Playing Around With The New LOTUS Miner

Last week seemed to be the week of the miners on Hive-Engine! I read a post from @lotusshares announcing that they had launched their own LOTUSM token (miner) which is something I had been hoping would arrive for a while. I'm friends with fellow drum & bass superfan @riverflows who runs the project and @plantsoplanks who is a regular contributor to content there and has held some mindfulness sessions on the Discord in the past.

The Natural Medicine community is all about natural health and rewards content in HIVE as well as its own token called LOTUS. According to their description, content is accepted:

from herbalism and essential oils, to food as medicine, meditation and spirituality, as well as the relationship of human beings to the natural world through wild-crafting, permaculture and other 'healthy' earth centred practices.

Another Way To Earn LOTUS

As my content is mostly around music, crypto and (not so recently) travel, I don't write too much about anything relevant to Natural Medicine topics other than the occasional mental health awareness post - this means I don't really have too many LOTUS tokens which is a travesty! However, I do know that health products and health related content is a big industry and it's great to have this represented and professionally maintained by @riverflows and the team on the Hive blockchain.

So I wanted to support the community where I could and this opportunity to earn LOTUS passively arose so I bought up some LOTUSM tokens on Hive-Engine, staked them and it's basically boosted my LOTUS token holdings by 25% in the first week which is phenomenal - wasn't expecting that at all! If Hive-Engine isn't working for you (it seems to have been playing up for me recently), there's an alternative exchange you can buy them on which is at Tribaldex - at time of writing, they were going for 18 HIVE per miner in this current first round.

For now, I'll be staking whatever I get from that and set my account up to follow the @lotusshares curation trail with my LOTUS stake to support the manually curated content to give a little boost! Not too much at the moment as I only have about 600 Lotus Power but I'm hoping now with the passive income from the miners that this will grow over time and be able to support the content creators from the Natural Medicine community.

"Unofficial Ranks"

As for coming up with Unofficial Ranks, well, I invite members of Natural Medicine to come up with 6 or 7 ranks depending on staked LOTUS tokens with the ranks getting bigger in size - would be cool to have ranks related to the community I reckon! I know the tokenomics aren't so talked about in Nat Med as the focus is rightly on health but if it helps give you a focus then perhaps we can create some fun and gamification element to staking LOTUS as well.

Not really sure how the nomenclature would work but something following the ranks in the Discord like Lotus Pollinator and then to Sapling etc. I don't know how many ranks there are but that could work!
