As a parent, you want to do your best for your kids. When your kids are young, they don't understand what is good and what is bad for them. So you make the decisions for your kids.
When your kids grow up, they understand what is good for them and what they want to do in the future. Do you impose your intentions on your kids and force them to do something? You might do more harm in that way. You want to see your kids as a doctor, engineer, lawyer, or in other professions. But do your kids want that?
