Do You Really Want to Make Money at Home?

So you really want to make money from home? Most of us dream of quitting our day jobs in order to be able to work from home, but few of us think this through properly.

Advantages of Working from Home

There are many advantages of working from home. These include no daily commute to the office, no dressing up for work, no annoying colleagues and no demanding boss yelling at you. For a small business owner, working from home means fewer overheads.

Sounds good, doesn’t it? Most people would agree with you and so many people jump at the opportunity to work from home without considering the disadvantages.

Disadvantages of Working from Home

There is a lot less contact with colleagues and the outside world as a whole. If you choose a profession like web writing, your human contact is going to be minimal. So yes, your boss and colleagues may be difficult to deal with but imagine a world where you hardly ever get to meet anyone new.

The daily commute to work can be a grind but it can also be useful in focusing your day. I use my commute to listen to books on tape and thus catch up on my reading. I am fortunate in that I live in a beautiful area so my commute is through gorgeous countryside.

Another problem with working from home is that friends and family assume that you have plenty of free time and so will drop by at any time they feel like it and they may ask you to do things for them. Family can sometimes be more distracting than colleagues.

A great advantage of having an office away from home is that , at the end of the day, you can leave the office at home. When you live in your office, it becomes more difficult to separate home and business.

You may think that you’ll have more time to spend with your family and end up working more than ever before.

The advantage of having a boss yelling at you is that you’re forced into action. If you’re not very self-disciplined, working from home will probably not work out.

Overall, working at home seems like a great idea but requires a lot of careful thought if it is to become a viable business option. If you are a bubbly social butterfly it is unlikely to suit your personality and you’ll end up miserable.

You need to examine your motives for wanting to work from home. Is it just because you can’t stand your current job? If so, look for something else to do.

As with any major decision, weigh all the pros and cons as pertaining to your life before taking the leap.

Whether for better or for worse, modern society is heading towards self-confinement in our own homes, the pandemic has accelerated something that we have seen coming in the last few years. It is evident, unemployment is generalized everywhere, there are less small businesses and the governments only manage to print money to infinity, the strategy of keeping people at home prevents them from going out to the streets to protest.

I think I want a future where I can work both from home and at the office. In my case there are alot of benefits of working close to colleagues, but also it's more easy to get your life in order if you can work from home from time to time!

I'd rather have mom yell at me than have a bald man raise his frog voice on me just because he's paying my $40, suckish.

I can work from home but I prefer to go to a coworking place. There you will see people and chat with them, also the working environment helps to focus while at home there can be a lot of distractions.
