English

I have decided to make this small guide, due to the many questions that new users have when we register them and I think it is convenient that they are explained in a publication; especially many that escape us.

More than a guide on how to get started on HIVE; this is a summary of some important tips that will facilitate your start on this platform.

The most important point before starting with the tips is: Why did you come to HIVE?

In most social networks, we enter aimlessly and without having a purpose or objectives. Sometimes it is not so important, because we use them to distract us in our leisure time. But HIVE is different; here the money factor comes in from day one, even before with the creation of your account, because yes, creating an HIVE account costs resources. This is why if you want to have a second account you should buy it.

The "For What" can be many; from getting online income, start receiving cryptocurrencies, get to know the blockchain world, start in web 3.0, develop dapps, earn money voting posts, build a niche community and tokenize it, build a personal brand with an immutable account, have an uncensored personal blog and a long etc.

This small guide of tips is oriented to the "For What": Content Monetization.

1. Publish a Presentation

It is the main thing for a good start; for the community to get to know us. In fact, you might think that if no one commented on your presentation it was useless, but there will always be people who will get to know you and will look for your presentation at any time.

The steps for a good presentation are:

  • Photos. The first photo will appear as a thumbnail and it must be yours. The presentation is yours, so do not include other people in the first photo because it takes away your prominence. If it can be a selfie holding a sign with your username and the date, much better. Also include more images.

  • Title. In the title you should make it clear that it is a presentation in HIVE. I have seen many presentations with poetic titles without really mentioning that it is a presentation. Be direct.

  • Body. In the text you can expand and talk about yourself, your experiences in social networks and as a content creator (if you are one). However, the most important thing is that you mention your "Why". Also how you found out about HIVE and if someone helped you to open the account. What most attracted your attention to join. And what your content will be about. This part is very important and will define your personal market within the platform. Arriving saying that you will talk about "a little bit of everything", belittles your talents. Remember that HIVE is a platform of niches and it is best to focus on a few.

  • Tags. The tags for the presentation are: #introduceyourself #myhiveintro and if you publish in Spanish #spanish. You will use the latter whenever you publish in that language. The first two are only used in the presentation.

Those are the main tags; you can also include #life and projects like #palnet to earn their tokens.

2. Resources

This is the most important part of getting started in HIVE. Resources are necessary for all the actions you perform. Depending on how you opened your account you will have more or less resources. That is why it is best to use it for the main thing, which will be posting. Actions such as changing the profile picture, following people, voting, commenting, can be done later when your HP increases. It will increase as your publications are voted and after 7 days you will receive the HP.

To see your resources you have several pages:

Or if you're on Peakd.com, just place your cursor on the "i"

rc 4.jpg

3. Communities

At the beginning we talked about the "For What" and this is closely linked to which communities you will use to publish. Also the type of content according to your niche.

If you want to get high votes, you have to look for the communities where the fattest whales vote; of course, as long as they are related to your content.

You might think that you only choose the communities that are trending. They certainly have the most rewards, but it doesn't mean that's where you'll get the most votes.

GEMS, has always been the community with the highest rewards to collect. This is because there are 3 whales that vote. Almost all the posts that are voted have medium rewards. On the other hand there are other communities where a single post can triple those of GEMS. This happens especially in communities that are niche specific.

In our community "Loving HIVE ❤️" vote @appreciator, whenever you have an elaborate post, you will most likely receive a vote from him. If the post brings a lot of value to HIVE you might get a vote from other whales.

My recommendation is to go to the explorers I gave you above and look for the whales: Blocktrades and ocdb to see where they are voting.

4. Relationships

HIVE is about human relationships. Making friends here has a great value; not only to receive a vote but infinite opportunities that you can't even imagine. Collaborations can easily lead to projects and communities, which could give you extra influence and income.

To start building relationships, it is important to be active on the platform, not only by posting but also by commenting. Of course, if you are starting out you will not have many resources for these actions; but if you want to take this seriously and your goals are ambitious, I recommend investing a little in HP, so that your account has fewer limitations and can grow faster.

Another way to interact and that does not cost resources, is on Twitter and Discord. In the first one you interact with all HIVE users and in the second one by communities. Each community has its own Discord server, so you should spend time on those that are oriented to your niche.

5. Always read a lot.

Purposeful reading on HIVE is the best investment. This platform is a mine of knowledge and you will never stop learning. When you first start, you will be showered with incredible information that might scare you, but soon you will be handling it like an expert.

Reading keeps us informed about the platform. It also helps you get to know the members. There's a world in here and you'll find you'll soon have an addiction to knowing everything.

Reading also opens the door to new opportunities. It's the way to find out about new applications, new ways to earn money, new contests, new projects to support, etc.

6. Format

The format of the publications is very important to receive votes in HIVE. Here we start with a blog format. Medium to long articles (not so long) that include images and where the reading is entertaining. Peakd has the particularity that it tells you the estimated reading time. A post that is 5 to 10 minutes long will be fine.

Of course it depends a lot on the community. If your post is about photography, you won't have to write much and several quality pictures will be enough. However, if your post is about travel, you will have to write a lot and include a lot of photographs. This is the niche with the longest posts since people want to experience your trip while reading.

The other great format is video. The Dapp par excellence is 3speak.online and although it has a community of short videos (less than a minute) I have not seen high votes there. That's why I recommend making videos of around 10 minutes, like Youtube.

7. Additional Tips

  • If you publish in Spanish, include the English translation (use deepl.com).
  • Take care of the details of the post. Use an attractive but functional layout
  • Use your own images in good quality. If you use stock images, add a personal touch like a text or your photo (royalty free image banks: pixabay.com / pexels.com / unplash.com / morguefile.com; always put the source of the image.
  • Avoid using centered or justified alignment. In this postI explain why.
  • Finally I want to recommend you to read this post by @hivebuzz to take the HIVE guided tour. There is a list of tasks for new users, such as publishing the presentation or setting up the profile. Remember that all those actions consume resources, so use it sparingly or invest a little in your account.
