CrossCulture Contest || How Globalization has impacted me positively.

I remembered when Starstrings announced that the Cross-Cultural contest is back again and I was excited because in my early days on Hive, I have been participating and it has been interesting. Thank you, darling, for the invite and for not allowing me to miss this contest.}

Everything has gone global today and I am glad to be a part of the generation where things have been made easier and stress-free. Our parents might have lived and enjoyed their lives before the era of globalization, but it cannot be compared to how things have taken shape through technology today. Everything they had to do rigorously and sweating underneath their body is what we do with ease today and they have tagged us as being lazy. There is nothing like being lazy in finding a comfortable life to live except you depend solely on technology to do everything for you which can be disastrous in the end.

In simple terms, globalization is a process where people and goods can move freely without borders. In another sense to add to it, it means a process where things are done more easily instead of sweating over it and taking its hard job on you.

All thanks to globalization, how does it sound to you when you have to reach across a relative because someone needs urgent treatment of an ailment but it took weeks to get delivered to such a person? Don't you think the sick patient would have given up the ghost even before something is done? Or how does it sound to miss out on an opportunity just because there was no vehicle or bike to take you to a far distance for your interview?

Many people, including myself, have been impacted positively by globalization even though there are downsides to it too. But I believe the positive aspects are more than the opposite. Here, I will be talking about how things have been made easier for me; thanks to globalization for bringing things easier for me.

The Education aspect of Globalization:

Before globalization came into being, education varied greatly depending on cultures and regions. For instance;

• Oral Tradition: Education was passed orally to individuals to transmit information with skills that were passed down from generation to generation through songs, stories, and proverbs. This method was prevalent in most pre-literate societies.

• Apprenticeship: This is another method of education before globalization. It's a process where individuals learned trades and crafts from professional and skilled artisans. They acquired knowledge and skills through apprenticeship.

• Formal education: This method was only found in some societies and it was only reserved for the elite classes. These are small group of people who holds an unequal amount of power, wealth, and affluence in society. These categories of people had exclusive access to education, resources, and opportunities than the lower classes who could not afford education.

Today, education is now meant for everyone, both the poor and rich people which I have benefited from. Various online classes weren't available in the past which has made education easier. Classes are being held online, assignments and projects are being communicated through social media and people do not longer have to wait for the aged to share information about history and culture when they could get all online.

Health services and medicines aspect of Globalization:

Our forefathers believed in traditional medicine to cure ailments and diseases. They had their method of childbearing and they weren't exposed to technology and various equipment that could make things easier.

I watched a movie recently where a young boy had a bite in the river, they thought it was nothing serious until the wound started opening up which caused him great pain for two years. They thought it was diabolical until some health practitioners came to visit them in the village. They took the boy to the city for proper treatment and it was then they found out it was a disease called “Buruli Ulcer”. The disease had eaten up his skin until surgeries were undergone for him. Though it affected him as he started limping till he grew up. This movie was based on a true event.

Everything is now made easy so that you don't have to be ignorant of things, especially in the aspect of health. Just because of a lack of exposure and being ignorant, those people living in the rural areas believed whatever is wrong with them is diabolical which isn't always the truth.

Transportation aspect of Globalization:

This is another positive impact of globalization on me because I can easily take a bike or cab to wherever I want to go without having to trek miles to get to my destination. Even in those days, the wealthiest people had access to donkeys, and carriages while those who couldn't afford these means had to resort to using their legs to travel. I can't imagine how tiring and frustrating it would be to travel by foot from one state to another.

Communication aspect of Globalization:

It wouldn't be funny waiting for months to get my letter delivered to a relative or friend of mine just to pass across my message. I can't imagine how challenging and sad it would be when I need to gist my friends and families of the event that happened in my town or village because I needed to share what happened in their absence.

Now, we can do that from the comfort of our homes while those letters and texts get delivered within a second as long you have data and the internet is working fine. I can just put a call through or see who I am chatting with through live videos and we spend the whole day talking and sharing how the day went.

Thanks to globalization where we make friends everywhere. I have made a lot of friends here on Hive and it has helped me gain a lot of opportunities I wouldn't have had access to if there was nothing like globalization.
