RE: The LEO Dilemma: Changing the Way I Curate Content

You are viewing a single comment's thread:

Our goal is not to be a platform for LeoFinance people to talk about LeoFinance

Thank you for pointing this out as I was beginning to see similar trends on the "popular" page where a lot of the articles were talking about LEO or had LEO in the title. Obviously people can do what they want with their stake at the end of the day but we all saw the HIVE trending page when it was non-stop hive posts appearing there for a good length of time, would love that not to happen here as well.

I do like the curator's picks as there's a good variety of topics there when I log in which helps broaden some thought processes and sharing knowledge about the wider crypto and finance industry. I wouldn't be too worried if that actually became the main front page of Leo with the variety of topics. I like that it's there at the top, maybe you can make the "show more" curator's picks a bit more obvious and by clicking on it, it expands the view downwards potentially?

A search would alleviate many of the problems.

Personally I rarely spend time on the trending page. I find the content that matters is on the hot and recent pages.

I see trending whenever I log in to LeoFinance each time and flick down just to see what's there and what people are voting on as the linear vote thing means I can still vote on it if I liked reading the article. Otherwise I just go to curator's picks and have a look.

I'm not sure about how good the search is on LeoFinance but I'd imagine it requires people use the correct and relevant tags when making a post in the first 5 as those are indexed? I've seen some posts that basically just have every community tag going to get tokens rather than the topics on what it's about.

That is true although search can be based upon other things than just tags.

We need a search engine that goes through posts and pulls up relevant content.

Yeah that would be good. I wonder if it's possible to have some cues when you open up post editor to put key words or use headings with the topic of the post, these can then be used by the search engine. With WordPress, I think it considers the headings/titles you use when you search on someone's website for something and it brings up "relevant" articles, similar thing with Google I think but that will probably need verifying by someone with superior search-engine and SEO knowledge to me!

I think we will have to wait and see what infrastructure can be created by the Leo developers.

Search on the blockchain seems tough. Thus we will have to see it at the application layer. How difficult it is to implement? We will have to see since I honestly have no idea.

I have full confidence something can and will be developed. Everything I've seen from the Leo Developers has pretty much resonated with me and you are right, I'd imagine it would be something on the 2nd layer in the LeoFinance site itself rather than on the blockchain level - like you though, I have absolutely no idea how it can be done, I'm just a bloke that writes a few posts/comments here and there and provide user feedback/discussion where I can!

That is me too.

Not into that coding stuff at all. Each time Microsoft updates something my computer is messed up for two weeks since settings are changed.

Haha! Oh yeah you're right about that Windows update! The one from two weeks ago has done nothing but made my PC so slow on start up and my I.T. guy put a solid state hard drive in - whatever that is! I may have to undo that, if only it was as easy as ctrl + z!

Search on the blockchain seems tough.

Hivesearcher.com seems to do a good job there. I use it frequently.
But I don't know how hard it was to build this. Maybe it can be integrated or something.
