My Brief Adventure as a Day Trader || From Boss to Bear Market

Sure, I had heard of bitcoin before, but when I first really came in contact with cryptocurrency, what they are and what they can do, it was 2017 and I had no idea what kind of world I was about to enter. Looking back I always cringe at the fact that, as someone who was always curious about technology, I didn't jump on the bitcoin whispers even sooner. The cringe is probably than that of the fact that I didn't do anything with my Steemit account back then in 2017.

At the time of my discovery, I just starting working for a web development company where I mostly built and managed websites. My newfound colleagues had coincidentally just started putting together a GPU miner and that sparked my interest. After some research in blockchain technology and small dabbles here and there, I finally took the leap of purchasing my first amount of ETH.

With my newly acquired future millions, I started trading. At first I did small trades against ETH-altcoin pairs. That went pretty good with my base currency for trading being ETH. Having a base basically means that whatever the trades, the main goal is always to increase the amount of said base. Eventually I started trading on the ETH/BTC pair, because this seemed safe to me. Trading for profit between two promising means that even with a less accurate trade, you can't really lose on the long run. Just opportunity cost. At one point I even had small amounts of BTC reserved for day-trading BTC with altcoins. I think the amounts where around 100K satoshi or something.

With the relatively small initial investment, which was relatively medium in my country, I was day-trading with profits of at least $10 a day and one time even a hundred. To be honest, it wasn't even that heard. You have got to have really bad judgement and or luck to not make profits trading in a bull market. Especially when bitcoin is racing towards 20.000 dollars. Long story short, that adventure was ended abruptly by the start of the bear market and now I am here playing the long game. I learned a lot from that period in terms of financial practices and technical analysis. The profits of my day-trading also prevented potential big losses due to the bear market.

Have you ever day-traded and how was it?
