Hive Marketing is Keychain

avatar

Marketing for Hive can IMO work only 1 way.

Marketing Keychain.

For example. How to tell a random "how to use hive?". The best way is to exclude all dapps and say:

Download keychain, create a wallet = done.

And now you can use all dapps here from social media to xyz.

If we start with blogging, everything looks complex and weird. Same for every other dapps.

Back to the keychain,

In 30 seconds a new user know what to do.

From there the next step is a overview site for dapps.

User like defi, he can use defi with keychain.

User like games? the same.

User like social media? Use Blogging dapps.

With videos the same. @theycallmedan 3speak have now keychain log in? :)

Mobile

Keychain can be also THE MOBILE APP for hive.

For payments and login solutions. Users never need to know the keys. Auto import and bam.

For a backup, there could be " download keys" + "download keychain backup".

It can be also via mail + encryption. I know it's not the best solution because" it's super safe", but it would be super duper easy.

Hive log in

Hive can become a really cool alternative for log-ins on the internet. For games and websites that even don't on hive. Like other social media log-ins.

IMO it's a really cool thing because you have never do deal with any passwords for websites. Use the profile and bam. And it's also way more anonymous than with a Facebook log-in ( only if wanted and right used).

Light wallets

Yup. With light wallets, everything becomes easier. Faster wallet creation. Would be the best choice for all Token transfer things. Like defi or online payments. It's fast and "semi-free" if Rcs are delegated.

Think about a whale buys 2M hive and delegate all Rcs for his payment app. Light wallets pay a low transaction fee for example 0,1% ( or lower/higher) to the payment dapp and in return, they can use it cheaper and faster than Paypal and co.

Would this not be awesome?

Light wallets + RC delegations = opportunity. And I'm sure there are 100 times smarter ideas for it. And now we think really dirty.

Think about HBD would be stable at 1$? OMG a real stable coin that can be used with low fees on the internet with 3 seconds transfers. So yes hive can be a payment thing + it could scale better with light wallets than most of the other chains.

One last point, think about it would be done by a smart whale that allows this as payment channel fiat to hive and the other way. This could be a big thing for online payments. Because why you should not use it?

Other Dapps

Same for other dapps. Keychain will be the door opener and should be the main focus for general marketing.

Second dapps because they can market themselves.

Sure there is development needed to get the dream true, but it's really possible.

And if we think about smart contracts, it could be THE DOOR opener for everything. We all know ETH and BSC sucks a bit because of transfer cost and decentralization.

Conclusion

IMO this would be the way to show everyone hive is more as blogging and rewarding. It would be also the easiest way to show new users how to start.

For scaling, things must be easy. There is no easier way to tell a new user how to use hive.

If you tell a new user about blogging, sounds cool but with all tribes and community rules it becomes complex and a bit bullshit.

For example:
You can post and earn rewards, but don't copy and paste and try high-quality blahblahblah. Not easy and random. Dapps should be always second.

Future will be social media + fintech + universal log-in solutions. And Hive + Keychain can do it.

Keychain is the solution because it's the neutral door to hive.

Keychain team, what do you think about it? Do you agree?

@stoodkev
@nateaguila
@yabapmatt
@aggroed

Something random at the end. Other Blockchains that try to be this with shitty tech that doesn't work are with 100x+ market cap. So change the way we market hive and look what happens :)

Hey @urun, these are some cool suggestions. Keychain is very easy to use both on Desktop and Mobile. It also allows users to login to multiple Hive DApps with just one click.

Could you please elaborate a little more on Light Wallets? What do you mean by that exactly?

simple numbers.

They are free to create ( no creation fee).

Besides this, it would be not able to post with it. Only transfer funds or sign contracts. Pretty much like ETH.

Example: 23809745208835420834 would be the wallet name.

And there are only one key for transactions.

That's amazing! This could really help us push the number of signups. To unlock more feature they will have to create a Hive account with 4 keys.

yup and for most basic stuff for apps a light wallet would be enough.

It sounds interesting but I think we would have to wait for the devs to respond. But yes I do think if we can use HIVE as the transaction medium then we could cut the gas fees by using RCs and HIVE instead.

Agreed.

Once a browser-based DApp hub is fully fleshed out and integrated within the Keychain app (which is what we're working on), this will become even more obvious.

Great post!

Thank you!

And perfect that this is the plan for keychain! Awesome!

I’m an old-school Hivesigner user. If Keychain can be used on an iPad or older iPhone, I’ve never seen how to use it in those environments.

I agree 100%!

Unless there is some technical limitation I am not aware of, Hive Keychain could become the "Hive Login" @taskmaster4450 referred to here.

However, it needs to (imho) incorporate the temporary key-custodian features of LeoFinance's twitter-login process.

In other words, as a new user, I login with my twitter login, select my Hive username, receive a prompt to install the Hive Keychain extension, then use Keychain wherever I go from then on (with a periodic message from Keychain telling me the importance of taking control of and personally managing my private keys).

Is the above technically feasible?

log in with twitter would be a different case, but it would be also in general the same.

My solution would be login into 30 seconds video + keychain download with auto-import keys. Also download with keychain the auto-import file, that stores all keys ( + easy to use readme file).

Could be all explained in a short video.

Like keychain does this and this. You want to use our app, download the addon and save your keys. With the keychain download, you also download a file for recovery or to use it on other devices.

Or something like this.

Yes, I think both onboarding options would be best. A simply "here are your keys" option for those who know and understand what that means and a "login with a password" option for those who don't.

I used the LeoFinance twitter login example because that is about as easy as it gets (imho) and is desperately needed. The only problem with LeoFinance's solution is that folks that use their twitter login option cannot use that to log in anywhere else. Your proposed solution would fix that problem.

ah, i understand :)

Never tried it out :)

I think that's something leo could add "export to keychain" or something like this. Not sure how it works :)

Hadn't thought about that.

Yes, if LeoFinance simply implemented a direct export of the keys to Hive Keychain then their onboarding process becomes 1-step to only use Leo (login via twitter API and select Hive username) and 2 more steps to use all of Hive (additional steps = [1] install Hive Keychain browser extension and [2] select the "Export to Keychain" option).

Not sure if I would call it marketing, but ..

The concept of making it an early action ... Get account information and suggest keychain is a great idea.

I was just literally mentioning to my husband how ADAs wallet is a pain in the ass and they should make a "Keychain" type wallet for ADA.

Marketing for Keychain is marketing Hive. Like a payment app ( Paypal and so on)

That's the most neutral way for hive marketing, and it could be paid with recommended dapp inside ( for example splinterlands, peaked and so on).

Hive alone with keys is the very unlikely average user will use many different dapps. With keychain it is unlikely only use one :)

Also marketing could paid by DAO because its 100% neutral and the "recommended" area could be paid to DAO fund for example :)
