Well Arrived and Already Spotted the Succulents... [EN - FR]

avatar

Hi everyone !

The journey went well and we arrived at this beautiful house, you'll see a picture at the very end of this article. After lunch, as I walked through the living room I immediately spotted this beautiful mix of succulents ! I had already taken some cuttings on another visit, but I have the impression that there are some newcomers :)

So I'm thinking of doing another 'razzia', but really, one or two small leaves will be more than enough ! I don't often make mixes like this, but I should because as long as the plants like the same environment, it's worth putting them together.

IMG_7489.JPG

Let's start with this Portulaca grandiflora or "Moss rose". This one is a member of the Portulaca family like the purslane I cut out last night :)

I was quite intrigued by these large roots that extend from the main stem. I don't know about you, but I've rarely seen that, at least not to this extent !

IMG_7435.JPG

IMG_7486.JPG

This one is a Crassula ovata or "Jade plant" apparently... It's strange because with the plant recognition application, many other plants were recognized with the same name, but with completely different leaves... Mystery to be solved !

IMG_7441.JPG

This is a vigorous Haworthiopsis fasciata or 'Zebra Haworthia'. It seems to be healthy, but for this one, I'll have to find out how to make a cutting, because even without having done any research for the moment, I have the impression that it looks a bit more complicated... Well, you'll tell me according to your own experiences :)

IMG_7447.JPG

Here we come back to the classic with this Sedum burrito or "Burrito's tail". I think we will agree on the beautiful, soft and very decorative aspect of this succulent ! I don't think there will be any problems with the cuttings...

IMG_7442.JPG

IMG_7484.JPG

Let's finish with this Delosperma cooperi, also called "Hardy iceplant. This one grows outside in the sun and seems to enjoy it very much ^^ Here too, I think there will be a small collection, especially as this one is very abundant :)

IMG_7457.JPG

That's it for this first half-day of arrival, normally we're supposed to stay here for about ten days. I'm thinking of organizing a visit of the village, doing some watercolors and I can tell you that tomorrow's article will probably be about a little DIY that I'm expecting some results from, haha, we'll see !

Below, you'll see a view of this incredible house, but I'll "widen the field" in the next few days ^^

I hope this article has interested you both from a botanical and summer point of view !

Enjoy your weekend and take good care of yourself and your loved ones :)

See you soon,

<3

Enfin, vous me direz selon vos propres expériences :)

IMG_7447.JPG

<3

Oh oh! I know I know!
Pick meee!

There are three different Crassulas in that pot.
The first one is Crassula Tetragona with the long skinny leaves.
The second one is Crassula ovata 'Gollum'.
And the one on the right is the Jade Plant - it has flat leaves.

Such an amazing view!

Such an amazing view!

Yeah, indeed :)

I thought the first one was a different variety, but I don't place a lot of trust in this plant recognition app ^^

I hope you're enjoying your Sunday !

You would need to take an entire offset of the Haworthia although it is a species that clumps readily and there seems to be more than one rosette. Then you should leave it to dry in a shady spot and and only plant it when you see new roots forming

That's what I thought ! It's going to be difficult to leave a big hole :))

Thanks for your answer here @nikv !

Have a nice Sunday <3

This made me remember the seeds that I bought online, I planted them, but not one germinated. By the way, I love your snaps. Greetings from the Philippines!
