A perfect day for cycling...
Today was a nice autumn day. It was a bit cold, but also dry and sunny; a perfect day to go for a ride.
I planned a 60 kilometer route in an area called "the green heart". An area with a lot of meadows with cows, sheep and... windmills.
Living in the Netherlands spotting a windmill is not unique, but I was surprised how many there were. I have counted over 20 of them in my 2 hour ride.
Windmills have no real function anymore. Most of the windmills in this area were used to pump water out of the polders and are replaces by electrical pumps.
I really likes this view with both modern windmills as an old one.

Ahhhh! I knew there were lots of windmills in the Netherlands but I hadn't made the connection with pumping water! Where I live in Central France it is very hilly. To cycle, here, you have to be an athlete, mad, or have an electric bike!
I habe cycled in France during the holidays and I love it! Since I cycle a lot the hills (and mountains) are a challenging to me.
