Ideas for combatting Plagiarism - NOPOB4U
The engagement and continued growth of the POB community continues to amaze me, however there has been some significant talk lately about plagiarism and how we can combat this. This conversation has been around for many years and continues to plague Proof of Brain blockchains rewarding users for posting content.
These are the ways I see we can try to combat plagiarism and protect the rewards for the POB community:
- Find content that is Plagiarising and Downvote - this presents a dilemma for some people as they don't want to start any flagging wars by not doing their research. The idea of flagging content doesn't appeal to some either as they don't receive any rewards for doing so through curation.
- Follow a Flag-Trail - this involves following an account that will downvote plagiarised content with your account, thus giving them access to your downvoting power as a collective.
- Create a NoPOB4U account - this account is managed by select members of the community and receives a large delegation from @proofofbrainio. Community members can then report plagiarism and then @nopob4u can downvote the plagiarised post. This way the stake of the creators account is used and there are no flagging wars or particular accounts targeted for flagging. A team would be needed to manage this account and ensure it is not used for upvoting, only for removing rewards from plagiarised posts.
These are just some suggestions for combatting plagiarism on the POB community. Let me know your thoughts.

Those who are old here would remember those days of flagging war between haejin and bernie accounts and their supporters. That dragged a lot of people in this war and hence there would be very few of them who would like to do that. Separate account is beneficial for that activity and those who are interested can join the trails
I like number 3, but a better way to do it might be to have the POB main account just follow the vote of the NOPOB4U account that you created. That way the delegation isn't necessary. It is just another level of security against abuse. Just a thought.

Personally, I like option #3. Someone can report their concerns and then the nopob4u account can downvote after the community decides. People can do their research before reporting to make the process easier for the community.
It seems to me to be rule # 3 but I agree with others that delegation would not be necessary.
A negative vote from that account, by the time the community knows it, will be a collective sentiment and the message will be strong!
I like the third option best. Perhaps the accused should be given an opportunity to respond to the plagiarism accusation and if it is unsatisfactory or they ignore it, then the nopob4u account could downvote.
Number 3 however it needs to be managed well and watched closely. Discord channel for reporting?
Creating an account to combat this like in number 3 is definitely the best! Also submitting posts to it for downvotes should be made as private as possible. Maybe a discord account, it can't be a channel or medium where other people can see previously submitted posts.
Honestly, I don’t understand plagiarism. I don’t. If someone likes something that they see than why no educated self and write original content on the same topic?
