Building Reputation and #MyHiveGoals Status

Today was an awesome day as my job for picking up good posts on the CTPTalk for a ThisIsAwesome project was very hard... There were plenty of great blog posts and if I could, I would probably pick up at least a dozen for the TIA... One of the posts were from @robwillmann (or maybe it wasn't a post at all... tbh, I have been lost between Hive, Discord, and Telegram... lol) where he was talking about his idea of creating a podcast... (or it was just a comment on someone's post... lol)

Actually, it doesn't matter where did I saw that... lol... The point was that he was talking about building a brand around himself as he has an idea to create a podcast and invite guests from the Hive... Usually, to call "influencers" on your show, you should also be part of that circle, or at least being close to them...

On the Hive blockchain, we have a metric that is called "Reputation rank", or score and that's a number that is behind your username... When you signup to the network it is 25, and as you are creating and engaging with others it goes up... It's not a big problem to reach numbers around 50-60 if you are consistent, but numbers over 70 are a challenge...

But, to clarify something... The reputation isn't a crucial metric on the chain and it is not the ONLY thing that matters... It is more the combination of things like your involvement in the communities, quality of your posts, engagement, but also the balance of your HivePower as it shows your dedication to the platform...

Check out the video and find my thoughts about this...

In the end, I would like to make an update of my current numbers (June 4th, 2020) on #MyHiveGoals:

HIVE POWER - 12,139 / 20,000 60.69%
CTP POWER - 98,972 / 150,000 65.98%
HIVE Followers - 223 / 333 66.97%
LBRY Followers - 684 / 1,500 45.60%

Thanks again for the mention. I am really enjoying your videos.

The discussion on reputation is excellent.

Writing down the goals is great. Having to constantly talk about the stats isn't really the prime directive in the challenge. It's all about just walking in the right direction day after day. The #myhivegoals is a great way to get some others following your goals, being encouraging to you, and helping you along the way.

For example: You've already helped me just by talking about rep points.

I'm forgetting this very often... I still can't get used to the thing that others are reading and watching some of my stuff...

and maybe just some small word that I say triggers something a lot bigger in their lives... (I have experienced a lot of these following some great people here, so it is a mutual thing...)

Thanks for your kind words.

The reputation score is an indication when you see someone on Hive for the first time. That's how I see it. The reputation score is important, but I don't think it represents everything. You will get an idea about someone on this platform seeing the reputation score.

Then I usually look at their content. You will get to know more about someone seeing what he is doing. Anyway, I also heard the lovely sounds of birds today. Awesome! :)

It's not the most important metric, that's for sure... But, as you said, it can be useful when you meet some new face in your comments, or circle of friends...

Where I do my daily walks, there are almost no people... just me and the birds... and maybe some snake, as I bumped today at one... lol...

In the past I didn't pay much attention to reputation points until one of my friends got downvoted by a whale and he got a reputation under 0. This meant that his posts and comments were not shown in the feeds anymore. It was almost impossible for him to get to positive.

As you say don't step on the tail of the wrong whale ! (I love this one ;-) )

yeah... Some of our "whales" aren't really aware of their power and can do some stupid things... (as we just saw just a day or two before) The price can be big for both parties involved...

I just hope that all of us act more responsible in all senses...
