Maybe we haven't discovered the real potential of Hive yet....png

There are some days when I'm up and others down, probably like everybody else. On the days that I'm down, I tend to reflect on what I'm doing and why I'm doing it. In a way it's on these down days that I progress on my path, because I believe that it's good to question what you are doing from time to time.

When I feel bad, I tend to think a lot...

These last days were rather down days and I was thinking a lot. I can't get rid of the feeling that in our world people are looking for attention everywhere, in real life and also on the internet. The problem is that there are actually very few people listening or paying attention...

On the Hive blockchain, I see so many people writing one post after the other in the expectation that maybe there will be a lost soul that finds his path to their post to give them an upvote or even better a comment.

I had then to ask myself, why don't I read more posts of other people and give them a comment? I love to listen to others. Even in real life, in a conversation I would bombard people with questions, sometimes making them uncomfortable. I'm by nature very curious. What I realized is that many posts on Hive don't interest me because they lack the personal touch. I like to read about what people feel, how they go through their life, what experiences they have made. Instead there are tons of posts about how things work. I can only speak for myself of course but I'm not so interested in stuff that I can look up on google. I want to learn about the people and their experiences.

The second question I asked myself was why, in spite of that, I liked to spend so much time on Hive? You can believe me that when I ask myself such questions, I try to go quite in dept to find an answer. Here is what I found out:

Why do I like Hive so much?

Thanks to the workings of the blockchain, on Hive we have something that I would call interested collaboration. If a person likes what I write, I will profit from her upvote. At the same time this person will profit from the curation reward and also from the feeling that she did something positive for me. We both win, sometimes I believe that the person who gives a vote or comment profits emotionally speaking even more than the one who received it.

From the interaction between me and the person above, we have a double profit. The interaction has added value to both of us.

Hive is a tool to encourage collaboration

What happens when several people start to put their heads together on Hive? We have outcomes like @project.hope that has developed into one of the biggest communities on Hive/Steem and that gives value to many people. Then there are curation projects like @thisisawesome which curates posts on the ctptalk.com platform. These are just two examples that I'm familiar with.

What I want to say is that when several people come together on Hive, it's possible to build something that brings value not only to these people but to everybody that is in their surroundings. I also realized that such projects draw other people towards them. Everybody wants to be part of something. Remember, we want attention and we are very happy if we find some in a community.

Maybe we haven't discovered the full potential of Hive yet

If we look at the history of steem/hive, it's fair to say that we are all part of a big social experiment and maybe we haven't yet discovered the real potential of this experiment.
When a couple of people, just by working together can manage to give value to a whole community, why don't we develop this aspect of Hive even more?

Some say that when two people put their ideas together, there will be three ideas at the end of the process. What if there are ten or twenty people putting their ideas together? What will be the output? What if a whole Hive of talented people work together?

Could Hive become a platform where people work together do build the ideas of tomorrow?

Would you like to work together with others here?

I would love to read your comment!

i believe we are just scratching the surface. the potential of this place hasn’t even begun to be realized by the masses.

once the onboarding is perfected (which is really close) and adopting of the applications is increasing. i think we see the realization of what so many envisioned for years.

Every day I spend on this platform, I have the feeling that we are just using 10% of what could be possible. It's so exciting to see all the potential here!

How old is the Hive blockchain?

That is the first question when I think that we are "stuck"... When we get aware that this is just a BEGINNING than we can be calmer and stop "overthinking" about the future...

The potential is huge, and I agree that we are using probably less than that 10 % that you said in the comments, but maybe that's the point... You can't use ALL of it as it is HUGE... and that is the beauty of it... There is something for everyone... There is a dApp for everyone, and if there isn't, it will be built if there is a need...

I have just read the awesome news that Splinterlands is coming to HIVE... The BEST BLOCKCHAIN game on the WORLD will be "hosted" on the blockchain that is 2 months old? Isn't that fantastic achievement?

That's just amazing. I really don't like what is happening on Steem and I feel just relieved that Splinterlands will come over to Hive.

This blockchain really rocks and I'm looking forward to what we will see on it in the future!

Unfortunately, STEEM is just a mess after JS started to "play with it"... He wants the toy for himself and doesn't get the thing that it WAS a living community...

Anyways, enough steem talk... Hive is getting more and more traction every day, which is great... and I have to admit that I also have those moments of "overthinking" when the HIVE price doesn't reflect the HUGE potential that it has...

But, we have to remember that the whole cryptocurrency market is still in kind of bear phase... So, Hive can't be immune to that...

the potential here is huge.
there are some many creative people in this world.
When they learn about an alternative decentralized platform, we will see some great things. 3 speak is crushing it, and they just started.
I expect a boom from the gaming industry

Hi @andrewn,
Thanks a lot for your comment. The potential of Hive is huge and I believe we have just started. I even think that the nature of the blogging could evolve greatly. It's all so very exciting ;-)

I think you're on to something, I think these collaboration and network effects only grow as we get more users, which means more ideas, more labour, more distribution of income, which means more use and velocity of the money and provides value in meaningful ways lets say the certain local community decide they going to accept hive for services they can sell good and services and use their HIVE account as a bank

I really like this idea that Hive could become more than what people to be a blogging platform. I think it would be quite easy to use Hive as means of exchange in shops in real life. It's as quick as to pay with credit cards and much better it doesn't cost anything!
We all love this platform for what it is but maybe thats' the problem. It's actually much more and we need to think out of the box.

Thanks a lot for your comment!

I think so too, I think that's where the power of HBD comes in, to make transactions easier and maintain a temporary value for things like products and services. I'm sure we will have it in the future, its only a matter of time
