It is expected that every business undergoes one storm or the other at one point in its journey. Its ability to come out of it is actually what business resilience means in simple terms. The ability of a business to adapt in time to disruptions and still maintain continuous business operations. That means its assets, its brand and even its workforce are still intact no matter what. For a company to get back on its feet its operations must continue because it is key to its survival.

A business ability to do this doesn't fall from the sky or walk into the company on silhouettes but rather through planning and preparedness. This planning will reduce the risk involved or better still be a shock absorber so the effect of the disruptions are not too much for the company to handle. That's why most definition of business resilience includes the term planning because there can't be resilience without preparedness.

Resilience can only be possible when there is good management in place to think and make plans for the company. No one would have imagined that a pandemic this huge would come and sweep the entire world off its feet. It hasn't happened in years and it affected every business whether they planned or not. Revealing the need for every business to prepare for anything and everything if possible. If you want your business to stand the test of time and last years enough to be handed down generations then its important that you have a management ready and making plans. Not only are they paving the way for the company but also boosting the confidence of their employees.

This can be done by examining crisis management from world class organizations coupled with knowledge and experience from from previous experiences for example the pandemic that started in 2019. Business resilience can also be built by having strong company culture. Your company culture includes what your company values i.e its goals, practices that characterize your company including shared beliefs and the way your employees feel about the work they do for you. When your workforce feels strong connections with your company and what it stands for the urge and drive to make things work no matter what is created in them. This breeds innovative and mentally strong people that are ready to go the extra mile to pull the company back on its feet. Without this, its certain the business will loose its agility and make it difficult for the business to rise out of the difficulties in time.

The need to look at the company and the entire brand from the eyes of the customer is also key in building the company's resilience. Being able to deliver even during disruptions is key to survival because the business can't survive without stable income going in. Making the need for the business to be able to meet customers needs without compromising on its standard.

There is no straight path to business resilience but rather a network of paths and strategic routes.
