US Election results to be posted on ETHEREUM and EOS blockchains for tracking

Blockchain technology can be used in all sectors of the society and it tends to even have more advantages and benefits over the in-use centralized systems. Howbeit, many are yet to come to the knowledge of the importance of blockchain technology and how it can be leveraged upon for effectiveness and efficiency. Hence, the reasons for the low adoption of blockchain technology. But the fact is that whether today or tommorrow, this new technology will definitely take over.

However, the adoption of blockchain technology is seeing a gradual increase particular with regards to election voting. Over the years, there has been many writings on the need to engage blockchain in voting and I equally wrote an article on that which I posted on Reachiiing blog.

It appears these expectations for blockchain are coming true as the official United States Presidential election results will be posted on two different blockchains, Ethereum and EOSIO by the Associated Press (AP). This is the first time this path would be taken and it is being done so as to prove that the results at any given time are official and trusted.

It's interesting to see election race calling to the blockchain. With the blockchain voting systems, we are sure of more transparency and no data manipulation. Worthy of note is that, the Associated Press will use Everipedia's OraQle software to publish the United States presidential election race calls.

According to the Associated Press (AP), the Ethereum Public Key for the United States Presidential race calls is:

0x436ee8cb3a351893b77f8b57c9772daec3a96445

Similarly, the Ethereum Oracle Smart Contract for the United States Presidential race calls can be found at:

0x0792724900B551d200D954a5Ed709d9514d73A9F

Also, the Kovan Testnet Oracle Smart Contract for test U.S. Presidential race calls can be found at:

0x12B7B8Dea45AF31b6303E00C735332A8b6752856

While the EOS Account for the U.S. Presidential, Senate, House and Governor's race calls is:

associapress

With this, one can track the US election results on Ethereum and EOS blockchains being that the Associated Press would be posting them there. Aside from just posting the results, people can as well verify the accuracy of the results using AP's application programming interface (API) blockchain data. This new development of employing the unalterable blockchain to time-stamp election results could pave the way for how future elections would be handled.

How to track the results on EOS and ETH Blockchains

According to Forbes, the Associated Press voting data will be posted to Everipedia, a blockchain-based competitor to Wikipedia that uses software called an “oracle” to ensure the data that comes from outside the blockchain is accurate. The moment the data is being proved authentic, it will then be posted to the public ethereum and EOS blockchains, which can be used to track any other data other than their native tokens.

The Associated Press has been calling the United States elections since 1848 as well as declaring winners. However, their decision to track the results using blockchain technology is one of the largest scale use of the technology to date. More so, the adoption of blockchain voting system will help in reducing fraudulent election acts.

Result might be on those blockchains but the ballots are not. This is the problem. We are going to see made up numbers on both sides.

As they say, the one who counts the votes determines the outcome of an election, not the ones voting.

I get your views.
We just hope blockchain voting could be adopted. It would help reduce election malpractice
