I do hope you have a good time as you go through it. I am convinced that you will amend your meal plan as well.

First, let me start by saying plantains are less sweet, starchier equivalent to bananas. Otherwise, referred to as cooking or green bananas, they may be eaten ripe or unripe.

It will surprise you to know that unripe plantains aren’t appealing to many. However, nutritionists believe that unripe plantains are better for our health than the ripe ones as we all get older in our age.

They’re easily digestible, rich and nutritious and they also contain complex carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals.

Unripe plantains have numerous health benefits. They’re used to manage diabetes.

They’re rich in iron and potassium, vitamin A and B, magnesium, and phosphorus.

They have a hypoglycaemic effect or help us control blood sugar levels. That is, the fibre in plantains can help your blood sugar levels stay steady longer.

Also, unripe plantains aid the digestion and prevent constipation-by promoting bowel regularity due to the fibre in them.

They contain a good amount of vitamin C, which acts as an antioxidant that helps to boost our immune system.

Antioxidants protect your body from radical damage that is associated with aging, heart diseases and even some types of cancer.

Besides, unripe plantains are rich in calcium, which is the essential nutrients needed for stronger bones, muscles, nails and teeth.

They can also help prevent Ulcers. Studies have shown that unripe plantains can both prevent the formation of ulcers and can help to heal them.

They also ease menstrual discomfort and help boost fertility, especially for the females.

Unripe plantains can be eaten boiled, roasted or fried in slices, turned into flour or cooked as porridge.

They can be garnished with veggies sauce, honey, ginger, garlic, dry fish, periwinkle and other food recipes.

Henceforth, ensure you add unripe plantain to your meal menu, and start enjoying their medicinal and therapeutic properties.

Just like I said earlier, I hope you had a great time running through it (this post).

I guess you should have a rethinking on your menu as well.

Please do have a lovely day;
