Ready, Set, Goals! 🥅

Quote_Goals 1st quarter 2021.jpg

I'm not really one for penning down one's goals. Heck, don't get me started on New Years' resolutions. I'm all for the people who do and encourage them in their own journeys, but I never thought of doing it myself.

Look, a to do list for everything that needs to be done; especially at the office; I'm all for. I get a kicker out of it. Especially when you get to check off each task when done and seeing the progress made. But something that spans over a certain time period, like with a list of goals or a dream board, didn't really work for me.

As a teenager I had tried out the dream board, but it didn't work for me. Maybe I wasn't in the right frame of mind or that I didn't use the tool in the right way. It doesn't matter now though; we shouldn't dwell on the past. We should only be in the present moment and look forward.

After some years of working experience I did get to learn a thing or two. Like formulating SMART goals. Meaning the goal needs to be: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-based. I guess that's what my goals lacked in middle school 😅

So here's to setting some SMART goals:

  • In the second week of January 2021 I have the approval of two companies for doing research for a report.
  • By the end of January 2021 I have written a post every other day on Hive.
  • At the end of March 2021 I shall pass my last exam report Toegepaste Methoden en Technieken.
  • At the end of March 2021 I shall hand in my final written thesis.

These are just some of the goals that I have set for next year. What are yours and are they SMART?
Writing this post was inspired by @surrealfia, who herself pitched us some of her own goals for december 2020. Go and check out her posts.

What do Lionel Messi and a magician have in common? Both do hat-tricks! Hahaha

Thank you so much.... I'm happy that I inspired you to set your goals. And it's a great set of goals... so let's strike 😁

There is a saying if a goal is not written down it is only a dream.
So you are now in the 1% and have SMART goals.

Let me ask you, how will you feel when that thesis is written before the end of March? What emotion?
Pick 1 or 2 and let that positive emotion fuel you to success.

Hello @tanjakolader
I see you're going to have a pretty busy first quarter this coming year, and that's great.
Congratulations, and best wishes.
It is good to have goals, certainly, to be very clear and specific in them, it is the best.
Being grounded in reality means having your feet on the ground when it comes to planning, it is crucial for us to move forward in a logical sense.

Yes, setting goals and planning are crucial in moving forward.
To succeed is to have the eye on the ball and to stay focused.
Penning it down makes it even more real, then when only in your head.

Enjoy the holidays and be safe!

Congrats for offering us inspiration about goals!
Do you think freedom is a good goal?

Was my pleasure.
Freedom and especially of the mind are the most crucial I would say and one could specify it however he/she wants or needs to.
Freedom from corruption, freedom from (mental) slavery, freedom from abuse.
You name it.

Happy Holidays and stay safe! 😊

Do you think that where there is a risk for our health there should also be freedom of choice?
What do you think about the health risk of the much promoted vaccine?
What do you think about the fact that choosing to refuse the vaccine implies the reduction of our freedom of movement?

Haven't really done the research about the vaccine though and haven't really thought about it. I've seen some media coverage about it, but made the choice not to be constantly involved in it. There's enough distortion in the world, so I chose to stay in a positive mindset.
When Covid-19 broke out in my country I was so obsessed with it and constantly checked the numbers. Don't want that anymore, so I stopped.
When there's more information and more valid data, I will likely look into it.

So then, who's gonna stop our rulers from continuing reducing our freedom?

You know, there's a saying "Every nation gets the government it deserves.", by Joseph de Maistre, so it's the responsibility of those people. Of course there will always be individuals, who fall out of the norm and who will fight for what is right, so it will befall on them to educate the rest.

But in doing that, we must also realize that people won't change unless they themselves want to change

Do you fight for what's right?

I do, but I do chose my battles

It's good to hear that. When i talk with people about our challenge of protecting our freedom, a common question i hear is:

What can we do?

When people know some examples of actions, they can start implementing them. So, What do you do to fight for what's right?

I usually use my voice.
A lot of people don't have that luxury or don't have the ability to do that.
Funny thing is that I usually find it easier to fight for others, but when it comes to my own self I usually tend to forget myself. But two months ago, I made a decision to choose myself and my own wellbeing. In the beginning I used my voice and when that failed I had to let go.

That's why I said I choose my battles, because it's no use fighting when it's costing your own health. That's just one of the reasons
