Life of Street Vendors

Street vendors – are a very common scenario everywhere. It also happens to be a familiar self-owned profession. These street vendors mostly operate in the busy areas where the public frequents to such as commercial areas, shopping complexes, and stadiums. It’s basically you’ll find street vendors where there are more people around. These street vendors are not financially stable, nor do these types of works generate a whole lot of money.

Street vendors don’t focus on single items. You’ll find different types of items, although you won’t see them mixing a lot of categories. For example, you won’t see a cart that is providing accessories that will have clothing or small gadgets. As these people keep moving around and/or have make-shift shops, they don’t have many choices other than to focus on single categories.

There is no such estimate about the target customers of these vendors but most people with moderate and low income are the regular customers. Even though high-income rate people are not that eager to buy from these vendors but the fruits and vegetables are such items that they get customers of all income levels; you can also include street food vendors with them. You’d rarely see that a street vendor doing their business alone. You’ll see a few of them together and most of them are not providing items of the same category, they’ll be providing a variety of items.

Street vendors are very hard-working people. You’ll see that they often start their makeshift shop with their little saving and also borrowing from families, relatives, and friends. They don’t generate enough profit and so paying off the debt they collected is much harder than any of us can think of. And it’s not the type of employment that provides financial or any other security. These street vendors often work for 10 to 15 hours a day and after cutting off all the expenses, the profit they take home barely makes up for a single person.

It’s not how much money you make, but how much money you keep, how hard it works for you, and how many generations you keep it for. —Robert Kiyosaki

The life of a street vendor isn’t easy. They have to work really hard with almost no security. Even then you’ll see that the number of street vendors is rising every day. These types of employment have a huge impact on the economy. People can buy stuff at a cheaper rate and when the business is good, the profit margin gets a bit higher for the vendors. Some people are regular customers of these street vendors which in turn makes the business sustainable.
