Let analyse Dcity Market

(Edited)

Few days back , I joined the Dcity game and decided to give it a try. I am happy that I give it a try and I found there are so many areas in my city that need to be addressed.

So I thought of exploring the market and I got the feeling that cards in market are not cheap at all. With that, a question arose in my mind that what exactly are the values of my cards?

I purchased 15 first edition cards and 10 second editions cards.

So let me take my first edition cards and try to find there value if they are purchased from the market in lowest price instead from the game. So below is my calculation.

Calculation shows that my first edition total card value is 14153 SIM in market vs 12000 SIM from game purchase.

Market is 2153/12000 = 17.9% more overpriced for me in my case.

So let me calculate for second edition cards.

So calculation shows that my second edition total card value is 9755 SIM in market vs 8000 SIM from game purchase.

Market is 1755/8000 = 21.9% more overpriced for me in my case.

So I am wondering, If I got really lucky in my case or market is really overpriced in Dcity?

Comments are welcome (off course upvotes and reblogs too.)

Some luck in the cards you got (only 2 Basic Home out of 15, for example - when probability would dictate 4), but also you're not wrong about card pricing.

I have an EV (expected value) model that calculates the estimated value of each draw based on the market prices of all the cards and their probability of being drawn. It's been positive for as long as I've been playing (although there was early hype about second edition already at that time).

I think large player base will solve the "premium" price of market.

Is your "EV" tool is free for all?

Personal spreadsheet that is also filled with other calculations for the game. It's a pretty straightforward 'expected value' calculation, though

(valueA x probabilityA) + (valueB x probabilityB) ... (valueN x probabilityN)

Hmm! Pure mathematics.
