God's Speed

So I was bored and decided to revisit @zayedsakib post where he mentioned about owning a dog and then out of the blues, a memory came rushing back into my head.

I feel like everyone has had that one experience with a dog that they probably won't be forgetting in a long while. Well mine was more of an encounter, a terrible one for a ten year old kid.

As a kid, we were told never to show fear when a dog is right in front of us, to avoid been chased. But you see, what they didn't tell us was that it depended on how crazy the dog was.

Me, my brothers and my mom were all on our way out. I had one of my best cloth on, the one pop had gotten for me. I knew without a doubt that the other kids would be envious of my cloth. We were about getting to the bus stop when something caught our attention.

A woman down the street was screaming, we were still trying to figure out what the problem was when a dog ran out of her shop and headed straight towards me.

I watched as it ran with full speed, probably trying to avoid being lynched by the angry woman. As I watch it run towards me, the dog rule came to mind..

“Never be the first to run, stand your ground”

But my ground must have been a little bit slippery because I broke free from my mom who was holding on to me, and then I ran.

A glimpse backward confirmed my fears, the dog was indeed after me. Maybe it was because I ran, but who cares, I had a beast on my tail. My tiny legs could only do so little, so it didn't take long before they gave up and fell into a dirty water which was a result the rain that fell earlier that day.

Luckily for me, my epic fall did scare the dog (I guess) and it ran away.

Mom had no choice than to take me back home and take off my most valued possession, my beautiful cloth.
