Introducing Crypthursday and annoucing Cocktail Friday

Introduction

This is the first post of an experiment that originated on Leo Market Talk. Let me tell you a brief story of how it came to be.

Leo Market Talk (LMT) is a daily post by @leomarkettalk where some of the LeoFinance community gathers to chat, share ideas and ask questions on a variety of subjects.

On Fridays, after I'm done with my work, I like to make myself a cocktail and enjoy it while engaging with people on Leo Market Talk and, a few weeks ago I started posting a pic and the recipe of said cocktail every Friday so others could join me if they wanted.

Last week, my buddy and fellow LMT regular @dagger212 came to me and suggested that I should make a post of it the day before so people can be prepared to join us on LMT with their cocktail on Friday and take part in the fun.

This post is the first iteration of that and I'm not married to the name or the format, so I welcome all kinds of feedback that you may have.

What is Crypthursdays?

Source

Well, again, not married to the name yet, but my goal here is to share a little bit of my vision of the facts and things that took place in the crypto verse - and mainly on the Hive ecosystem - during the last 7 days.

I might discuss prices every now and then but I won't be doing technical analysis mainly because I'm not really experienced in those and there are many fellow Lions who already do a great job on that front.

I should add that I'm very new to crypto so this is also going to work as a learning journey for me. If you are also a newcomer maybe we can learn some things together and if you are a seasoned veteran maybe you can come here and laugh at the dumb shit I say! Just kidding, please don't do that! But, again, feel free to provide any feedback and point out any mistakes you find. I'm very open to that.

But well, let's get to it then! I don't want this post to be too long and since I did this introduction this week, I might cut this one a little short.

A quiet week

It looks like things slowed down quite a bit lately on Leo. I believe the current state of the crypto markets probably scared some people away. There is also a big holiday in the USA but I don't know how much that contributed.

Source

Even though I wouldn't go as far as calling it a bear market, this was the first time since I got into crypto that I actually experienced things crashing a little harder. Can't say I really enjoyed it, but I believe it was important for me to experience that too because I'm sure this journey will have its ups and downs. Moreover, I got into this game for the long run so I didn't let the "bad news" get to me. If anything, it's been a great entry opportunity for many projects.

Getting in the DeFi game

Speaking of new experiences, I've been researching more and more on DeFi lately. It's a very hot thing right now and apparently, there is a new project popping up every day. New projects are always exciting because they usually have crazy APR for early adopters, which is a good incentive to be on the lookout for those.

There is, however, one problem: while many projects are solid and legit, there is also a growing number of scam and rug-pulls of all sorts and it's not always easy to tell them apart. That's why my favorite DeFi project is...

CubFinance

If you are a regular on LeoFinance you probably know all about CubFinance already but if you don't, I suggest you take a look if you are looking to get in DeFi.

CubFinance is a project by the same team behind LeoFinance, which eliminates the trust issue that I mentioned above. It's been under constant development and more features are being added over time, such as the Kingdoms, which just came out.

The CUB token is priced at about 0.70 USD right now, which I think it's a steal! I believe the project has great potential going forward so I'm taking every chance I get to increase my stake.

Proof of Brain getting a new frontend

Drifting away from LeoFinance for a bit, but still on the Hive ecosystem, we have Proof of Brain, one of the hottest communities of the moment.

Source

Despite being a very new community, PoB is already a success and the people behind it are working hard to keep things going. They recently announced that PoB is getting a new frontend, among other things.

I think this is a good step forward because user experience is vital for a community to thrive and a good frontend has an important role on that. I hope we see it soon!

Pick of the week

I read a lot of great articles on LeoFinance this week, but this one really stands out, in my opinion.

@bagofincome shares their vision on investing, compounding, and retiring and how they approach those things in the crypto-verse, and they also listed some of their favorite crypto projects of the moment. A must-read!

And finally, for Cocktail Friday we'll be having...

An Old Fashioned!

Source

I thought we should start with a simple one and this is as simple as they come!

Ingredients

  • 1 sugar cube (or half a tespoon sugar)
  • 3 dashes bitters (I'll be using Angostura, but feel free to diversify here)
  • 2 ounces bourbon

Instructions

Put the sugar in a glass (preferably a short one, such as the old-fashioned glass) and then add the bitter to it. Stir it nicely to mix things up.

Now, add the bourbon, fill the glass with ice and stir it to give it a nice chill.

If you want, you can garnish with an orange peel and a couple of Maraschino cherries.

Now you're all set! Get the ingredients ready and meet us in tomorrow's @leomarkettalk post so we can enjoy this bad boy together and interact.

And that's a wrap

For the next post, I'll focus more on crypto itself since I won't have the introduction bit again but I hope you enjoyed the first post of this little experiment. As I mentioned above, any kind of feedback is welcome and appreciated!

Also, feel free to suggest next week's cocktail!

Let's just enjoy the up and down rides lol. I think we will probably see way more of this given the previous price action in crypto. I like that you are telling people ahead of time what to prepare.

Nice! You did it. I didn't realize you were planning on making a cocktail necessary after reading your lengthy post. lol I like the format though. I think if you do this consistently it will be something more and more people look forward to at the end of the week. I can see already though that I'm going to have to upgrade my liquor cabinet.... :-) Nice work!

Lol! Yea, I'll try to keep it a little shorter from now on!

Glad you like it, though and thanks for the idea! I hope it helps with engagement overall and gets a few people drunk too :P

I'll be happy to join you tomorrow for a cocktail (that is, if I'm feeling better - damn Covid shot).

But if you don't mind, I'll skip the sugar, bitters and ice....Just my personal preference. Cheers!!!

I still feel lousy but I may join you anyway. What's the worse that can happen? A drink may either cure me, or, kill me.
