Partnership and Teamwork

I liked the engagement that my last vlog caused and I would like to share with you the continuation of my business journey... To be more exact, maybe to connect my past with my present and future... OK, maybe I should not write more introduction as it starts to be confusing... lol...

A couple of weeks ago one idea was born about doing something special here on the Hive, and it would involve at least one more person from the "swarm"... The idea is still WIP (work in progress), so nothing isn't taken off the table, but I have to admit that I have some concern about it... Mostly because of my experience from the past...

Let me explain... I had a couple of business (ad)ventures in the past, and most of them were in some kind of co-operation with other people... I like to divide them into 2 groups, teamwork jobs, and partnership jobs...

Actually, at this moment, I work in a team here on the Hive, as a part of the This Is Awesome project, which is run by @flaxz... He is in charge of it, and the team consists of himself, @russellstockley, @pixiepost, and myself... As you can see, the team is fantastic with extraordinary people... Everyone knows exactly its job, and the team works flawlessly... But, I have to underline that we have ONE person who is a creator of the project and the person in charge...

On the other side, partnership jobs are a bit different... It usually consists of two (or more) co-owners that are EQUALLY responsible for everything... As there is no boss, it is a way more complicated to maintain a good relationship and synchronicity between the co-owners...

I had 2-3 businesses where ownership was "split" between more people, and 2 of 3 failed because of the "sync" problems... What do I mean exact, check out in the video...

I hope that this will be helpful for someone out there who is planning to start some partnership business... It's a bit difficult to make it work, but if you succeed, 2 or more brains working for the same cause can make miracles...

Thank you for your valuable time,

~ph~

The pleasure is all mine... As I said in the vlog, working in a team like that isn't counting as a work... It's a lot of fun! :)

Wow, that's great about your future project! Even though it sounds like it is planning mode, it will be fun to see what it is! Best of luck to you on that. 😊😉

Also, thank you so much for the mention. I am blessed to work with such an amazing team like ours. The four of us have always worked well together & it's "awesome". 😉

I have a feeling you're going to be successful this time around with the partnership, just because of the fact you've learned from those past business experiences. Sure, it takes two to tango. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But I know if your friendship is strong, it will stay intact. I've learned in my own past partnerships that communication is key. Working closely together, you also learn each other's strengths & weaknesses. So if you each agree on a role that plays in those strengths, that may help increase the syncronicity of the business relationship. I hope that makes sense.

Keep #pushing on, Batman! You will be successful in whatever you do. I have no doubt. 😊🙌 Thanks for an awesome video & keep smiling. 💜

It all about connections and the power you derive from a team. 1 & 1 makes 11 :)

Nice video and quite intriguing, what are you preparing there ;-)

It's true that every partnership can entail problems. I totally agree with you that it's difficult to progress in such a partnership when you are not in ligne. In my present offline business I first started it together with my brother but we simply realised that it wasn't working because we saw things too differently. So not to strain our relationship too much, we decided to part ways professionaly.

I think that it's easier to run a project where somebody has the 51%. Meaning that one person takes the responsability and the others contribute whith their ideas and their work but in the end it's much easier when one single person has to take the final decisions.

Yup... When you do something with SOMEONE, you got the point about the problems... As you said... People think that money is usually the problem, but it's not... As I said in my vlog, I was aligned in so many things with my business partner, but the difference was the "pace"... and it was enough to not make it...

It's always better when you have 1 person in charge of everything... I know, centralization bla-bla, but it is like that... Or at least, it was in my case...

But, I do believe that it is possible to do partnership... It needs time and effort, but it is possible!

Arising conflict and not working together as a team is one of the reasons for partnership business failures. To run it well, someone has to take the leads. Here communication is the key.

Thank you @ph1102 for talking about this and sharing your experience!

To run it well, someone has to take the leads.

This is true, but if you have 2 (or more) people in charge, this can be a good and bad thing... The good thing is if you and me doing business and I'm a bit DOWN, you take over and PUSH more... and vice-versa... it can work great... If it works :)

Thanks for the comment :)

If co owner skills complement each other then it is possible otherwise it will be "Two of a trade can never agree".

Yes, you are right... it's not just about skill as there are a lot of other things that have to be "in-sync"... But that would be the first step... :)

Thanks for the comment!
