Chasing Orca. A Hive story.

avatar

I started off the journey from the 1st June 2020 and my full goal is to own 1 Bitcoin and 50K Hive.

https://peakd.com/hive-174578/@niallon11/new-plan-for-the-next-18-months-or-the-01-01-22-1-bitcoin-and-50k-hive

This is actually my favorite post to do every month as it is a sign of the progress that can be made through daily activity and building a following on hive. I started doing these three years ago when I tried to build my first 100SP and took about three months to get there.

I love sitting down at the end of every month and taking a look to see how the account has grown and review how it got there. Surprisingly it hasn't slowed down since I have started the challenge to hit Orca status. I felt that once my steem powerdowns were complete that it would be back to tiny growth and a slow grind. This has not been the case however and due to staying active and diversifying my revenue streams I have managed to add another 3000HP for the month.

Being active is the key for success but I do delegate about 50% of my HP at dlease for passive income. This amounts to about 7 Hive per day.

I make good use of the tags and try to create content on #leofinance, #sportstalk, #cpt and #spt to mix it up a little as well as trying (and failing to write #500wordsaday in my own community.) Leo has a big future in my opinion from the moves that they are making and that token I am powering up to earn more. The rest, i sell a bit and hold a bit depending on what their teams are doing.

I do use a couple of other platforms like PublishOx which I treat as an ethereum faucet. I have the #hive feed on their site set as a bookmark and click in every day to earn roughly 0.00011 ETH when I vote. The good thing is that by bookmarking the hive feed I am sharing revenue to other hive users with the hope that they bring some of that back into the system. Since we as an eco-system on't have any revenue streams at the moment it's sadly only the users and apps that are bringing value back into hive.

I do re-post some articles to their site as do a lot of other people but the rewards are very small and mostly my crypto content.

I have tried to get the conversation going about ads on hive and creating actual revenue for the token value but while there was a lot of support at ground level, there was not much from above.

But that is another post in itself. This one is for personal growth rather than community growth.

Account Growth

October 2020

No graphs this month after the hardfork. Which is terrible. On the plus side next month will hopefully be very strong and show that magical 50k barrier that I am reaching for. Then push onto Orca, about 53k
.
End result was 43k HP up from 40K at the start of the month.
.
.
.
.

It was a strong month and I managed to earn almost 700 hive from my blurt powerdown. Their price has climbed up a lot lately.

@splinterlands has long been a source of revenue for me in the system and as the price of DEC stands I am making about 5c per win or 0.3 hive. If i sell those tokens that gives me another 70 Hive per month not counting season rewards or tournaments. All of these various revenue streams add up over time and help to grow your account.

If you can create ten of them then it will add up even faster. That hive can be used to earn more and suddenly you are growing at a rapid pace and ready to take a profit in the future.

I would have a bigger growth but decided to spend around 800 hive on art in the @nftshowroom as there were a lot of bargains to be had. I am confident of flipping them at some stage with their business going from strength to strength. It might take a while but i have been doing it with splinterlands cards for a long time and make a steady profit.

I would usually break down my author and curation rewards but unfortunately the hivestats site is down at the moment and won't give me all those lovely numbers that i love to see. All i can do for this month is enjoy the account growth and get ready for next month.

Life is very busy at the moment between many things but it is great to be here and still enjoyable to keep growing my account.

Targets.

Bitcoin has stayed the same for the moment but as soon as I can get that Orca status i will really turn my focus to that part of the challenge and divert the money that i am using right now for my hive goal towards my bitcoin one.

I have set up recurring buys on my crypto.com account for both bitcoin and ethereum at $100 per month. I think that dollar cost averaging is the smartest way to proceed in this case and i have the crypto.com card which gives my 2% CRO back on all of my purchases. It's my second favorite thing in crypto after hive.

It also earns me about $20 per month which i stake to earn more. I try to keep adding layers on top of layers for my income in the hope that they grow exponentially over time.

The more income streams the better and the less work the better. That way i can get to the stage where i just do the parts that i enjoy and let the money do the rest.

That's it until next month and hopefully lots more to follow.

Sounds like good progress, and I guess now is a good time to push up to that 50K, I mean the price of Hive is tanking, HARD!

I said I wasn't buying any more for now but that price is so tempting. I was thinking about it all day and pumping in a nice bit while the price is down. I'm not afraid of the token as there are great things being built here but we still have no buy pressure which worries me. Nothing to increase the value and nothing in the immediate future before smts which might be the next hardfork?

The price will rise eventually but nothing to push it higher yet.

I bought 5K the other day - and all but about 100 which I powered up to HP went on LEO and DEC.

So I think the projects will do well, I can always trade out for Hive later of course, that's maybe the way to invest in Hive ATM.

That's not financial advice btw!

I'm not selling Leo. I want to keep powering that up as much as possible and write a few more posts for the site. Mix my content up a bit.

I have enough splinterlands cards for what I want. The only question that I have is whether I want to buy land or not?

If not I have a good stack of Dec to sell this month. Just waiting for the land sale to drive up price and see if I want to buy land or sell to hive. That's the great thing about this chain. Always something happening.

I'm half tempted to sell my DEC and sack of Land myself, but I have to give this next stage a go at least.

Hold onto your cards as well, they may well go up in value with the land release!

Thanks. It's something fun to focus on for the moment. Not much else to get excited about so might as well stay busy on hive.

You will do it until the end of this year! I'm 100% sure!
3K for October is a great result... ;)

That is some decent growth man, at this rate you will have around 100k hive by May or June next year! Amazing

Once I hit orca the plan is to try and stack bitcoin a bit harder but I'll still have my rewards to keep growing. It would be amazing to get there someday but I will slow once I get to the 53 mark.

Still great fun getting there.

I'll keep growing for now anyway. At the moment the focus is on turning all my revenue streams I to hive but I'll change that soon enough and try to spread it out a bit more.

For now though it's all hive.

It is impressive how much you are able to generate here on Hive. I think perhaps I could do better than I have if I dedicated more time to Hive and Leo Finance the way you do. I think I should, actually. Lately my routine involves going home and watching YouTube videos on finance and crypto. Rather than do that, I suppose I could work on blog posts.

I came to the realization of my lack of motivation, lately, when I realized that I haven't studied for any new certifications or licenses. I barely even read books anymore.

I think I got caught in a loop because I have been thinking about what to do in the coming year. My goals are debt reduction and owning 1 BTC. I am getting closer to 0.5 BTC.

I'm also a fan of Crypto.com and the debit card. However, I swapped most of my CRO for BTC. Having my BTC deposited in Earn is helpful in reaching my goal. As the price of BTC goes up, my contributions buy less and less. However, the 6% interest is indifferent to the price. At some point, my interest payments will be larger than what I can afford to buy.

Eventually, I plan to move my BTC to Celsius.network for collateral so that I can borrow against it in manageable chunks and buy more BTC to reach my goal. I have enough cashflow to repay the loans. Once I reach 1 BTC, I'll use the credit from Celsius to transfer debt to 1% loans.

Leo Finance sparked an idea for me that I could earn ETH and also accumulate it for loan collateral. However, I am more inclined to keep my LEO tokens for now.

Best of luck on reaching your goals.

Great stuff as that is really good growth. I am on your tail and have my blurt to sell to catch you up or try anyway. Any growth is good growth and getting small bits of Bitcoin is smart. At some point in the future this should pay off.

You are right up there. 💪

I'm going to have to make a strong run to the finish and not let you catch up. I'll see where I can do a bit more and try to keep ahead. 😂

It won't be long until we are both making that orca post. Keep it up.

Should have kept quiet not to alert you of my presence. This way at least you have a race to the finish line and will help get there quicker. You have a big lead and will take some out of the box thinking to pass you.

Should have kept quiet not to alert you of my presence.

Should have!!!

Now you've given me a good kick up the arse for this month to stay ahead. The gap isn't that big and you post far more consistently than i do so it will be a race to the finish i think.

Writing v hustling.

Cant wait to see how you get on.

I started off the journey from the 1st June 2020 and my full goal is to own 1 Bitcoin and 50K Hive.

As for myself, I just blog during my spare time. Without even thinking of having an end goal in mind. Makes me wonder I should set a goal like the amount HP /LP that I would be targetting so that I can track my success as well.

Thank you for the inspirational post!

I like numbers and stats. While I enjoy blogging and reading content, I also find it much more fun to challenge myself. I've been setting these targets since day 1 on hive and think that they really help if growth is a factor for you.

Pick a reasonable but challenging amount. Break it into smaller pieces and post about it on a regular basis. If you are competitive at all it will give you that push when you are feeling lazy. You will find new ways to hustle and people love to follow along if you are consistent. They want to see you grow and enjoy the experience.

my account 33 DAY old and I have earned 20HP or you can say 40 hive totally and I hope to reach 2000 HIVE in the first year and 2 to 3 BITCOIN IN 3 to 5 year and I'm working hard to reach that goal

That is very impressive. Two things I learned at the start of building were to post every day and to engage with other people posts. That is the best way to get noticed and to grow faster.
If you can find a fun community you will see more content with similar interests and content you want to engage with.
Then once you start growing it keeps getting faster. Power up everything and you will see it rise.

Your strategy seems to be working if you're adding 3K HP a month

It keeps me active. I try to blog daily but also lease out some hp, play splinterlands every day and hustle on a couple of other sites to buy tokens.

It all adds up and the challenge gives me motivation to keep growing. There are a few other people at it as well and it's fun to race each other.

That's an impressive progression. With the low Hive prices, it's quite tempting to buy more and get further. I try to diversify my income on several platforms and currencies.

I'm temped myself. As part of the challenge it was to only use existing funds and methods to increase my hive power but i might buy some while the prices are low and add them to the account later on.

What about staking LEO @niallon11? I think it is better for your purpose.

I do have some LEO staked to my account and hope to keep growing that stake. I have delegated to the leo voter recently as well to earn some extra on top of what i get for voting myself.

Have you any other way to earn it or just staking/voting on the site?
