to know is : What are your criteria when choose which tokens will fill your nags?

When I was new to the crypto world I made a series of mistakes...

  • Buying the tops was the most common one...Rekt
  • Buying random tokens just because an "influencer"shilled it on Twitter...Rekt...
  • Buying cheap coins just because I could buy millions of them with a few hundred dollars...Rekt again

But the more time you spend reading and researching you become better at it, eventually.

So right now things have changed. I offloaded all the garbage I used to hold...some of these projects even died a few months down the road and my only focus for quite some time now is to buy tokens that:

  • Have real life use cases. (HIVE)
  • Great potential because they offer something unique that no other project does. (XMR)
  • Have a dedicated group of devs that solve more problems than they create...
  • Projects that release updates often / communicate with the investors and also have integrity because they follow their road-map. (LEO)
  • Projects that bring something totally new that could push the entire crypto industry to a whole new level (RUNE)

But that's me...

Now I want to hear from you and possibly get a few more ideas about projects that I should be looking more closely or better yet invest my money too...

PS. I didn't include BTC and of course ETH on that list above for obvious reasons. I do hold some of them both but I got in kinda late...

Have a good one people

There are so many possibilities out there and no funds to invest in all. :)

My criteria is:

  • function an real life use
  • cost
  • team behind
  • clear roadmap
  • uniqueness
  • achievements to date

Uniqueness is what will eventually separate the wheat from the chaff

Most of the time, these coins I hold dear to my heart chose me at some point.
Hive- no new generation/pos/DPOS blockchain is as decentralized as it is, with unique features, strong global community and the need for it in these present times.

Leo - decentralizing finance information and financial tools, forward thinking, strong holders, small cap, valid project, continuous development, generally cool, plenty smart people.

Dot - Hybrid Ethereum, stronghold in China, a ton of applicability.

Rune - The smart guys where I chill talk about it a lot. Oh I chill at Leofinance....

One way or the other these coins found me and ive been loving riding with them

I may suggest you to add Avalanche (AVAX) to the list. Recently it pumped more than %300 and became one of top20 coins. What's unique AVAX is that it's the platform of platforms.

With the recent bridge between AVAX and ETH, you can sign your contract on AVAX and use the bridge of Ethereum. Moreover, Pangolin DEX is likely to be a game-changer. AVAX is nearly instant and scalable.

  • I may shill Stakenet (XSN) but it's not as strong as AVAX, just it's likely to be more valued in the near future :)

Thanks for the suggestion bud. I'll definitely check it out.

I don't care about pumps but rather than steady growth.

I'm staying in the Hive ecosystem, the nice part is the way Leodex is moving forward we can keep it all in wrapped versions of other projects without ever leaving Hive. Does that sound about right?

Leo fanatic eh? Good thing.

Ya that's about right ;)

Since I'm not a finances expert yet. I always tend to follow the pack in the sense that I see what smart people do. I also do my research on the person behind the project than the project itself, try to study their behaviour, approach, and how they handle in certain situations. Best regards champ.

Following the pack never worked for me...

Followed it when they said BTC would collapse...missed opportunity. Same with ETH...

Thank god I avoided the BITconnect catastrophe...

Few know about LEO...few know about Hive...just saying.

We should follow the opposite of what they do instead lol. I was like this to fall in BITconnect but didn't. LEO and HIVE are so so hidden gems that I feel rich already, that confidence I have in our "little" projects. Cheers bro.

I'm only investing in the projects I understand. If I don't understand what are you trying to solve, I'm not putting my money into it. (That's why my portfolio is mostly BTC, ETH, and every fork or project based on Steem).

Not that I ever understood what ETH really solves tbh but it's a giant

i usually buy/invest in cryptos that have real use cases or that i use!

I'm still very new to crypto so for now I don't really have a definitive set of criteria. I mostly try to read a lot of opinions of people here on Leo.

However, my mindset for more traditional investments is that I only invest in what I understand. This is not the only criteria, of course, but it's the most important one for me.

I'm making a temporary exception to crypto - which I don't fully understand yet - but I plan to apply this same mindset once I get a better grasp of the whole thing.

If you keep reading posts from people who have been in the space for some time, I am sure that you'll start digging on your own and find what is best for you.

Project on top of my list are those that compete with Big and established companies but offer better products and more beneficial to users.

  1. BRAVE - it competes with Google
  2. Presearch - same reason
  3. EOS - Play, Earn, Invest and Repeat is a great ecosystem.
  4. Theta - great business model like BRAVE
  5. Polkadot - connecting blockchain is a great project

I'm have been mostly into hive. Got very little ETH and almost no BTC. Yesterday I just took a small step and bought my first RUNE, UNI & DOT. I hope these will prove worthy over time. Meanwhile within hive I'm fully diversified by hive games, Dividends & Investment tokens, tribes etc. Certainly I'm keeping an eye on LEO & projects like SPI, LBI & BRO which hold tremendous amount of LEO. Other than that I'm looking forward to CTP community, doing great things. It can be next after LEO. @ctpsb a great community project. Other than that, always looking for new projects/tokens on hive and taking my part in them.

Solid choices. he more you diversify into legit projects the greater the chance for success and personal growth
