Shadow Hunters: Beach Edition

Beach Day on Easter

Summer is already upon us here in the UAE. The temperatures are already rising by the day. Interestingly, there is always a steep rise in temperature the past three Fridays where it always hit 40ºC, but it goes back down to a comfortable 25ºC for the rest of the week.

Nonetheless, we do not attempt to go to the beach on Fridays because the beaches tend to be crowded on Fridays since it is the day off of the majority. There are still restrictions in terms of capacity (in addition to masks/social distancing/sanitizing etc.), so when the visitors reach the maximum number then there's no choice but to go back.

The kids have been asking to go back to the beach. The last time we were there was about 10 days ago. Time is tricky for me because we cannot go there before 9am, so we are mostly there after 9am up to around noontime (before we get toasted!). Too much sun, but water is fun!

With the sun 🌞 comes shadows!

So I thought it's a great idea to go shadow hunting while at the beach. There's just so much sun, there's no reason not to find shadows.

But first, coffee! ☕

This is a staple. I feel "sad" when I don't get a coffee fix in the morning, so this has to happen.

My brewed black coffee in my trusty flask.

Coffee is done, now it's time to take a dip.

The children are having the time of their lives, if not splashing water at each other, then they are making sand castles or taking turns to bury each other in the sand.

While for me, it's time to take some shadow and reflection photos in the water.

The sun is too bright, I cannot even see what pictures I am really taking. I only had the chance to review them when we came home. Lol.

Unlike last week when it was wavy, yesterday the water was calm. The ripples look good as it gets hit by the bright sun.

Much as we love the sun, we still need to get some protection from the UV rays. The sunshine is getting intense as hours go by and the children do not have any plans of getting out of the water.

It was a windy day and the security initially did not allow to open up the beach umbrellas. Thankfully, they obliged to the beachgoers' request, and they we finally had some shade at the shore.

It's noontime and the sun is already directly about our heads. Finding shadows except those directly beneath us is getting tricky.

Feet? Yes! Feet.

Can you guess whose feet are these?

Definitely not Godzilla's.

I found him got washed up the shore. I'm not sure if he's hurt or what, but I kindly put him a little farther away from the water. I don't want him to end up in the sea!

I hope he appreciates a heart. ❤️ Do you know how to make a Korean heart? I think it is my first time doing this! LOL. I'm so old. :(

I hope you enjoyed this little trip by the beach. We loved the sun and the water, the kids are asking to go back again on Thursday!

We might just do.
:)
