DOGE Is Great For Cryptocurrency

DOGE has split the crypto-community completely.

Is DOGE as much of a joke as people make it out to be or is there a serious future like the supporters proclaim?

The reality is that it really does not matter. At least not from the standpoint of the cryptocurrency industry. If we step back, we have to understand that DOGE is great for cryptocurrency.

All Publicity Is Good Publicity

This is a controversial point among many. If this were a company, perhaps there might be a point. Of course, cryptocurrency is not a company nor does it operate under the same conditions.

We know there is a lot of #FUD out there. Much of it is manufactured by entities who have nefarious intentions. Their is a lot at stake so we can understand where they are coming from. While they might not be at the level of desperation at the moment, they already feel the heat.

Cryptocurrency is in need of stories. For whatever reason, DOGE is compelling to many. This helps to get more publicity, which is what the industry really needs. Perhaps many do not feel that DOGE is up to the quality that we want to exhibit yet it is getting eyeballs.

And right now, that is one of the most important things.

DOGE Is A Magnet For Younger Users

It is hard to know who is buying a lot of DOGE. However, it does seem to be attracting the younger users among us. Perhaps it is their lack of sophistication when it comes to investing that is attracting them to DOGE as opposed to others who are more seasoned.

The other day I wrote an article trying to uncover what is the future of DOGE. The reality is that younger users are going to determine where the future of that token goes.

However, it is of great benefit to have those people pulled into cryptocurrency. While some might lose a lot of money, it is likely to be part of the growing process that many of us go through. Few of us are here today without taking some hits to our investing accounts early on.

This will serve as a future core for the crypto community.

DOGE Is Proving The Network Effect

This is a lesson that is vital for the #cryptocurrency community to understand. Too many are stuck in the past of how things grew, failing to understand that things are completely different in the digital world.

We have seen mega-tech companies use this to become worth trillions of dollars. A platform like Facebook is the epitome of the Network Effect. In fact, there is little else to that platform. It is something that was missed by many on Wall Street.

When analysts looked at that company, using one of Buffett's criteria, we see there is no moat. After all, Facebook as a platform (the features) could be replaced rather easily. However, we see that the network effect is near impossible to duplicate.

Cryptocurrency lives in the digital world. We are seeing platforms built which are going to provide this for the entire cryptocurrency realm. The key simply comes down to numbers.

The reality is that it matters none how people get here or really what attracts them. We need the numbers to grow exponentially to kick off the network effect. Presently, we are too scattered and disjointed to truly enjoy this. Interoperability will help to unit this.

Over a month ago, we looked at what to make of DOGE. It seems like we are no closer today to the answer. The price of the token might "moon" or it could collapse. Either way, the mania that is DOGE is great for cryptocurrency.

In the end, it matters none if DOGE reaches the success of Amazon or ends up like Compuserv, it is helping to move the industry forward. Even if it is a blip on the radar years from now, it will have served its purpose.

A taskmaster post about DOGE. Awesome.

Dawkins defined the meme as a unit of cultural transmission, or a unit of imitation and replication, but later definitions would vary. Wikipedia

I remember looking at DOGE a while back thinking "This is a dumb meme coin, which takes what I like about Bitcoin and makes it dumb. Oh look they sponsored a Nascar, that's hilarious." But my goodness the more I think about it the more I've really started to think about the exact nature of memes and they are very powerful, exponentially so in the digital age.

Underestimating the value of memes and a coin that captured the idea was a rookie mistake on my part, but the game we play is entirely new.

Now DOGE is sponsoring another Nascar and it's both funny and well, culturally significant. A cultural transmission if you will. If you think about it, sports are a bit like memes too.

Precisely. DOGE moving to PoS would be a huge development. You hear about the DOGE community often, and engagement platforms exist within the crypto-space as it. We are on HIVE now. It isn't a stretch to think the same type of community couldn't happen with DOGE.

DOGE could certainly evolve into something. We will see what the community decides to do. Even if it doesnt, the coverage it is getting is enormous and that is a good thing. When something shows up on NASCAR that is a bonus.

It's a great thing and it was the first to prove that circulating supple means bugger all in the grand scheme of things. It's risen to all new highs and made new millionairs

New millionaires is a good thing since they tend not to be the rich to begin with so generating more wealth for average people is what we want.

DOGE is certainly helping there, as long as some took profits.

I rekon it's like gambling though as the market cap seems to be going down not up. The house is probably cleaning up rather than people becoming insta millionairs.

DOGE has definitely been the starting point for a lot of new crypto users. Despite what you may think of Elon, he is a great marketer and DOGE is seeing more users but I am not sure if there is more development.

The network effect, the publicity is all that cryptocurrency needs at this moment to help the industry move forward

I agree that if the younger generation are into Dodge, and are investing massively, it is to the best interest of cryptocurrency, whether or not, Dodge stands the test of time

I think you mean DOGE, not DODGE.

Dodge stands the test of time

Although that car brand has stood the test of time also.

Reading your post made me appreciate some of the effects that DOGE brings to crypto, even if it is still a shitcoin and I will not hold any as long as I live :)))

I am not a holder of it but then, there are a lot of coins that I dont hold.

As another one stated though, do not underestimate the power of memes.

I know some people who didn't get into crypto before because they thought they were too late in the game for BTC but DOGE came as a new opportunity and it served as a gateway for those people who are now full-on crypto mode

As much as DOGE drives me crazy, you make some good points. I am less resistant to the idea of it now than I once was, but I am still not sure I could bring myself to buy any of it.

Personally I am not buying any DOGE. I have no idea if it will moon or crash. Quite frankly, I dont really care since I have no skin in the game.

The benefit comes from more people talking about it. Hence, DOGE serves a purpose.

I doubt I will ever pull the trigger either. It just seems too much of a cliche' thing to do now!

BTC tends to be the most maximalist and stubborn crowd. I would rather have people be onbaorded to DOGE than BTC. Once they have a foot in the door with cryptocurrency, we can promote all the hundreds of different cryptocurrency projects to them.

The largest friction is about getting people started out on cryptocurrency. If DOGE is doing that, I will be happy for that even though there are no great fundamentals for the long future of DOGE.

DOGE can be a gateway coin for the masses.
