How to launch your content creation start-up

avatar

When I started my journey on the old blockchain it was such a slow progress at the beginning. After a first post where I presented myself, I got only a couple of cents upvote on the following ones. It was discouraging and it's only thanks to some great people that I managed to continue.

I believe that it is not much different today when people join the blockchain. First new users need to understand how things work and there is so much to understand that it can be overwhelming. If they manage to write a post or two they will be quickly disillusioned because of the few upvotes and interactions that they generate.

When you start on Hive you are launching your own content creation start-up

When I look at it from a business perspective, when you start on Hive, you are launching your content creation start-up. You have no customers, no resources, no market and you have no experience but you have some ideas for products/content that you want to create.

How would you proceed if you had a start-up?

If you invented a little tool and would build a start-up around it. How would you start to promote your product? You would probably begin by presenting your product to your friends and the people around you. This would give you some feed-back and maybe your first sales.

In a way it is not different for content creation here on Hive. But when you start on Hive you probably don't have any friends yet. That's why you need to find friends and build relationships before you can sell your stuff. If you just throw your products on the market, they will be invisible among all the other content that is produced.

You need to develop your market first. You need to develop your brand, make yourself known and build a level of trust by showing up regularly.

Where to start?

The world of Hive is actually huge and it's virtually impossible to discover everything that is produced on it. The key is to target not the whole but a section of this blockchain. You can do this over communities or tribes. Try to find the community or tribe that fits your interests best and start building relationships within these groups.

It's much easier to build relationships within a community of a limited number of people. In this community, you will find the same authors over and over and you can engage with them regularly. Comment their posts and give upvotes. If this community works around a tribe, buy the token and stake it so that your upvotes carry some value.

If you are consistent and you engage regularly with the same people, they will start to recognize you and a certain level of trust will be created. On this basis they will start to look at what you have to offer.

Study the community

Besides knowing what the community is about and what the main topics are, a good idea is to find out who are the leaders of this community.

How to find out who the leaders of a community are?

The first thing is to look at the team and the administrators. These people matter because they will define what will be seen in this community.

There are also in each community a certain number of people who attract a lot of engagement to their posts and often also generate posts of higher value. You can simply go through the feed of the community and look at the number of comments under the posts. After a while, you will know who you should follow and interact with.

To find the leaders of tribes, a good idea is to go to dex.leofinance.io and check the richlist of the token that you want to analyse. You can sort this list according to the stake that the people own.

On Leo Dex, you can find for each token a richlist with the token holders

Engage with the people that valorise your comments

In every tribe you will find people who have understood that this blockchain is about engagement and about keeping their customers/readers happy. These people will make it their duty to answer your comments and even upvote them. Maybe they have a big account and can do it with hive or they do it with the token of the tribe. These are the people that you should interact with first. Why? Not only will you to earn a bit while engaging, you will also learn a lot of things from them because they are developing their own business in a great way.

Your start-up won't succeed over night

To be able to be successful with your content creation business, you need to be aware that you are in this for the long run. You need to show up regularly, if possible every day.

Don't forget that this blockchain is about engagement. If you understand this, you are on the right path...

This post is part of a series in which I want to rise the awareness that content creation is a business. The previous posts:

A lot of things are happening on Hive blockchain. A new user can easily get lost. Starting from a community/tribe is a good idea. You can get to know like-minded people and learn a lot from them. Then you can make your next move. Thanks a lot @achim03 for writing about the content creation business step by step consistently.

When I started on the blockchain community and tribes didn't exist yet. I believe these can be a great help for new users.

Thanks a lot for your comment!

Thanks for another information post, Achim. You treat (and teach) content creation as a business. This is a new paradigm for many, but one that must be embraced in order to succeed on the blockchain. Keep up the great work.

When you can earn money with what you are doing, in a way it's a business already. I believe that by treating this activity as a business we will look at it from a different perspective that can help us to improve our game.

As always, great post... I will not write a long comment this time, but I have to say something... :)

When you start on Hive you are launching your own content creation start-up

This is important to understand! As every start-up that you create, you will not earn money on the very next day and sit on the sofa for the next 5-10 years... You have to BUILD IT... It's the same on the chain, and it is normal... Every one of us has been there, and building can last for some time... But, don't give up!

Thanks for another great post!

When you can earn something with that you are doing it means that there is some value in it and value doesn't fall from the sky. We have to do something to collect this value. It needs consistency, perseverance, knowledge and time!

Dear @achim03,
The work of a blogger or content creator is a bit abstract and difficult to quantify. It revolves around content creation.
However interaction and engagement with the audience is very important.
Now the important thing with your post and the whole series that is emerging is how you have quantified it to great extent and broken the task down to manageable and measurable pieces.
This is a very clinical approach to the whole approach and if done right can give a good head start to anyone on this platform.

If in real life we manage to make some money, we immediately consider it as a kind of business. We try to improve our product, our margin and our market. We should do the same here because Hive allows us to earn money and if we do this activity in a more professional way, it will not only help us but help the whole blockchain.

Juste from a prespective of engaging. I can guarantee that you get much better interaction on your posts if you answer the comments and give an upvote to them. If everybody would do this, imagine how the "life" on the posts would increase. So if everybody tries to become better, the whole blockchain will become better.

Thanks for your great comment!

Hello @achim03
Again a very good post.
Thank you for sharing it, that focusing on a community or a tribe is more than necessary, since it allows you to establish closer relationships with specific groups of users, which will surely help you on the way, especially if you are starting, it is quite complex.

When you try to find your "family" within hive, I believe it's the best to join a community or a tribe. That's actually what every fish is doing, they swim in a swarm. Like that they are stronger and they are more protected. We shouldn't forget that we are minnows, dolphins, orcas and whales. We are fish and we need a swarm :-)

Thanks a lot for your comment my friend!

Hello @achim03

I take this part of your post:

When I look at it from a business perspective, when you start in Hive, you're launching your content creation start. It has no customers, no resources, no market and no experience, but it has some ideas for products/content you want to create.

Every start is difficult, it is necessary to win the trust of others, and for this it takes time to adapt, so that new users do not become disillusioned it is necessary to let them know, so that they understand that growth is gradually achieved. After they understand this, they will certainly not be disappointed as quickly in case they don't start valuing them as quickly as they think.

As you explain, even though you do not have the necessary experience you have the ideas, these ideas are very necessary to organize and group them so that they gradually take shape and new users can take advantage of the generation of content.

You said this very well. A new user needs time to understand how everything works, to find friends and relations. If they would know that from the beginning probably it would put them in another mindset and it would be easier for them to grow and to stay.

Thank you for your comment!
