Hello friends, happy new month to you all, am new here and am happy to be here and I believe am welcome into this great community. Today I want to share my work experience in this soak away project.

I went to my church were the work was going on and I assisted in the little way I could and that was filling the hole by the side of the soak away with earth sanding to prevent water logging.

Now starting with the measurement of the soak away the Width was 13 and the Fetes was 12. After the medicine man was done with the building from inside, a day after, I and some others started the filling.

Special thanks to @obrisgold, for his effort in making sure that this project was a success. To be sincere the project needed much energy, and by the grace of God it was successful.

At first it was like we won’t be able to do the work and so laziness came in but as we started filling and as well discussing, we realized that the work was getting easier and more fun.

We also had some time to cool our nerves and as we went back to work we realized that we had gone far with the work and this boast us to work even more before the clouds would start giving us some signs of rain.

This type of soak away is different from our homes due to the fact that it will be used by many people and that means that it must be deep to stand the test of time.

In a soak away project building, we have two sides, which are;
The soak away itself and the septic tank. Now, the soak away is the part that all the water from the building is stored and later on soak away by earth, due to the holes provided by the builder in other for this water to pass through it. You can see that on the last image as well.

The other part which is the Septic tank stores all our waste products there. And when it is filled up we now call the environmental service to come rescue us (lol). The picture is on the 3rd image.

This project is of high standard, because of the building materials used in the process. The materials used in the building process include; rods, cements, binding wires, blocks and planks as well. This soak away can last over 25 years because of the materials put into the work.

That is why many people may not afford to do this, especially now that building materials are at high cost. In some areas like the rural areas, you see that most homes do not use this method but rather just dug a pit and cover it with a slap well cemented.

This method is at high risk of collapsing if care is not taken. In this local method proper care and maintenance practices must be observed. It is important to understand that pit toilet system is not the best not just that it has health side effects which you as a person may not like or want to experience as well.

My friends in conclusion I would like to say that we should go for quality things that will last us. And once again thank you for the warm welcome in this community and am looking forward to more support from everyone as well.

Thank you for reading my post, have a lovely week ahead.

Cheers!!
