Islamic Sufism and Jewish Kabbalah

avatar

The Muslims and Jews of the world have important aspects in common with their traditions - despite the persistence of conflict in the Middle East. The Jews and Arabs trace their descent to the monotheistic prophet Abraham (Abraham in Arabic). The Jews their descent from Isaac, and the Arabs from Ishmael, the descendants of Ishmael extends, through service with Islam, to many other ethnicities besides the Arabs, throughout the world. However, the Koran, the holy text of Islam, is repeatedly Moses, and Muslims, like the Jews, believe that Moses himself, among the prophets, spoke directly to God. In addition, Jews and Muslims mark their male offspring, the first born and the last at or ending puberty. __________________________________________

__________________________________________ And finally, the two religions share some other dietary and food restrictions, such as a ban on pork consumption, Muslims and Jews further have mystical habits - Islamic Sufism and Jewish Kabbalah - which are so close to each other that the presumption of mutual influence is inevitable. However, the transmission of spiritual doctrine and practice between them is still historically mysterious. At certain points, there is evidence of a direct influence of Sufism on Jewish spirituality. Elsewhere, the path between stops is challenging to distinguish. __________________________________________

__________________________________________ Sufism and Kabbalah fall into two general schools: "theosophical", which describes by explaining the mystical content of the universe and man's relationship to God's creation, and "joyful".
